2025 OHSAA Tournament: Division V State Semifinal - #5 Lynchburg-Clay vs #24 Graham

AKRON - It took two days but Graham outlasted Lynchburg-Clay 4-1 in the Division V state semifinals at Canal Park.

Leading 2-0 when play resumed after the game was suspended due to rain on Friday night, the Falcons rode the relief pitching of Adam Levy to the state finals where they will take on Waynedale on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the finals.

Levy permitted an unearned run in five innings after taking over for starting pitcher Hayden Van Hoose, who threw two no-hit frames with three Ks on Friday.

Graham scored all the runs needed in the top of the first on a Levy RBI single and a Breyton Reisinger run-scoring fielder’s choice.

The Mustangs pulled within 2-1 in the fourth when Trevor Niehaus singled in Quinn Wells, who had a base hit and moved up on a throwing error.

But the 24th-ranked Falcons put one run on the board in the fifth on a Levy run-producing single and another in the sixth on an Owen Powell base hit.

HOT TAKES

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Levy did it before the rain and after, driving in runs in the first and fifth with singles. The Findlay commit also struck out eight and walked three in his five frames of work, giving up seven hits while throwing 55 of 90 pitches for strikes.

WHAT’S NEXT?: All four returning starters had hits for the fifth-rated D-V Mustangs, with freshmen Quinn Wells and Tanner Roberts, sophomore Niehaus and junior Elam Faust all belting singles.
