Ranking: 14th in Ohio and 108th overall
Evaluation: 6-foot-5, 190-pound projectable frame jumped to the number 14 spot and is the next in the line of dominant starters from Defiance High School. Smiddy was a Top Prospect Games participant who sits 83-86, touching 87 with the fastball while being confident in three total pitches (12/6 CB and changeup). Curveball sits 72-75 with good depth while the changeup, which is thrown near fastball arm speed, sits 74-76 with some arm-side run. Smiddy was also selected for the Future Games, but was unable to make it due to prior commitments. At shortstop the lanky athlete fields the ball out in front, making a strong accurate throw to first through a high-3/4 slot with a velocity in the low 80s. At the plate has a short compact swing with an exit velocity of 84 mph. Also ran a 7.41 60-yard dash.
