Nearly two weeks after it was publicly announced that RHP Jake Godfrey would no longer be attending Notre Dame next fall, the hard-throwing Providence Catholic senior has picked another school. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Godfrey verbally committed to Louisiana State on Monday.

Godfrey is the No. 1 overall 2014 prospect in Prep Baseball Report’s Overall Rankings and is ranked 41st in the National Top 50, released in November. He has the ability to pitch his way into the first three rounds of the draft this spring. If games are ever played in the Chicagoland area this spring, Godfrey will be one of the most heavily scrutinized prospects in the Midwest.
