Alcala looks like a power bat with his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. He has a preset load with a closed stance and easy stride. He has a level swing path, taking the barrel to the ball and uses a simple swing to drive balls hard to his pull side. He has registered an exit velocity of 95 mph off a tee. His actions are adequate at first base and he has the athleticism to be a good defender there.
