Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, Canada

On Wednesday, October 7th, the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted the first of two Fall Invite events with the annual Toronto Fall Invite, hosted at the Canadian Bulldogs Facility in Toronto, Ontario.

This event featured roughly 60 prospects in the 2026 - 2030 classes and it allowed players a final chance to showcase their tools and talent before the fall season concludes and players head indoors for the winter.

All player ran through a full workout that included batting practice and bullpens captured on our TrackMan, as well as a 60-yard and splits captured by VALD Performance and positional metrics. Over the next several days we'll be highlighting top performers from the event within our post-event analysis. Stay locked into our social media channels over the next several days as we continue to push out video, leaderboards and more.

Earlier this week, we began our post-event coverage within our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive articles. Today, we will conclude our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits as we provide you scouting notes and video on 11 standouts from the event.

‘26 RHP/OF Max LaFlamme (Ontario Yankees): Laflamme impressed on the slope at the Fall Invite, showing one of the more complete arsenals in attendance. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound RHP is equipped with a three pitch mix. The FB sat 87.3–88.2 mph, T88.4, CB at 72–75 mph (2420+), SL at 76.2–77.2 mph (2580+), and a CH at 81–82.  Strong, physical frame that posted one of the stronger metrics on the day.  There’s more velocity in the tank as he continues to mature.  A name that college coaches should keep tabs on heading into the 2026 cycle.

‘27 RHP Quentin Pavlovic (Etobicoke Rangers): It was our staff’s first look at the 6-foot-3, 175–pound right-hander out of the Etobicoke Rangers’ system — and Pavlovic instantly stood out as a very intriguing arm.  Works downhill with intent and a loose, athletic operation.  FB 84–86 T86.5 jumped out of the hand with life, pairing with a CB 66–68 that showed shape and a SPL 69–71.  Projectable build and easy operation suggest there’s plenty more gas on the way.  Should be a name to keep close tabs on moving forward.

‘28 Callum Reid Oldridge (Ontario Terriers): Towering 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame with long, loose levers and a clean operation on the mound.  Intriguing arm out of the Terriers’ system who moves well downhill from an over-the-top slot.  Offers a three pitch mix with the  FB sitting 81–84 mph (2210+), complemented by a CB 70–74 (2250+) with feel for spin, and a CH at 70-72.  Plenty of projection left and should see steady gains as the frame continues to fill out.  A definite name to track in the ‘28 class.

‘27 SS/RHP Rohan Persad (Toronto Mets): 2027 SS/RHP Rohan Persad was a top performing two-way player at the Toronto Fall Invite, starting on the mound where his 84.1mph fastball was the fourth-hardest. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-hander has some intent in the delivery with a clean arm swing from a high-¾ arm slot and was able to locate the fastball with a 67% Strike%. Persad also featured a slider at 69-71mph and sinker at 82-83mph. The Toronto Mets infielder posted the top velocity at the position (87mph) where his actions play and also ran a 4.07 30-yard dash. At the dish, the right-handed hitter was working middle to oppo with a level swing that created plenty of line drives and a Sweet Spot% of 67%. Peak exit velocity of 91.8mph. Persad continues to get better each time we see him and added strength over the next 1.5 years will be key in his development.

‘29 C/RHP Matteo Harrison-Van Boort (HPP Tigers): 2029 C/RHP Matteo Harrison-Van Boort will be a player to watch in the coming years out of Ontario’s 2029 Class. The HPP Tigers product excels on both sides of the ball and it’s an athletic look at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds and still just 14.4 years old. Harrison Van Boort put together pop-times of 2.12-2.26 with a velocity of 71mph, a massive improvement from last fall. Offensively, the right-handed hitter was on-time more often than not with direct hands and bat speed, creating a peak exit velocity of 88mph and average of 81.8mph. His two quality rounds of BP were showcased with a Sweet Spot% of 46% and Line Drive% of 38%. On the mound, the arm strength is evident and it’s an easy, minimal effort delivery with a clean arm. The fastball was up to 82mph and paired it with a curveball and changeup. Some of the top metrics on Ontario’s 2029 Class and player to watch next summer as the class begins to come into the spotlight.

‘27 OF/RHP André Houde (London Badgers): 2027 OF/RHP André Houde is one of the top players in a strong group of 2027 players with the London Badgers and showcased his two-way potential at the Toronto Fall Invite. Lengthy frame with room for strength at 6-foot-4, 175-pounds and generated a top exit velocity of 87.6mph, although we’ve seen the right-handed hitter in the low-90s on multiple occasions. There was arm strength from the outfield position at 87mph and ran a 4.03 30-yard dash. On the mound, the right-hander sat 80-81 T81.8mph and also featured a sweeping slider at 65-67mph and cutter at 73-76mph. Houde put together a strong 2025 campaign and it will be interesting to see where he’s at following an offseason of training and lifting.

‘26 LHP Evan Mailloux (Tecumseh Thunder): 2026 LHP Evan Mailloux was one of the most intriguing seniors at the event and junior college/four-year programs in proximity to Windsor need to be on this arm. The left-handed pitcher stands at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds and works with good direction, leading to strikes/location and the ball comes out from a tough lower-¾ angle. The fastball sat 78-80mph and creates good armside run at 8.7” IVB/-17.6” HB. The Tecumseh Thunder product also featured a curveball at 68mph and changeup at 70-73mph. There looks to be plenty more in the tank from Mailloux and he already shows good feel for his entire arsenal.

‘26 SS Sam Blair (Tecumseh Thunder): The former New York State Games alum was back in full swing at the Toronto Fall Invite.  Blair is a gamer with the tools that show up between the white lines.  Showcased well on both sides of the ball, flashing quality actions on the turf and impact ability in the box.  Registered a Max EV of 93.3 mph with a peak distance of 293 feet, producing consistent loud contact throughout his rounds.  A ‘26 prospect that college coaches should circle back on in need of a reliable middle infielder.

‘27 OF Kaden Scott (Ontario Yankees): Scott is a left handed bat who looks to be just scratching the surface.  Shows easy rhythm in the box with a repeatable stroke and consistent ability to find the barrel.  Posted a Max EV of 91.4 mph, Peak Dist 359 ft, and Sweet Spot% of 67, highlighting feel for contact.  Also turned in a 3.91 sec 30-YD, showing some athleticism.  Strong foundation with metrics that should keep trending up as he continues to add strength to his 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame.

‘28 C Austin Burton (Fieldhouse Pirates): C/RHP Austin Burton is one of the top positional players in the 2028 class and the strength stands out for his age at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Big presence behind the dish with arm strength at 73mph, leading to pop-times of 1.95 - 2.12. He was also up to 82mph on the infield. Burton’s real impact comes with the left-handed bat where he generated a peak exit velocity of 89.1mph and average of 83mph, as well as a Sweet Spot% of 56% and Line Drive% of 50%. It was one of the more consistent rounds we saw on the day and Burton continues to mature and get better each time we see him.

‘27 SS Lucas Liao (Fieldhouse Pirates): 2027 SS Lucas Liao put together two of the best rounds of BP on Tuesday night and has already elevated from when we saw him in February. 5-foot-11, 170-pound shortstop out of the Fieldhouse Pirates program and he utilized the entire cage, barreling line-drives for a peak exit velocity of 87mph and average of 81mph. His peak distance of 313f was 5th at the event, Sweet Spot% of 61% was 9th and his Line Drive% of 46% was 7th. On the infield Liao was up to 77mph and ran a 4.24 30-yard dash, his best so far this year. The best we’ve seen Liao so far as he prepares for his junior campaign.
