2025 Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year - Kruz Schoolcraft

For the second consecutive season, 2025 LHP/1B Kruz Schoolcraft (Sunset) has earned the 2025 Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year Award.

The top-ranked senior in the state and the 15th ranked player in Prep Baseball's national rankings, Schoolcraft continued to showcase his elite skillset this spring. The two-way player and Tennessee commit totaled 54 IP on the mound, allowing just 3 earned runs for a 0.39 ERA. The 6'8 lefty had 96 K's and 16 BB's with a miniscule .125 opponent's batting average. Schoolcraft was at his best when it mattered the most, throwing a complete game in the state semi's and the final inning in the state championship to win a 6A state title.

Schoolcraft was also a force to be reckoned with at the plate, slashing .482/.637/.906 from the left hand side. The senior had 10 home runs, 6 doubles, and 30 RBI in his final high school season. Schoolcraft also drew 37 walks while striking out just 4 times and scored 30 runs overall. 

Schoolcraft was first seen this spring by Prep Baseball's VP/Scouting Shooter Hunt in April, where he mowed through Aloha High School's lineup and flashed premium stuff.

From 4/9/25... "4S: 93-96 (some sizzle down to GS), 2S: 91-93 (control>command, ASR), SL: 76-81 (2200, short sweep. Tighter), CH: 83-84. Methodical w/ effortless velo. Upper 9s likely as spring unfolds. SL flashed AA. Frame stands out."

The elite arm talent was seen recently in the 6A state semifinals, where he went the distance against McMinnville High School while allowing no earned runs.

From 6/5/25... "The athletic, big lefty pitched off an advanced CH w/velo running up to 97, mixing in a BB for a K. FB 91-95 T97 (2S ASR/4S kicks), CB 75-79 sweep, CH 84-88 good fade. Final line: 7IP 2H 1R 1BB 6K."

Schoolcraft capped off his incredible high school career with his first state title, reaching base four times at the dish and closing out the final inning on the mound to secure the 6A state championship for Sunset High School over the weekend. The senior has had an exceptional trajectory to this point and could very well hear his name called in the first round of this summer's MLB Draft.
