A little more than two weeks remains until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Souderton Area 2018 RHP Blaise Sclafani.
The junior made a name for himself sitting 81-84 with an up tempo delivery out of a 3/4 arm slot at the Pennsylvania Travel Baseball Championships in August. The former primary catcher, in his first year of concentrating his efforts on the mound, starts with a side rocker step and utilizes his 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame effectively in getting over his front leg routinely. Sclafani also commanded a solid slider with late break at 71 mph as his primary secondary pitch in working four innings with one run allowed on two hits.
Sclafani was just as effective in a three-inning outing at the Eastern PA Fall Review in late September. Working quickly and efficiently the righty struck out seven while not allowing a hit. Of the four balls put in play off of him, none left the infield.
