Scouting Report

9/25/20

Physical: Quality athleticism throughout a solid / durable 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with strength in the movements. 7.08 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: LHH. Tall, open stance with the hands showing quick, controlled rhythm by the head. Utilized a move backwards with the hands coupled with a leg-hang stride to initiate a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Stayed relatively high with the posture throughout the swing, hit into a tall and stiff front side at impact. Demonstrated advanced feel for the hands in the box with ability to manipulate the bat head inside the baseball at will. Solid fluidity and connection between the upper/lower halves allowed for above average hand speed (24.50 mph per Blast Motion) and a short time to contact at the plate. Consistently gets his swing off in game action and is a tough out at the plate, recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 93 mph according to Trackman Baseball / top batted ball distance of 346 feet and 25% hard hit rate. Impressive overall round with advanced maturity in the box.

Defensively: The primary first baseman featured a low center of gravity with active footwork, got downhill through the fielding window with a soft glove hand playing smoothly out in front, fielded off of the inside of the right foot with direction towards the target. Accurate, ¾ slot across the diamond out of a medium arm circle. Was able to use inside turns on double play footwork and showcased quality feel around the bag. INF - 77 mph

Pitching: LHP - Starts from the right side of the rubber with a side rocker step, medium high leg lift with a slight hip coil, short and quick arm circle out of a high ¾ slot as the lower half drives and races down the mound, gets over the front side well on delivery. FB ranged from 79-80 mph with slight arm side run and upwards of 1983 spin per Trackman Baseball, mixed in a 65-66 mph CB with 11/5 shape and late downer action, max of 2181 spin. Countered with a sharp 67-68 mph slider with horizontal plane across the zone.

7/15/20

Physical: Strong and athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with feel for his body. 7.03 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: LHH. Started tall and wide open with a slight bend into the backside in the setup as the hands began with minor rhythm at the shoulder. Utilized a repeatable and controlled leg hang stride in order to initiate a flat barrel path with lift after contact through the hitting zone. Above average feel for a dominant top hand in the box yielding high level bat to ball skills and hard contact at the plate / recorded a 33% line drive rate during batting practice. Generated a mainly pull-side approach towards RCF but could stay on the baseball when he wanted to and shoot it back up the middle by keeping the hands inside it longer. Registered a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary first baseman featured solid feel around the bag with a medium-low center of gravity and a soft glove hand that played accurately out in front. Active footwork with rhythm to the approach, fielded off the right side of the body with momentum towards the target, accurate high ¾ arm-slot on throws across the diamond. INF - 77 mph

Pitching: LHP - Side rocker step with a high leg lift above the waist, slight hip coil at the top of the stack, good direction towards the plate with dowhill plane out of a quick, high ¾ slot. Electric hand speed on a 78-80 mph FB with slight arm-side run into LHH / up to 1983 spin. Mixed in a tight 65-67 mph breaker with 1/7 shape and late depth and countered with a 70-72 mph KN.
