West Florence 11 Lugoff-Elgin 8

West Florence traveled to Lugoff-Elgin to face off in a big high school baseball showdown. Both teams have strong players and a history of winning, making this a game to watch. Big region matchup to get going on the early season, with lots of talented players all over the field for both squads.

Avery Weaver, 2027, SS, West Florence

Got things going early for West Florence as he was able to drive a ball over the SS head for a 1B.  Good job of pulling hands in and getting barrel to the ball.  At SS showed smooth actions with good work and good arm strength.  He begins in a balanced stance with hands near the back shoulder, preparing for the swing. He load onto the back leg and create separation with a controlled stride. His hands flow through the zone efficiently. Contact is made out front with good extension. The follow-through is high and balanced.
