TN: JUCO: Walters State Intersquad

On Wednesday, Walters State held their second inter-squad of the year. We were on hand to get a look at the returning players and the incoming freshman for the National Runner-ups. Below are notes on select players (check out the Twitter feed for some video highlights!):

ALEX HAYNES / RHP / 3B / KNOXVILLE CENTRAL, TN / 2016FB (88-90, T91), CB (69-71), CH (81) Tennessee commit, 6-3, 205-pounder showed a swing and miss CH, generating 2 of 3 swing and misses on the pitch. Tall, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable. Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber. Works with a pre-set back foot w/ short rocker step. Super quick arm w/ loose arm action. Quiet, repeatable delivery. Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run. Medium downer CB, tendency to get under the pitch, come up out of hand, loopy. CH w/ arm-speed, fade and sink, flashes as a put-away pitch, will throw to RHH. Strike-thrower flashes ability to pitch w/ intent, projects to command. |
