The Hotlist: Class Of 2017 Winter Standouts
January 21, 2015
By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff
Last week, we looked at some juniors that stood out at winter events so now it’s time to highlights some sophomores, all of which are currently uncommitted.
Oraj Anu, OF/1B, Homeschooled, FL
Anu is a physical specimen with a live, athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. His actions in the outfield are raw, but he presently has plus arm strength. The son of an Olympian, he is ambidextrous and a switch-hitter. He throws with his right hand from the outfield and uses his left at first base where he has decent actions. Anu’s swing has quickness and strength, showing big power from both sides of the plate with more to come. He has a handsy swing with some length and leverage, but creates bat speed, throwing the barrel at the ball. His mother ran in the 1984 Olympics for the Bahamas and has passed her speed down as Anu ran a 6.5-second 60 this winter. He is currently homeschooled and won’t play in the spring, but he has received interest from high profile Division I schools and will play with Florida Travel Ball this summer.
