COACH’S QUOTE

“We are looking to play really good defense. Our goal is to score 7 runs per game. We are looking at a very young pitching staff. We are excited to see us Compete at the Varsity level. 2026 is going to be a fun and exciting year.”

- Ronnie Wulf, Santa Fe Head Coach

TEAM OUTLOOK

Following a successful 2025 campaign that saw the Santa Fe Indians reach the 5A Area Round with a 17-13 record, the program enters the 2026 season under Head Coach Ronnie Wulf. Wulf, a four-time Coach of the Year with 617 career wins, will look to leverage the team’s primary strength in defense to navigate the 2026 schedule. While the roster features a significant turnover in personnel, the program's recent playoff experience provides a solid foundation for the upcoming year.

The Indians face the difficult task of replacing several high-impact departures, including District Co-MVP Ronnie Rouse and several All-District selections who have moved on to the collegiate level. Most notably, the pitching staff undergoes a complete overhaul, as the team returns zero starting pitchers and only one relief pitcher from last season. The loss of key arms like Trenton Lewis and Jarret Williams means the Indians will rely heavily on new talent to step up on the mound.

Despite the pitching vacancies, the outlook is brightened by the return of seven position players. The lineup will be anchored by experienced upperclassmen such as 1B/LHP Rowdy Loftin, OF Johnathan Baccinelli, and 3B/RHP Talan Morgan. This veteran core will be complemented by a promising group of newcomers and freshmen, including multi-positional players like Hunter Wimberley and Calvin Van Horn, who are expected to compete immediately at the varsity level. They will also add more youth to the pitching staff in Cooper Davenport, Colton Wright, Reed Derouen, Max Feimster, and Steven Henderson. With the returning experience they have in their lineup, look for the Indians to compete for another playoff berth in 2026.
