Nathan Rode

LAKE TRAVIS, TX—Mother Nature always plays a major role in spring travel and she doesn’t always play nice, but Monday was an exception. With potential weather coming in Tuesday, Lake Travis HS, TX, moved its game up to Monday and RHP Storm Hierholzer was on the bump.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Texas Christian recruit dominated over five innings in a 10-0 win, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit. He needed just 63 pitches to get through the start, throwing 75 percent strikes. Seven of his strikeouts came on swings and eight were on the slider. He struck out the side in the first, needing just 11 pitches to do so, and struck out the first batter of the second. The next two grounded out and singled before Hierholzer got a guy looking on a slider. In the third, he struck out one, got a groundout to shortstop and a pop out to left. He struck out the next six straight to seal the mercy rule win.
