Liberty Christian Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Sunday, January 18th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Rocker B Ranch in Graford, TX, to host the Liberty Christian Scout Day, an event exclusively for members of the Liberty Christian Baseball Program.
More than 45 players made their way to Rocker B Ranch this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Drake Hawpe | OF | 2027 | L/L | 6’4” 215 | LSU Commit
Physically imposing athlete who has added noticeable strength this offseason with still more room to come. Plus runner (6.73 60) with a plus arm showing carry (93 mph OF velo). Impact bat with consistent loud contact, topped 108+ EV and averaged 101+ EV in BP. Clear 2027 follow. Also threw a short bullpen, working up to 92 mph with carry through the zone. Slider showed 2300+ spin with sweep/slurvy action. Premium tools on both sides of the ball.
Tyler King | OF | 2027 | R/R | 6’3” 200 | Texas State Commit
Has added strength to a lean frame this offseason with more physical upside ahead. Well-above-average runner (6.43 60) with strong acceleration and stolen-base potential. Plus arm with carry (93 mph OF velo). Offensive production continues to trend up, highlighted by increased consistency of hard contact (100+ EV). Athletic outfielder with tools that continue to sharpen; strong 2027 follow.
Ben Brown | RHP | 2026 | R/R | 6’1” 215 | Abilene Christian Commit
Strong, durable build. Repeats delivery and arm action well with developing arm speed. Short bullpen had the fastball up to 88, with more expected in the spring. FB showed effective carry and arm-side life. Cutter/slider featured quality action and finish, touching 82 with solid spin. Also mixed a slurvy breaking ball and a changeup with tail/sink. Proven strike-thrower and reliable in-game performer.
Zachary Drew | SS | 2026 | R/R | 6’1” 180 | Central Arkansas Commit
Well-proportioned frame with added strength over the past year. Defensive actions are present at shortstop with raw arm strength. Offensively showed real pop in BP, topping 103 EV, with developing pull-side power. Physical gains are translating on the field. Continues to trend upward.
Paul Fussell | 2B | 2026 | R/R | 5’10” 176 | North Central Texas Commit
Solid build with room to continue adding strength. Has run 6.73 60 in the past. Reliable defender with versatility and sound actions. Line-drive hitter who consistently finds the barrel, with emerging pull-side power. Steady, dependable baseball player.
Alec Andrews | C/2B | 2027 | R/R | 6’0” 195 | Uncommitted
Strong frame with additional strength coming. Did not run this event (previous 7.15 60). Solid receiver who moves well behind the plate; throws showed developing carry. Impact potential at the plate with 101+ EV, showing pull-side raw power. Aggressive approach with bat speed. Continues to progress as the tools firm.

Projects well physically with strength gains ahead. Posted a 7.25 60, speed expected to improve. Developing defensive actions on the infield with raw arm strength that will continue to come. Aggressive hitter who produces hard contact (101+ EV) with pull-side juice. Intriguing bat. Spring follow.

Athletic with clear physical projection. Plus runner (6.66 60) with quick feet and present defensive actions. Shows raw arm strength across the diamond and real impact at the plate (100+ EV, pull-side power).
On the mound, athletic arm with FB up to 88 that should firm in the spring. Four-seam shows carry; two-seam features tail/sink. Sweepy/slurvy breaking ball at 74 and a changeup with quality turnover (78). High-upside two-way follow.

Solid frame with room for strength gains. Ran 7.31 60. Moves well behind the plate with sound receiving; raw arm strength will continue to develop. Showed ability to impact the baseball with line-drive contact and flashes of pull-side power. Developing player trending forward.
