McLennan CC Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Thursday, September 18th, the PB Texas staff traveled to McLennan Community College in Waco, TX, to host the McLennan CC Scout Day.
Position Players participated in batting practice and infield/outfield, while Pitchers threw one inning in a scrimmage setting against live hitters, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
Today, we will be providing our scouting takeaways on the event's top performers, found below.

Pitchers (1-Inning Looks)
Tyler Sunseri | RHP | RS Fr | 6’4” 220
Physical build with present strength and arm speed. Works from a true three-quarter slot. Fastball sat 94–96 mph with carry (17" IVB) and spun up to 2500 rpm. Curveball at 81–82 mph with 2600 spin; average action now with projectable plus shape. Flashed a mid-80s slider in warmups (DNS in game). Miss potential with both FB and CB.
Charlie Kinkaid | RHP | So | 6’4” 235
Imposing frame; passes the eye test. Repeats delivery well with clean arm action from a low three-quarter slot and good extension. Fastball sat 91–93 mph with tail action. Did not show secondary. Strike thrower with poise; FB plays well. Velocity likely to tick up further.
Gage Goldman | LHP | So | 6’6” 205
Tall, lean build with projection. Repeats delivery; long arm action from a low three-quarter slot. Fastball 88–92 mph (90 avg) with 15 IVB. Sweepy/slurvy slider at 2500+ spin; flashes average shape when landed. Changeup 77 mph. Around the zone throughout; velo jump likely with maturity.
Jacob Evans | RHP | Fr | 6’0” 205
Deceptive delivery with short-arm action from a sidearm slot. Quick arm with life to the FB. Fastball sat 89–92 mph with tail/sink and negative IVB. Sweeping slurve at 73–76 mph, 2300+ spin, flashes quality shape. Creates uncomfortable at-bats with deception and arm speed. Velo should continue to climb.
Gino Zagorac | RHP | Fr | 6’4” 190
Lean, lanky build with room to add strength. Compact arm circle from a high three-quarter slot. Fastball 88–91 mph (17+ IVB avg). Curveball 74–75 mph with 2200 spin. Developing changeup with tail/sink action. Frame, arm speed, and pitchability point to future gains.
Michael Peavy | RHP | Fr | 6’0” 175
Solid build with arm speed. Fastball sat 89–92 mph with tailing life. Slurvy breaking ball at 76–77 mph spun above 2700 rpm at times, showing flashes of tight action. Changeup at 85 mph with fade. Intriguing three-pitch mix; arm quickness stands out.
Sam Elrich | RHP | Fr | 5’11” 190
Both showed the ability to spin the baseball at 2700+ rpm with average shape. Fastballs for both worked 87–90 mph. Foundation present to develop breaking pitches into weapons.
Hitters
Brady Quinn | 1B | Fr | 6’1” 220 | R/R
Strong, physical build with athletic actions at 1B. Impact bat with loud contact throughout BP; top exit velo 107 mph. In-game roped a hard 2B to RCF. Well-above-average runner for size; not a clogger. Power bat with middle-of-the-order profile.
Samuel Jenkins | OF/1B | RS Fr | 6’2” 210 | L/L
Impressive frame; looks the part. LHH with strength and power projection. Showed advanced approach using all fields. Versatile defender between corner OF and 1B. Consistent hard contact; top exit velo 106 mph. Offensive upside bat.
Hayden Crites | C | So | 6’0” 200 | S/R
Switch-hitting catcher with solid, durable build. Shows pull-side power from both sides; consistent hard contact (105 EV). Received well in scrimmage and flashed raw arm strength on throws to 2B. Quality ABs; balanced skillset behind the plate.
Miles Ghossein | INF | RS Fr | 6’2” 190 | R/R
Strong, athletic frame with room for more. Quality RHH with simple, direct path; consistent barrels and hard contact (103 EV). Infield versatility with smooth actions. Solid all-around showing; offensive consistency stood out.
Peyton Firgens | INF | So | 6’1” 200 | L/L
Athletic infielder with good build and quick hands. Moved well defensively with steady actions. LHH with line-drive approach and pull-side pop; top EV 103. Quality ABs in scrimmage, showing ability to work counts and use all fields.
Nathan Tobin | OF | So | 5’11” 185 | L/L
Athletic OF with strength coming. Plus runner with range. LHH with hit approach and pull power; consistent contact in BP (102 EV). Quality ABs in scrimmage with all-fields approach.
Brody Chyr | OF | So | 6’1” 185 | L/L
Athletic build with quick-twitch actions. LHH with simple stroke and pull-side pop. Steady defender with carry to throws. Hard-hit 2B in scrimmage; quality offensive showing.
Joey Castro | OF | Fr | 5’9” 190 | S/R
Switch-hitting OF with compact, strong build. Moves well defensively; solid actions. Bat quickness and quality approach from both sides. Multiple hard-hit balls in scrimmage, including a double.
