Mizuno Pitcher & Hitter of the Week (Week 3)

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state.
Thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.
Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 3 (Mar 3-Mar 9).
MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cole Koeninger SS / RHP / Keller, TX / 2026Koeninger had an outstanding performance in Week 3, showcasing his offensive firepower at the plate. Across 21 at-bats, he posted an impressive .476 batting average and an eye-popping 1.665 OPS. Koeninger collected 10 hits, including 5 doubles and 3 home runs, driving in 9 runs to fuel Keller's offense. *2/27/25

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Hunter Ortiz RHP / 1B / Byron Nelson, TX / 2025Hunter Ortiz delivered a dominant performance on the mound in Week 3, overpowering hitters with precision and poise. Across 6.1 innings, he allowed just 1 hit while keeping the scoreboard clean with no runs or walks surrendered. His command was on full display as he racked up 12 strikeouts, completely shutting down the opposing lineup. Ortiz’s dominant outing, led to a Byron Nelson 2-0 victory. *3/1/25
