Twelve Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Saturday, September 13th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Cotton Sports Ranch in Katy, TX to host the Texas Twelve Scout Day. The day consisted of two sessions. We began in the morning with the 2026 group and continued in the afternoon with the 2027's & 2028's.
Players ran a 60, threw from defensive positions and took BP on the field. Pitchers threw bullpens where their TrackMan data was recorded.
Today, we take a look at some of the standouts on the day.
2026's
Hudson Davenport | 1B/OF | L/L | 6’3” 185
Strong frame with plenty of room to add strength. Moves well on the field with a 7.12 60. Shows consistent hard contact in BP with a top exit velo of 102 and steady barrel control. Projects as a reliable defender in the outfield with present arm strength and versatility to also handle first base. Should develop into a plus arm at the next level. Game video confirms a sound hit approach with consistent hard contact. Future bat/power combo makes him a high-upside player.
On the mound he features a short, compact arm stroke and a clean delivery with good direction down the slope. Fastball sat 85-86 with strike-throwing ability. Curveball sat 73-74 with command, though it could firm up. Changeup at 78 showed some sink. His best secondary right now is the cutter at 79-80 with late sweep. With his easy delivery and build, he could be touching the low 90s by next summer.
Jeremiah Hokenson | C/RHP | Home School | R/R | 5’11” 160
Catcher with raw arm strength and quick release, posting workout pop times of 1.85–1.94 and 1.97 in-game. Shows developing pull-side power in BP with an all-fields approach in game action. Bat speed is average but improving. Moves well with a 7.25 60. Solid overall skill set with catch-and-throw ability and room to grow his offensive impact.
On the mound, Hokenson is a very intriguing arm. He has just started pitching yet showed ability to repeat delivery with some feel. With an athletic build and a short arm action, his FB sat 85-86 with some late life. SL sat 72-73 and could be firmed up. CU sat 79-80 and was sharp. Although unpolished, it will not take much to get this low mileage arm in solid working order. Ton of upside.
Daniel J. O’Briant | C | Tomball HS | L/R | 5’10” 190
Solidly built catcher with consistent workout pop times of 2.00–2.02 and accurate throws. LHH with a steady approach and reliable barrel contact. Defensively, shows good mobility with steady footwork behind the plate. Video scouting highlighted his aggressive throwing (2.00 in-game pop time) and quality swings from the left side. Reliable receiver and consistent thrower with a polished offensive approach.
Clayton Crosby | OF | The Bennett School | L/L | 6’2” 185
Athletic frame that will add strength. Shows present arm strength with tail to throws and moves well defensively. Offensively, has an easy swing with a line-drive approach, consistently finding the barrel. Handles the bat well now and projects to improve his impact as strength develops.
On the mound, Crosby is a left-hander who shows athleticism and projection. Currently sits 82-84, touching 85, with room for more velocity as he matures. Shows pitchability and feel for three pitches. Slider at 71-72 has sweeping action, while his changeup at 77-78 shows arm-side run. An athletic arm still tapping into his full potential with a bright future on both sides of the ball.
Caden Hoff | INF | Fulshear HS | R/R | 5’10” 165
Athletic infielder with room for strength gains. Plus runner (6.64 60) with solid defensive actions up the middle and carry across the infield. Shows a strong offensive approach with consistent barrel skills and present pull-side power. Game video backs up his approach and bat speed. Middle-infielder profile with speed, quickness, and developing power.
Carson Holamon | INF | Oak Ridge HS | R/R | 5’11” 167
Good frame with projection for added strength. Defensively shows developing glove actions and solid arm strength with carry. A 6.93 runner with athletic field actions. Offensively, has a line-drive approach with his best swings working middle of the field. Game video confirmed consistent contact to the middle and inner half. Projects as a steady contact hitter with more strength to come.
Kalyn Johnson | INF | Second Baptist | R/R | 5’10” 165
Athletic frame with room to grow. Plus runner (6.84 60) with quick feet and developing defensive actions. Arm strength is raw but projectable. Offensively, shows bat speed and a top exit velo of 100.2. Can get big at times with his swing, but when under control produces quality contact. Game video showed aggressive swings with hard pull-side contact. Projects for a strong hit/power combo as he matures.
Ian Palacios | INF/OF | Tompkins HS | R/R | 6’1” 184
Solid build with present strength. Moves well with past 6.84 run time. Defensively offers versatility, showing actions in the infield and athletic reads in the outfield, paired with raw arm strength. At the plate, has an aggressive swing with consistent barrel control and 100+ exit velos. Video confirmed consistent contact and power projection. Strength, versatility, and offensive impact stand out.
David Rheaume | OF/RHP | Strake Jesuit | L/R | 6’3” 185
Tall, physical frame with projection. Posted a 6.93 60 and moves well defensively with clean footwork. Shows arm strength with carry on throws. Offensively, makes consistent hard contact with a top exit velo of 100.7 and some natural lift in the swing. Video confirmed quality swings and contact. Two-way potential with upside on both sides.
On the mound he works out of the stretch. Has a full arm swing with a high leg lift. FB sits 85-86 with more in the tank. Breaking ball has good spin and will continue to improve. CH sits 77-78 firm. The athleticism plays and is just tapping into his potential. Plenty of upside.
Ryan Steele | CF | Victoria East HS | R/R | 6’0” 195
Strong, athletic build with present lower-half strength. Premium runner (6.52 60) with impact speed that plays in center field. Moves well to the baseball with present arm strength and potential for more. At the plate, shows consistent barrel contact, pull-side power, and extra-base ability. Game swings highlighted his speed-pressure offense and hard contact. Profiles as a well-above-average runner with power upside in CF.
2027's & 2028's
Luke Betancourt | INF | Fulshear HS | 2027 | 6’1” 160
Projectable frame with room to add strength. Posted a 6.91 60. Shows solid actions on the infield with arm strength and carry. Consistent contact in BP with developing bat speed and strength. Projects as a shortstop with a bat/power combo that should continue to improve with maturity.
Jackie Bryant | OF | The Bennett School | 2027 | 5’9” 175
Compact frame with room for strength gains. Shows a sound hit approach with pull-side power, consistently finding the barrel for hard contact. Steady corner outfielder with present arm strength and a 7.11 60. Average athleticism but advanced bat—performed well at the Future Games with quality at-bats and in-game contact.
Jhett Bubke | C | Magnolia HS | 2027 | 6’2” 205
Strongly built catcher with room to add strength. Recorded workout pop times at 2.00 with raw arm strength that will continue to develop. Offensively, shows pull-side power with lift in his swing and posted one of the event’s top exit velos at 101+. Receives well with tools to grow into a power-hitting backstop.
Cash McWhorter | CF/3B | The Woodlands HS | 2027 | 6’3” 175
Excellent frame with athleticism and projection. Ran a 6.62 60 and could already grade as a well-above-average runner. Moves well in the outfield with arm strength and carry. At the plate, shows a balanced approach using all fields with quick hands. Profiles as a high-upside athlete with the potential to add significant power production.
Dominic Naylor | INF | Cedar Park HS | 2027 | 6’2” 205
Strong, physical build with room to add more. Has run a 6.87 60. Defensively shows developing actions with present arm strength. Aggressive swinger with the intent to do damage—posted a 103.4 exit velo. Consistent hard contact with pull-side power. Stays in the infield long term with a strong bat/power profile.
On the mound, there is some size and projection. Fastball sits 87-90, topping 91, with ride at the top of the zone (2300+ rpm). Curveball at 72-73 shows depth and spin over 2500 rpm. Changeup shows arm-side run. Athleticism and arm speed stand out, with upside on both sides of the ball.
Noah Powell | C | The Bennett School | 2027 | 5’10” 165
Compact build with room for strength gains. Catcher with arm strength, though accuracy can sharpen. At the plate, shows a solid hit approach with hard contact and developing pull-side power. Average bat speed with potential to improve. Ran a 7.12 60 and looked steady receiving in bullpens. Offensive upside and catch-and-throw skill set stand out.
Joseph Young | C/1B | A&M Consolidated HS | 2027 | 6’2” 205
Strong build with athleticism and projection. Plus runner for his size with a 6.68 60. Shows arm strength and carry from behind the plate, with defensive versatility to handle multiple spots. At the plate, has a strong hit approach with real power, showing the ability to leave the yard with authority. An athletic, versatile defender with an impact bat.
Austin Hanel | 1B/OF | Concordia Lutheran | 2028 | 6’3” 200
Projectable frame with plenty of room for added strength. Ran a 7.18 60 and moves well for his size. Offensively, shows a sound approach with developing pull-side power and consistent hard contact. Did not work out defensively on this day. Power will continue to emerge as he matures.
Braden Hugenberg | CF | Katy HS | 2028 | 5’10” 165
Athletic frame with projection. Plus runner with a 6.78 60 and covers ground well in the outfield. Offensively, shows a line-drive approach with consistent contact and ability to handle the bat. Speed should continue to tick up with maturity. A true CF profile with offensive upside.
Keaton Jeffcoat | INF | Willis HS | 2028 | 5’11” 158
Lean, athletic build with room for strength. Ran a 6.97 60 and projects as a plus runner long term. Defensively shows solid actions with footwork and glove skills. Offensively, shows bat speed with consistent hard contact. Projects well as a middle infielder with athleticism, bat speed, and developing strength.
Eli Smith | C | The Woodlands HS | 2028 | 5’11” 190
Strong frame for the position with room for added strength. Showed arm strength in workouts with quality pop times. Offensively, has bat speed with a consistent ability to barrel baseballs. Projects to increase impact as strength develops. Received well in bullpens. A physical catcher with catch-and-throw ability and offensive upside.
Cole Coffman | RHP | St. John’s School (Houston) | 2027 | 6’4” 190
Projectable frame with size and room to add strength. Works from the stretch with a slightly closed setup and a high-¾ slot. Delivery shows good tempo and aggressiveness down the slope. Fastball sat 86-88, topping 89, with arm-side run. Breaking ball is more of a slurve at 72-74 with good spin. Changeup at 78-80 shows sink. A high-upside arm who projects well moving forward.
Luke Hardy | RHP | Brenham HS | 2027
Intriguing right-hander with multiple usable pitches. Compact arm path, fastball at 86-87 with heavy sink and arm-side run. Changeup at 81 mirrors the fastball with similar life, while slider at 79 shows late break. Effective three-pitch mix with feel. A strong follow with starter traits.
Keldon Kemp | RHP | Sinton HS | 2027
Athletic mover on the mound with a clean arm path. Uses a side rocker with a high leg lift and high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 84-86 with arm-side run. Spins the curveball well (2300–2400 rpm) with feel. Changeup at 79-80 shows sink. Shows command of a three-pitch mix and projection to add more.
Camden Kurtz | RHP | Concordia Lutheran | 2027
Quick-armed right-hander sitting 84-86. Sound delivery with good rhythm and timing, allowing him to command the zone. Spins the baseball well—slider at 76-77 (2500–2600 rpm) and curveball at 72-73 (2500–2600 rpm). High spin rates and a compact delivery give him a solid foundation to build upon.
Neil Raju | RHP | Bridgeland HS | 2027
Tall frame with projection remaining. Works from the stretch with a compact arm stroke and good hand speed. Fastball sits 85-86 with downhill plane and late life. Curveball at 71-72, splitter at 75, and cutter at 74-75 add to his arsenal. Developing arm with multiple pitches and room to make big strides.
Karson Shulz | RHP | Clear Springs HS | 2027 | 5’10” 175
Quick, clean arm with a repeatable delivery. Fastball sat 89-90 with late life. Slider at 74-76 showed more sweep than depth, while a single changeup at 80 was thrown with fastball arm speed. Still has room to add size and strength, and his arm speed suggests mid-90s potential down the road.
Anthony Menchaca | RHP | James Earl Rudder HS | 2027 | 6’2” 220
Strong-bodied right-hander working from the stretch with a deliberate delivery and over-the-top slot. Fastball sits 81-83, topping 84, with downhill plane. Slider at 70-72 and changeup at 75 round out the mix. Physical presence with a clean arm swing and room to sharpen stuff as he matures.
Drew Friedl | RHP | Strake Jesuit | 2028
Up-and-coming arm with length in the arm swing and a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 82-83 with arm-side run. Changeup at 77-78 also shows run. Best secondary is the cutter at 76 with tight spin. Developing curveball at 72-73. Has arm speed and projection to emerge as a reliable starter with continued development.
Nolan Home | RHP | The Woodlands HS | 2028
Athletic young arm with a clean path. Fastball 83-85, showing command of both four-seam and two-seam variations, with the latter carrying strong arm-side run. Slider at 74 with depth and changeup at 76-77 with sink and run. Shows natural movement on all pitches and plenty of velocity upside.
Ethan Sidener | LHP | Cinco Ranch HS | 2028 | 6’1” 200
Compact arm action from the left side with a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 81-83 with arm-side run. Curveball is already a plus secondary pitch, spinning at 2600+ rpm with sharp depth at 72-73. Strong frame with hand speed and clear upside potential.
Cole Warren | RHP | The Woodlands HS | 2028
Quick-armed right-hander with projection. Uses a side rocker with medium/high leg lift, finishing toward first base. Fastball sits 82-83. Curveball at 66-67 spins at 2300+ rpm, slider at 72, and changeup at 75 round out the arsenal. Spins all pitches well and should see his stuff continue to develop with maturity.
