X-FACTOR

The Raiders look confidently towards SS/RHP Jace Mataczynski (2026) who brings increased size and athleticism with a 6-foot-3, 183 pound frame. The rising junior has propped up his offensive potential with increased impact at the plate, upping his previous max exit velocity while finding the barrel more consistently. With the added impact Mataczynski could see his offensive production significantly increase and could hit his way into the middle of Hudson’s lineup. Defensively one of the top shortstops in the state, his athletic and twitchy actions at SS and high-end arm will play a key role in Hudson’s success this season. Mataczynski is expected to see the mound this year as a top reliever arm and may see some starts later in the year. He runs his FB up to 93 mph with an up-tempo delivery that he repeats, attacking hitters downhill with his entire arsenal.

NEWCOMER TO WATCH

LHP/INF Mark Susa (2027) looks to assume the ace role following the graduated arms from last spring. The 6-foot-4, 179 pound Susa saw limited innings last year, but brings increased velocity and command from the left side offers a high ceiling for the rising sophomore. Looking to attack with every pitch, Susa routinely works in the zone with an advanced three pitch mix, a mid-80s fastball with a two plane breaking ball and changeup to pair.

TEAM OUTLOOK

“We're excited about this young and athletic roster. There is a great blend of experienced seniors along with a talented returning core of sophomores and juniors. ” – Brent Blegen, head coach

Hudson will certainly depend on a few familiar names aside from Mataczynski to make a deep run in the 2025 season. Names to follow this year are St.Thomas commit INF/RHP Sam Abrahamson (2026) and C/OF Logan Hagman (2027)

Abrahamson is strong and athletic, standing at 6-foot, 186 pound frame. Defensively he has showcased a natural and smooth glove with the arm strength capable of playing any position in the INF. Another bat expected to bring life to the Hudson lineup, Abrahamson looks to add onto his 2024 campaigns 2 home runs and .343 batting average, capable of producing runs in the middle of the lineup.

Hagman is coming off a thrilling freshman campaign where he slugged 4 home runs with a .367 batting average before ultimately being named to Third Team All-State. Hagman is an athletic and physical 6-foot, 197 pound frame that will behind the plate this spring for the Raiders. The right-handed hitter was one of the top performers in the state as a freshman and looks to build on his previous spring as a sophomore

Rounding off the lineup for the Raiders are OF Sam Manchester (2026), OF Steele Homme (2025), OF Hunter Oswald (2025), INF Silas Heisler and INF Bennett Brathol (2025, Concordia St. Paul).

Brathol was a performer last fall at the Wisconsin State Games, a physical right-handed hitter flashed easy power at the plate with feel to elevate. Giving the Raiders another potential run producer in the lineup.

On the mound the talent runs deep headlined by the upside of Susa and Mataczynski, the aforementioned Abrahamson will be relied on in an increased role as a starter this spring. The right-hander has shown feel for a mid-80s fastball that he leverages downhill with a sharp breaking ball off of it.

RHP Nick Hirsch (2025, Wabash Valley JC) has shown multiple swing and miss pitches when thrown near the zone. The senior right-hander has collected strikeouts in bunches in front of our staff with a four-pitch mix, the fastball reaches the upper-80s with feel for both a slider and changeup and a developing curveball to round off the arsenal.

RHP Mitchell Anderson (2025) is a senior right-hander that will be relied on this spring. Anderson has shown an uptick in velocity over the winter with a sharp breaking ball.

Rounding off the staff are the aforementioned right-handers Brathol and Heisler who will both be featured out of the pen for the Raiders this spring.

LHP Bergen Aune (2026) rounds off the staff, the left-hander offers a unique and deceptive look to the staff. Crossfire delivery with an upside arsenal, the fastball works in the mid-80s with life, flashing feel for two different and bigger breaking balls to pair with a heavy changeup.

BOTTOM LINE

Hudson is acclimated to winning and they look to continue to do so. Returning a lot of key pieces to both the pitching staff and the lineup, the Raiders will lean on the experience of the 11 returners this spring.
