As the summer circuit winds down and players shift their focus toward the fall, we’ve released our latest update to the Arizona Class of 2028 Player Rankings. This marks the second revision of the year, highlighted by movement within the Top 30. Strong spring performances carried into the summer, where several prospects elevated their profiles and began to separate themselves as some of the state’s premier rising sophomores.

Our evaluation process remains fluid and ongoing, built on live in game looks, showcase data, and continuous conversations with coaches and scouts to ensure the most accurate read on each player. While some prospects may rise quickly, it doesn’t always signal regression from others; development is a long term process with natural peaks and valleys. With the fall season ahead, new names are sure to emerge and add even more depth to Arizona’s 2028 class. Our local and national scouting staff will continue to work in close collaboration, keeping these rankings as current and reflective as possible.

THE TOP-10 IN THE CLASS OF 2028 ⭐

Ian Palumbo OF / LHP / Brophy Prep, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 74 / POS: 21 Ian takes the nuber one spot in our 2028 state rankings. He checks a lot of boxes early with a long, athletic frame and a L/L profile that’s hard to ignore. He moves well in the outfield with fluid actions and plenty of arm strength, while his left-handed swing shows natural lift and emerging power. With his blend of athleticism, versatility, and projection, Ian looks the part of a high-end prospect in Arizona’s 2028 class.

Cooper LeRoy RHP / 1B / Mesquite, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 83 / POS: 15 Cooper has quickly established himself as the top pitching prospect in Arizona’s 2028 class. At 6'3 with long levers and a loose, whippy arm, the right-hander owns big projection and already shows advanced velocity for his age. His athletic delivery and easy arm action point to even more in the tank as he continues to mature. While he shows two-way ability with power potential at the plate, Cooper's future shines brightest on the mound, where he has the makings of a premier arm in the state.

Sammy Garcia SS / RHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 76 / POS: 22 Sammy has contuinued to show why he is one of the most competitive players in the class, standing out for his instincts, energy and two-way ability. A natural fit up the middle, he shows smooth actions, quick hands and plenty of arm strength to stay on the dirt long term. Offensively, his compact right-handed swing is built for line drive contact with fast hands and confidence in the box. On the mound, Sammy pounds the zone with a lively fastball and mixes in secondary offerings with feel, showing maturity beyond his years. His grit, athleticism and impact on both sides of the ball make him one of the more exciting young prospects in Arizona to keep an eye on.

Peyton Burgess C / RHP / Millennium, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 170 / POS: 15 Peyton stands out as one of the top young catchers in the state, bringing a left-handed bat with real power potential to go along with defensive upside. With his 6'2 athletic frame,  he swings with looseness and lift, driving the ball with authority to all fields. Behind the plate, he shows the makings of a steady defender with arm strength and a developing transfer. His athleticism allows him to handle multiple spots when needed. A promising player with physical tools and a middle of the order profile, Peyton is a name to know in the 2028 class.

Andres Armenta OF / RHP / Casteel, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 145 / POS: 38 Andres continues to prove himself as one of the more dynamic bats in the class, showing advanced bat to ball skills and ability to pepper the ball consistently to all fields. His athleticism translates well in the outfield, where he covers ground and flashes a strong arm. Andres projects as a top of the order type who can change a game with his bat and has proved himself to be a top 10 player in the state.

Chase Fillman OF / LHP / Millennium, AZ / 2028 Chase brings an imposing L/L strong profile with advanced physicality and impact strength at the plate. His swing is simple and smooth yet powerful, allowing him to drive the ball with authority and project as a middle of the order bat. Defensively, he fits at a corner outfield spot and his arm strength gives him added versatility. On the mound, the left-hander has shown mid 80s velocity with a competitive edge, making him a true two-way follow. With size, strength and confident presence, Chase is one of the more impressive power bats in Arizona’s 2028 class and someone to follow closely in the coming years.

Troy Tewers 3B / RHP / Liberty High School, AZ / 2028 Rankings  OverallRank: 152 / POS: 14 Troy is one of the most polished defenders in Arizona’s 2028 class, showing smooth glove work, steady hands and advanced actions at third base. Offensively, his quick, aggressive swing is beginning to show gap power with the potential for more as he matures. On the mound, he offers another layer of value with a clean operation and mid 80s velocity. A steady performer with two-way impact, Troy has the tools and makeup to be a key follow in the class moving forward.

Kingston Sinner OF / SS / Brophy Prep, AZ / 2028 Kingston is one of the more athletic prospects in the class, boasting a 6'2 frame with strength and wiry actions that stand out immediately. In the outfield, his confident footwork and 90 mph arm strength make him a clear defensive asset, while at the plate his tall stance and ability to control the barrel allow him to drive the ball to all fields. Kingston's combination of athleticism, arm strength and offensive upside make him a high ceiling follow in the 2028 class.

Reid Holtorf SS / 2B / Liberty, AZ / 2028 Reid stands out for his athleticism and polish in the middle infield, moving with rhythm, body control and smooth actions that allow him to stay up the middle. At 5'11, he shows quick-twitch traits and a confident glove, giving him steady defensive value. At the plate, the right-handed hitter creates good separation with balance and consistently drives the ball gap to gap, with power likely to tick up as he matures physically.
