Class of 2028: Rankings Update 9/15

As the summer circuit winds down and players shift their focus toward the fall, we’ve released our latest update to the Arizona Class of 2028 Player Rankings. This marks the second revision of the year, highlighted by movement within the Top 30. Strong spring performances carried into the summer, where several prospects elevated their profiles and began to separate themselves as some of the state’s premier rising sophomores.

Our evaluation process remains fluid and ongoing, built on live in game looks, showcase data, and continuous conversations with coaches and scouts to ensure the most accurate read on each player. While some prospects may rise quickly, it doesn’t always signal regression from others; development is a long term process with natural peaks and valleys. With the fall season ahead, new names are sure to emerge and add even more depth to Arizona’s 2028 class. Our local and national scouting staff will continue to work in close collaboration, keeping these rankings as current and reflective as possible.

Ian takes the nuber one spot in our 2028 state rankings. He checks a lot of boxes early with a long, athletic frame and a L/L profile that’s hard to ignore. He moves well in the outfield with fluid actions and plenty of arm strength, while his left-handed swing shows natural lift and emerging power. With his blend of athleticism, versatility, and projection, Ian looks the part of a high-end prospect in Arizona’s 2028 class. |

Cooper has quickly established himself as the top pitching prospect in Arizona’s 2028 class. At 6'3 with long levers and a loose, whippy arm, the right-hander owns big projection and already shows advanced velocity for his age. His athletic delivery and easy arm action point to even more in the tank as he continues to mature. While he shows two-way ability with power potential at the plate, Cooper's future shines brightest on the mound, where he has the makings of a premier arm in the state. |

Sammy has contuinued to show why he is one of the most competitive players in the class, standing out for his instincts, energy and two-way ability. A natural fit up the middle, he shows smooth actions, quick hands and plenty of arm strength to stay on the dirt long term. Offensively, his compact right-handed swing is built for line drive contact with fast hands and confidence in the box. On the mound, Sammy pounds the zone with a lively fastball and mixes in secondary offerings with feel, showing maturity beyond his years. His grit, athleticism and impact on both sides of the ball make him one of the more exciting young prospects in Arizona to keep an eye on. |

Peyton stands out as one of the top young catchers in the state, bringing a left-handed bat with real power potential to go along with defensive upside. With his 6'2 athletic frame, he swings with looseness and lift, driving the ball with authority to all fields.
