British Columbia Fall Invite: Quick Hits

Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, Canada

On Wednesday, September 24th, the Prep Baseball British Columbia staff hosted the British Columbia Fall Invite hosted at McLeod Athletic Park, home of the Langley Blaze, in Langley, British Columbia.

The event featured roughly 31 players within BC's 2026 - 2029 classes and the event allowed players within the province to update their profiles one final time before the baseball season comes to a close.

All players ran through a full workout that included batting practice and bullpens captured on our TrackMan, as well 60-yard times with 10-yard and 30-yard splits via VALD Performance. Over the next several days we'll be highlighting top performers from the event within our post-event analysis. Stay locked into our social media channels over the next several days as we continue to push out video, leaderboards and more.

Earlier this week, we began our post-event coverage within our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive articles. Today, we will conclude our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits article as we break down six standout players with scouting notes and video.

Nico Siegenthaler RHP / 1B / Vancouver College, BC / 2027

Fresh off an outing at the Rogers Centre with the Blue Jays Academy Showcase, the large-framed right-hander posted the top fastball velocity at the event. Standing at 6-foot-5, 255-pounds, Siegenthaler’s fastball sat 85-86mph, topping out at 86.7mph and filling up the zone with the pitch. The secondary stuff includes a curveball at 70-72mph with slurve shape and a changeup at 78-80mph with an average of 18.4 inches of horizontal break. An interesting arm in BC to follow out of the UBC Thunder program over the next year.

Benjamin Dartnell RHP / 1B / Magee Secondary Vancouver BC, BC / 2027

Despite the fastball velocity down a touch from where we’ve seen him, Dartnell flashed a unique arsenal with feel for several secondary pitches, including a recently added splitter that could be a weapon going forward. 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-hander has good direction on the mound and the fastball has more sinker shape, sitting 79-80 T81mph during Wednesday’s bullpen. There was feel for the curveball at 66-68mph with late break, and he also featured a slider at 65-67mph and splitter at 70-71mph, killing the spin on the pitch with sub-1000 rpm spin. Dartnell has stuff that will generate outs and it will be interesting to see where the velocity is in the new year. The UBC Thunder product also swung the bat well with a Sweet Spot% of 71%, Line Drive% of 50% and peak exit velocity of 84.7mph.

Chance Miller OF / RHP / Maple Ridge Secondary, BC / 2027

2027 OF/RHP Chance Miller put together a quality two-way performance at the event with the second best fastball velocity (81.4mph), top outfield velocity (82mph) and third best distance in BP (317ft). Plenty of room for strength to enter Miller’s game over the next two years, standing at 6-foot, 160-pounds and the right-hander sat 78-81mph on the mound with the ability to locate the fastball. The secondary stuff included a curveball at 68-69mph and changeup at 73-75mph that averaged over 20 inches of horizontal break. At the plate, the right-handed hitter from the Whalley Chiefs worked middle-to-pullside and there’s more power to tap into as he continues to fill out, posting a peak exit velocity of 84.7mph and peak distance of 317ft. Plenty to work with here and good overall day for Miller.

Isaiah Forhan RHP / RHP / Handsworth Secondary School, BC / 2027

2027 RHP Isaiah Forhan out of the North Shore Twins program stands out immediately with a big, strong frame at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. It’s a clean arm swing and Forhan tunnels his stuff well, starting with a pair of fastballs in a four-seamer at 79-81mph and sinker at 81mph. The slider plays well with late, tight horizontal break and is utilized at the out pitch. Forhan also featured a cutter at 71-73mph. Looks be more on the way from Forhan and it will be interesting to see where his game is at following a full offseason of development and growth.

Benjamin van den Hoven OF / OF / Maple Ridge Secondary School, BC / 2026

OF Ben Van Den Hoven is an unsigned senior out of the Whalley Chiefs program and his two rounds of BP at the event were unquestionably the loudest. Sheer strength in the box at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds and the right-handed hitter flashed his strength, elevating to the middle and pullside. Van Den Hoven’s peak exit velocity of 95.7mph (85.7mph avg) and peak distance of 357ft (258ft avg) were both tops at the event. The Whalley Chiefs outfielder rounded out his day with a positional velocity of 78mph and 60-yard dash of 7.18. Quality showing from Van Den Hoven who will be a middle of the order bat to follow in the Whalley Chiefs program over the next ten months.

Dawson Clift SS / 2B / North Surrey Secondary School, BC / 2026

Dawson Clift was another unsigned senior to show well as a two-way player, but it was the work on the positional side from the White Rock infielder that caught our staff’s attention. Lean, athletic look at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds and his 60-yard dash of 7.16 was fourth best at the event. Clift had a good approach throughout BP, consistently on-time with a healthy mix of line drives and flyballs to the middle part of the field. Clift’s peak exit velocity of 89.7mph and peak distance of 328ft were both second best at the event. The feet work well up the middle and he was also up to 76mph across the diamond. The Tritons infielder looks primed for a strong season campaign.
