CHICAGO—With some of the country’s top prospects taking center stage at Wrigley Field, it was Mother Nature that eventually won out, as the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game completed seven innings before being called due to severe thunderstorms. The National team won, 5-4, behind OF Heliot Ramos (Leadership Christian Academy, PR). The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, two runs scored and fell a double short of the cycle.

The American squad opened the scoring in the first inning and took a 1-0 lead. After C M.J. Melendez (TBD, FL) drew a walk, OF Cole Turney (Fort Bend Travis HS, TX) drove him home with a hard double to left-center field. Two Nationals reached via a hit by pitch and walk in the second before Ramos collected his first hit—a two-run triple that landed in the right field corner. The scored was tied again at 2-2 in the third when OF Quentin Holmes (Monsignor McClancy HS, NY), advanced to second on a stolen base and then came home on back-to-back flyouts with 1B Alex Toral (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) getting the sacrifice fly and RBI.
