LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2026 RHP’s Julian Rodriguez and Logan Steenburgen of El Dorado HS have been named the California Co-Pitchers of the Week for Week Five of the high school baseball season. 

Rodriguez and Steenburgen combined to throw 11 shutout innings in the Golden Hawks win over Fullerton High School as El Dorado is off to a scorching 10-2 start that includes a six game winnings streak to their season. 

Rodriguez finished with six innings pitched with a pair of strikeouts before handing the ball off to Steenburgen who went five innings with five strikeouts and earned the win. 

Both Rodriguez and Steenburgen have been very strong on the hill for the Golden Hawks throughout the season. For the season, Rodriguez is 3-1 with a save and is sporting a 1.66 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 25 IP. Steenburgen is 3-0 with two saves and a miniscule 0.61 ERA with 25 Ks in 23 IP. 

We salute juniors Julian Rodriguez and Logan Steenburgen, on earning the Prep Baseball California Co-Pitcher’s of the Week.
