Los Angeles, Calif. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes that will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

2025 INF Rashad Hayes of Bishop O’Dowd High School has been named the California Player of the Week for Week Two of the high school baseball season. Hayes, a Stanford commit, had a big offensive week for the Dragons going 5-for-11 with a double, triple, and a home run. Hayes drove in two runs and scored four times in leading the Dragons offense for the week. Through three games of the early season, Hayes is hitting .455 with no strikeouts. He is slashing .500/1.000/1.500 in the early goings of his senior campaign. He also has added a pair of stolen bases with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
