With than in mind Prep Baseball California will continue highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes for college programs to be following throught the spring schedule and into the summer. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the #112 ranked player in the 2026 class in NorCal '26 SS/3B Drew Hamburger from Homestead High School in the Cupertino, Calif..  The RH hitting left side of the INF defender is coming off a Soph. season where he got flashes of experience on the varsity level to show his toolset and be prepared to take a more prominent role in 2025. Over 26 plate appearances with 20 official at bats he posted five hits with two runs batted in while scoring five runs in that span. He posted a .400 OBP in the limited role with a solid 4 BB to 4 K ratio showing a solid feel for his approach at the dish. In addition he showed his versatility by taking the mound for 5.1 IP with five hits allowed, six punchouts, one walk, and a 0.00 ERA in the four appearances. This past fall the rising NorCal product put together a strong showing in front of Hank LoForte and myself at the Prep Baseball California NorCal Uncommited Game in October.

With athletic frame that shows some present strength Hamurger checked in at 6'2 185 lbs. while showing present solid athletic ability in his profile with a 7.08 60 time while posting 1.73 10-yard / 3.95 30-yard splits at his best with a 19.6 MPH max run speed. His athletic ability gives him solid 3 position versatility around the INF. His present arm strength is more solid than strong and one that has room to develop more as he continues to mature, but posted a 83 MPH INF arm velocity that may play presently better at 2B/3B.

His swing showed well during the batting practice and game play portion of the NorCal Uncommitted Game event backing up the flashes of success he showed as a Soph.. It's a compact and direct RH swing that has a simple operation in the box with a small load rearward and a barrel tip with the hands before uncorking a tight quick turn to contact. On Blast Motion the RH hitting Hamburger posted bat speeds up to 72.6 MPH (averaging 68.6 MPH of bat speed). He showed high quality hand speed maxing at 20.6 MPH and averaging 18.4 MPH with a turn that generates up to 18.3 Gs of rotational acceleration with an average of 15.4 Gs. During his batting practice sessions Hamburger demonstrated solid impact in the profile with a consistent feel for his barrel/hard contact. He has posted a top end exit velocity at 91.7 MPH while averaging 88.7 MPH with a personal best presently of 340' on his max distance, a 75% sweet spot rate with a 50% hard hit rate. His swing path and approach showed well in delivering the barrel to the ball with a majority of his hard contact posting a 87% Flyball-Line Drive rate. He appears at present to be best suited for a gap to gap doubles approach, but the flashes of strength in his profile and with continued development to his impact should show future consistent pull-gap to pull-foul line home run power.

With an intriguing offensive profile that has plenty to like about the hit potential and power profile to go with defensive versatility the overall profile for Hamburger is on the rise. College coaches/programs would be well served to keep tabs on the performance of this NorCal uncommitted '26 for their class.
