EMERSON, GA - The 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games were held August 1-2 at LakePoint Sports Complex, bringing together nearly 300 of the top prospects in the 2029 class from across the Deep South. Players representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee competed on state specific teams, providing one of the premier stages of the summer for the region's top young talent.

Today, we take a closer look at the some of the top performers for the Georgia Prospects across 6 different teams from the event this past weekend. ⤵️ 

Southeast Super Sophomore Games-Team Georgia Quick Hits

Nolan Porch, LHP/OF, 2029, North Cobb Christian
Porch has made significant strides in his game and it showed these past couple of months with another excellent look to cap off the summer. Significant projection in the lean, high-waisted 6-foot-2, 151-pounds. Showed well on the mound as he tossed a pair of clean innings. Loose, athletic delivery with ability to repeat well from a compact arm action while attacking in-the-zone with all three. Fastball creates arm-side life with in-zone misses at 83-85 with more velo to come. Changeup tunneled extremely well off the heater at 73-75 with fading action. Spun over a slider at times at 72-75 with budding feel to spin and some depth. Actions in the outfield stand out with present foot speed (6.73 60-yd) and good routes to the ball that allow for quality tracking in all directions. At the plate, stays well-connected with balance through the longer load with ability to create some pull-side leverage. Produced a max exit velocity of 89.1 during batting practice. Porch brings above-average tools and will likely have a chance to make a key impact next spring for one of powerhouses in the Private Classification.

Clay Phillips, LHP/1B, 2029, Citizens Christian Academy
Arguably one of the biggest winners of the event as Phillips performed at a high-level on both sides throughout. Put a stamp on the weekend with a dominant outing on the mound. Clean, repeatable delivery with present arm speed from a three-quarter slot and plenty more to tap into in the high-waisted 5-foot-11, 178-pound frame. Advanced pitchability shined with an attacking demeanor and feel for the full mix while attacking in-zone across all quadrants. Fastball creates heavy arm-side run with life at 84-86 (T87 MPH). Curveball shows shorter action with late-depth and advanced feel to spot at the lower half for freezes at 71-74. Sparingly used a changeup that showed depth out of the same tunnel and induced whiffs when used at 73-74. Phillips would put together a multi-hit game to round out the week as well. Utilizes a quick toe-tap load and hands work through the zone in an on-plane path while displaying an aptitude to use the entire field well. Phillips looks like the next big piece to come out of CCA with present two-way tools and a breakout ‘27 appears to be looming.

Charlie Crews, 1B, 2029, Lowndes
It was barrels in seemingly each at-bat with 3-hits across the weekend for Crews. Loud round of batting practice where he posted a max 96.4 and an average 86.4 exit velocities along with a 380ft. max distance that translated into gameplay. Present strength throughout the physical 6-foot-2, 186-pounds with impact in the barrel and well-connected LH cut. Controlled hands stand out in a simple trigger while keeping his hands inside with excellent length in-zone. Head stays quiet through impact and transfers weight well with minimal wasted effort throughout. Ground-force strength with fast hands and delivers an accurate barrel in a pull-side heavy approach. Quality footwork and budding arm strength should keep Crews at 1B long-term. Chance to develop into a high-floor hit/power combo and should get in the mix next spring for Lowndes.

Sam Wasson, SS/OF, 2029, Pinewood Christian
We were able to see Wasson as an Eighth Grader while starting in center-field during the State Championship. Fast forward to this past weekend where he looked the part and boasts one of the more intriguing all-around profiles amongst his peers. Athleticism and raw strength standout in the physical 5-foot-10, 194-pound frame. Produced heavy pull-side barrels in a loud round of batting practice. Finished the round with a max 99.5 and an average 91.3 exit velocities along with a max distance of 338ft. Wasson also clocked in at a 7.13 60-yd. Picked up a pair of knocks during gameplay including a backside triple and a single. Creates good separation with present hand and wrist strength while working from the ground-up. Compact, physical RH cut with a heavy barrel and real impact out front. Utilizes a quick, balanced trigger with adjustability and feel for the zone while showing an aptitude to work line-to-line. Versatile athlete with good range and instincts alike that should allow him to profile across the grass or even in the dirt some. Wasson is armed with the gritty South Georgia gamer mentality and tools to match as he looks the part of a 5-year impact starter down at Pinewood.

Chance Hopper, OF, 2029, Pepperell
We knew the name coming into summer after Hopper had one of the top freshman season in the state at Pepperell. We finally got a chance to see him late summer and glad we did. The swing from the left side is hard to miss with easy athleticism and gamer qualities that standout immediately. Fast forward to this weekend and he starts off the day with a 6.79 60 while throwing 86 from the outfield and posting a max EV of 90.2. We get into game play and he nearly goes backside for a bomb then on day 2 he goes pullside double and gets 3rd on some heads up base running. Needless to say we will be at Pepperell a lot this spring as he adds strength Hopper has the chance to be one of the best pure hitters in this class.

Gus Cummings, OF/RHP, 2029, John Milledge
Cummings had a strong summer and it was great to get a look at him in this setting. There is obvious athleticism running a 6.94 and 25in vertical jump proved that. The swing is clean and consistent at the plate with a compact turn and strong barrel. On the mound he ran the fastball up to 84 with a whippy arm action. He really gets into the lower half and is going to stack mph quickly with the clean delivery and long lower half.



Tipton Roop, 1B, 2029, Morgan County
Roop put together one of of the better BP rounds of the workout day, posting a 97.5 max EV and 91.3 Avg. EV and max distance of 374ft. He has made some big strides since we last saw and is going to be a high follow headed into the spring with a chance to be the ace for Morgan County. On the mound he has a quick paced delivery with more in the tank. High ¾ slot that filled up the zone with 3 pitches. The fastball is low 80’s right now, but is going to continue to climb with time.



Sawyer Ferguson, C, 2029, Allatoona
Ferguson put together a strong summer and capped it off with a stellar performance at Super Sophomore Games. He posted a 1.94 with quick, twitchy actions and ran a 7.07 60-yard dash. When you talk about spark plug type players, Ferguson is the first thing to come to mind. He plays hard and is a work house behind the dish. He nearly went pull side bomb in game play with sneaky juice and feel for the barrel.

Hatcher Chandler, OF, 2029, Allatoona
A stellar spring campaign translated over into an excellent summer circuit with a strong performance at SESSG. Lean 6-foot-0, 165-pounds with strength to project and top of the order profile. Feel to hit stands out as he picked up multiple knocks during the weekend while using the entire field. Utilizes a controlled toe-tap trigger and hands work really well with fluidity through the zone in a flat path. Barrel accuracy and feel to move the barrel around in a flat path with ability to handle both velo or spin. Head stays quiet through impact with excellent zone awareness and works short-to-long while displaying high-level bat-to-ball skills. Athletic in the grass and would make a ridiculous diving play in right-field during the final game. Arm strength is present and could be a carrying tool with a chance to profile in either corner. Chandler looks like he is going to hit for a very long time with plenty of tools to project for a high-floor profile long-term.

Andrew Wallace, RHP/OF, 2029, Calvary Day
Yet another setting this summer where Wallace showed well. Athletic 5-foot-7, 145-pounds with gamer traits and ultra-competitor. Looked the part on the mound and attacked in-the-zone while mixing well and pitched to contact. Pitchability stood out as he tossed a scoreless 3.0 innings-pitched. Good mover down the slope and longer operation with present arm speed from a repeatable three-quarters slot. Excellent command of the fastball throughout the zone at 83-85. Slider creates depth for freezes and soft contact at 71-74. Mixes in a fading changeup to LHH at 72-75 to round out the arsenal. Would also produce quality at-bats throughout gameplay with a base knock in game 1. Stays coiled well and lets the hands work well in an on-plane path through the zone. Gap-to-gap approach is present and feel to adjust in-zone with strong pitch recognition to match. Vocal leader and positional flexibility across the diamond as well. Wallace got his feet wet at the varsity level as a freshman this past spring and looks poised to build off it with a larger role in store for ‘27.

Carter Smith, RHP/3B, 2029, Harlem
One of the breakout winners of the event, Smith would show extremely well on both sides of the ball during gameplay. Physical 6-foot-0, 209-pounds with present two-way tools. Put together one of the more dominant outings across the event as he struck out 7 across 3.0 IP with swing-and-miss across the entire mix. Including tossing an immaculate inning in his second inning of work. Mound presence and attacking demeanor stand out as he owns the zone with the entire arsenal. Stout lower half and gets downhill well with ability to repeat the delivery. Fastball shows arm-side run through the zone with feel to land to either half of the plate at 81-83. Advanced feel for the curveball at 70-72 that induced plenty of whiffs with two-plane depth and ability to add or subtract horizontal movement. Changeup was used sparingly but showed R/R feel with late-depth and tunnels out of the same slot at 79. Took mature at-bats in each look including a backside ground-rule double in game one as well. Ground-force strength and maintains balance in a positive move forward while showing present above-average bat speed with strong hands through the zone. Aptitude to use the entire field with zone awareness to match. Smith should fully be in the mix next spring with the Bulldogs and brings the type of winning mentality that will carry a clubhouse on a nightly basis.

Caleb Pearson, OF, 2029, McIntosh
Pearson took little time to make an impression as the bat was ringing during BP. A quick toe tap load leads to a fluid, smooth swing from the left side that was consistently repeated. Being able to reproduce a powerful stroke shows early maturity and will give way to more development. The weight stays back and the stride short, keeping the barrel ITZ for a while, giving way to 6+ 92+ EVs, 70+ bat speed, and a handful of long balls. The swing transferred well in game play with good ABs and a really well struck 1B to the PS and scored from 1st on a 2B. The play in the field is good with effective routes and a quick transfer to his cutoff man. The power ability is attractive and with maturity, the hit tool should not be far behind.

Gus Federico, 1B/LHP, 2029, Holy Innocents
It was a two-way showing of good feel on the first day of action for Federico. His round of BP was simple but effective as he sprayed balls on a line all over with seeming ease. He gets the foot down a bit early but maintains the weight and energy to provide for some pop from a slightly uppercut hack. He was consistently on the barrel and had a nice sweet spot percentage. When gameplay came during the evening slot, he was given a lengthy chance on the hill and in the box. He went 4 IP and showed great grit and a gamer mentality as he hunkered down after a long day, sitting upper 70s/low 80s with the FB and used a CH/SL combo to high efficiency, collecting multiple weak batted balls and a handful of Ks (looking and swinging). The ABs didn’t result in hits, but the look was a mirror to his BP round and comfortable.

RJ Westbrook, LHP/OF, 2029, Mount Paran
The 6’4” 186 lb lefty put together a very impressive showing this weekend at the Super Sophomore games. He started off the showcase with an impressive BP round, launching several homers with an exit velo up to 93.5 mph and a max distance of 340’. He carried that success over to the games where he made lots of loud contact including a double and a triple. He is very athletic and aggressive in the box with an upright stance and a toe-tap timer. He swings direct to the ball and generates great bat speed with a whippy upper half. His approach is consistent, and he showed an affinity for driving the ball to the opposite field all weekend. In the field, he went up and over the wall to rob a would-be home run. On the mound, Westbrook struck out 5 batters in 2 IP with a FB that sat 83-85 with a cut from a very low arm slot. With a release height of just 4.3 ft, he also featured a SL 74-75 mph with up to 20” of horizontal break. He also showed a CH that ranged from 72-79 mph. He kept hitters uncomfortable and racked up whiffs with his excellent supination. Overall it was a great showing, and Westbrook should only continue to improve and has all the tools to do so.

Brogen Stephens, LHP/OF, 2029, Lowndes
Stephens had a great showing on both sides of the ball in the Super Sophomore games this weekend. At 5’8” and 172 lbs, he features a stout, muscular frame and uses every bit of it with explosive actions. In the box, Stephens is balanced with a wide base and a very compact load. He gets on plane early, and swings hard with smooth, repeatable actions. In his final at bat of the weekend, he crushed a home run on a line over the right field fence that got out in a hurry. On the bump, Stephens flashed great strikeout stuff with a FB/SL/CH combo. The FB sat 81-83, the SL 67-69, and the CH dropped in at 73-74 mph. He carried a bulldog mentality on the mound and came straight after hitters with the FB and racked up whiffs on the SL. The CH was particularly effective against RHH. He created deceptive movement on his pitches from a lower arm slot. To top it all off, he showcased his athleticism in the outfield with a diving catch on a sinking liner and quick popup to throw out a runner tagging from 2B to 3B. Stephens will be an exciting name to watch as he enters his sophomore year at Lowndes.

Hudson Pursell, RHP/OF, 2029, Wesleyan
Pursell had a great weekend for the Georgia Orange team this weekend at the Super Sophomore games. At the plate, Pursell is quiet in the box with a controlled swing that looks to do damage. He gets an early barrel pivot and stays on plane long through the zone allowing him to do damage to all fields. With a good inside-out approach, he smashed two triples to RCF as the best offensive contributor on his squad. He is a fun watch in the box as his actions are simple and fluid. On the mound, Pursell threw a devastating FB/CB/CH mix that tore hitters apart and looked downright unhittable. The FB sat 86-88 and topped out at 89.2 mph. At 2400 RPM, the spin differential between that and his 1400 RPM CH at 78 mph was extremely effective. The CB has some serious vertical break and was landed for strikes and whiffs alike at 76-77 mph. He filled up the zone with a 3/4 arm slot and created great hand separation during his descent down the mound. At 6’3” and 172 lbs, there is plenty of room for physical growth to fill out his frame and improve his extension towards the plate to become even more dangerous on the mound. As just a sophomore this year, there is so much development ahead of Pursell, and he will be one of the best names to watch not only in Georgia, but across the entire country.



Manny Munoz, RHP/3B, 2029, Kings Ridge
The 5’9” 169 lb infielder put together a great weekend at the Super Sophomore games with tools that played above his slightly smaller frame. He started off the weekend with a good BP round, spraying balls to all parts of the yard with great feel for the barrel. His best hit of the weekend was a double that he barreled up to RCF on a high fastball. He features a simple leg kick with a very compact swing action. He keeps the hands inside and does a great job staying level through the baseball. Munoz generates good power from a strong back leg. On the mound, Munoz was effective with a slow mound descent yet fast arm action from a 3/4 slot. He threw a heavy FB at 80-82 mph and topped at 83. He also featured a CB at 69-73 and a CH at 75-77. He separates the hands well and tucks the front side early to stay closed through his delivery. Overall, Munoz had a great showing and will be a fun watch this fall.

Grayson Parker, 3B/1B, 2029, Central
Parker had just about the best possible end to his summer season at the Super Sophomores games. In his final at-bat of the summer, he crushed a home run to right field to ice the game. He stands wide and loads deep with an aggressive hack that extends long through the zone. He has a slight upward tilt that is built to do damage, and he gets into an ideal launch position at contact. He uses a strong bottom hand to stay on plane all the way. Parker times up the pitcher with a toe tap and balls jump off the bat due to his explosive bat speed. As he matures and fills out his 6’0” 162 lb frame, he will become an even more dangerous hitter, and could become one of the premier sluggers in the region. Parker will be an important name to watch over the coming year.

Xavier Rodriguez, C/1B, 2029, Archer
Rodriguez capped off a terrific summer with another eye-catching showing at the 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games in both showcase and gameplay settings. Defensively, Rodriguez posted an event-low pop-time of 1.78 and tied for the top C velo at 81. During BP, Rodriguez showed a continuously advancing feel to switch-hit. Efficient path and innate feel for the impactful barrel from both sides, with greater ability to lift as a RHH and a LD approach as a LHH. Posted a max distance of 375 and a max EV of 103.5, which was 2nd best at the event. In a gameplay setting, Rodriguez continued to live on the barrel from both sides. As a RHH, hammered a 2B off the base of the LF wall, just missing a HR, and in game 2, lined an RBI 1B back UTM as a LHH. Exciting summer from Xavier Rodriguez, impressing in each look and continuing to raise both floor and ceiling throughout the summer.

Zeke Dotson, RHP/C, 2029, Dawson County
Dotson impressed in all facets, behind the plate, in the box, and on the mound at the 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games. Defensively, Dotson sat amongst the top of metric leaderboards, posting the 2nd-highest C velo (79) and 5th-best pop time (1.86). Offensively, Dotson put on another high-level showing, highlighted by a max EV of 99.5 and a max distance of 391ft, which was the 3rd farthest at the event. The switch hitter lived on the barrel during BP, featuring advanced bat speed from both sides. On the mound, Dotson’s arsenal included 2 distinct FB shapes and a CB. The primary FB sat 83-86 and topped at 87.7. The secondary FB had a sinker shape and sat 81-83. The CB sat 75-77 and featured a 12-6 shape. Dotson maximizes the levers of the 6-foot-2 frame to deliver from an over-the-top slot at a 6-foot-4 release height. Overall intriguing look at the two-way player with clear upside. Will be an exciting name to follow come spring.

Luke Goudie, RHP/3B, 2029, Harris County
Goudie filled up the zone in Game 2 of the Southeast Super Sophomore Games. Featured a 3-pitch mix of FB, CH, and SL. The FB generates plenty of carry, reaching a max IVB of 20. The offering sat 83-86. Goudie used the CH sparingly, but killed the spin off the pitch, generating an avg of 1217 rpm. The SL is the highlight of the arsenal, fooling hitters to generate plenty of IZM and chase. The pitch sat 68-71 and had a max 22.5in of horizontal movement. Defensively, Goudie posted a top IF velo of 86, showed plenty of twitch and comfort around the baseball, with the ability to throw from different slots. The hit tool has stood out all year and during BP, posted a max EV of 96 with some juice to the pull side. Luke Goudie is a definite name to know headed into the spring at Harris County.

Rylan Long, C/OF, 2029, Mount Paran
Long showed an advanced approach in the box during the 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound backstop lived on the barrel during both BP and gameplay. Long posted a max EV of 96.9 and an avg. EV of 91.8. The hands fly through the zone and show some present pull-side power with a whole-field approach. In gameplay, Long showed off the approach, collecting a base hit into RCF. Defensively, posted a 1.82 pop time, good for 2nd best at the event. Efficient footwork and quick transfer translated into gameplay, throwing out a runner attempting to steal 2B. Present athleticism translated to the mound as well, where Long would feature a 3-pitch mix and top 84.6 on the FB. Overall, really exciting showing for one of the top backstops in the country, and a definite high floor/high ceiling follow.

Riley Shumpert, 2029, OF, 2029, Mount Paran
Shumpert possesses an ultra-projectable 6-foot-1, 164-pound frame, with long levers and room to add. An already athletic mover within the frame, Shumpert posted a 6.96 60-yd dash, with a 3.88 30-yd split. Moves with fluidity in the outfield with a very efficient transfer and a whippy arm, allowing Shumpert to get the ball out quickly. Recorded an OF velo of 86 and showed a consistently firm delivery of the baseball. During BP, Shumpert showed lightning-quick hands at an average of 23.6mph, posting a max EV of 92. The smooth LH swing showed more pop to the pull-side, but a clear gap-to-gap approach. Really exciting showing from Shumpert, who looks to be an intriguing follow as the frame matures.

Bradford Smith, OF, 2029, Wesleyan
Smith consistently impressed at the plate throughout the event, both during BP and game play. The right-handed hitting outfielder shows an explosive, compact swing and consistently found loud contact, highlighted by an opposite field triple he hit Saturday night. Smith keeps the barrel through the zone with quick hands, showing power to all parts of the field and an ability to get to any pitch. With a projectable 5-foot-10 165-pound frame, Smith has plenty of room to continue to add power to his game. Expect Smith to continue to impress throughout his career at Wesleyan, and carry this momentum into an important Sophomore summer.

Kaiden Harvey, RHP/SS, 2029, Houston County
Harvey had a very impressive weekend from BP to the mound in the game. The 6-foot-1, 181 pounds Harvey has a very quick balanced trigger with fast hands and good barrel feel as his barrel head stays through the zone for a + amount of time. On the mound Harvey had 4 strikeouts in 2 scoreless innings in a dominant short outing where his fastball sat anywhere from 84-86 topping 87 w ASR, curveball sat between 70-72 with good 12-6 depth, slider sat around 74-75 with a sharp break and good control, change up was also solid where its sat 75-76 with fade and feel for it against righties. Be on the lookout for Houston County's Kaiden Harvey this season as he looks to continue to impress.

Brock Simpson, C/OF/RHP, 2029, Irwin County
Simpson had a great outing at the Super Sophomore Games showing off lots of different tools all over the diamond. At 5-foot-9, 179 pounds Simpson has a balanced kit and in the box with an effective backside-hip rotation and stretch with his hands. In game Simpson stayed level and found some simple barrels and had a max EV of 97 on the weekend. He’s Fluid on the mound as well as his swing and worked a 84 to 86 fastball and attacked hitters early. He mixed a 74 to 76 Slider that tunneled well. Simpson is a position player primarily and looked comfortable behind the dish and moved with fast feet in the OF. This season Simpson will be forced to reckon with at Irwin County.

Malachi Owens, 3B/C, 2029, Maynard Jackson
Malachi Owens was a strong look at 5-foot-10, 148-pound frame and athletic traits across the board. He worked a deep count and showed adjustability in the hands as he matched plane and fired a sharp single back into center field. The swing stayed simple and under control with bat-to-ball skills and Owens stayed within himself in the box and used a direct path to keep the barrel through the zone and drove the baseball for multiple barrels on the weekend. His numbers back up the offensive feel with a 92.7 max exit velocity, 86.7 average exit velocity, and 75% sweet spot rate. With an athletic 6.87 60 yard dash and great moves in the field, Owens should be a clear watch in this next season.

Maddox Griffeth, MIF, 2029, Creekview
Maddox Griffeth put together a quality offensive showing with a 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame Griffeth has a high motor in the box. He battled through long at-bats and continued to get his barrel on time. Griffeth collected multiple hits, including a line drive through the middle and a hard RBI double off the right-field wall. His swing worked with early rhythm and simple moves. The backside stretch gave him time to stay inside the baseball and create firm contact. He looked comfortable in the infield and making plays was routine for him. With steady bat-to-ball skills and a feel for the barrel, Griffeth has the tools to keep trending as a 2029 infielder.
