October 8, 2019
This past weekend showed to be a great turnout for the first ever PBR Fall Upperclass World Series. The event at LakePoint in Emerson, GA took place October 4 - October 6. Take a look at some of the standouts from the four teams that made it to the semi-final round on Sunday.
Slammers Embry
-Slammers showed physical tools across the board. Impressed with style of play throughout the weekend. After going 3-0 in pool play, Slammers beat a talented Team Elite Silver in the opening round of bracket play. They fell short to Southern Squeeze in the semi-finals.
Colby Shade, OF, Fort Collins HS (CO), 2020
Oregon recruit, currently ranked No. 237 nationally in the 2020 class. Athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with proportional strength. Quick-twitch tendencies, moves with fluidity on the bases and in center field. Offensively, generates bat speed with his hands, looks to get his swing off but doesn’t chase out of the zone. Calm, relaxed approach, strong at contact, ball jumps off the barrel. Doesn’t get cheated in the box.

2020 SS/RHP Carson Sorrell (Tupelo HS, @PBR_Mississippi) has been swinging all tournament long for @SouthernSqueeze. Here, he doubles. Earlier launched a triple. Thin, twitchy athlete who also hopped on mound & was 85-87. @PBRGeorgia #FallUpperclassWS pic.twitter.com/mgs2EbrWPh
Sox Baseball
After a dominant performance in pool play, which only allowed 4 runs, Sox Baseball carried their winning ways to Sunday. They took down Allatoona in walk-off fashion in extra innings. They would go on to lose a nail-biter in the semi-final game to Team Elite Black.
Chandler Tillman, RHP, Whitewater (GA), 2020
5-foot-11 155-pounds. Has been consistent on the mound every weekend this fall. Tillman is a huge competitor that can be trusted to throw strikes every time out. He can put his FB where he wants, and has the pitchability to throw his off-speed off of his fastball in the same tunnel. FB has been up to 86 this fall. Was 82-83 in his final inning of his 7 inning shutout, 1 hit performance. Has a 3 pitch mix, and can throw them all from strikes. Throws the CB with conviction in any count. An uncommitted 2020 that could be a huge asset to any colleges rotation or bullpen. Rare to see the consistency that he has shown for 3 weekends in a row. Currently ranked No. 42 for RHP’s in the 2020 class of Georgia.
Jack Seppings, RHP, Landmark Christian (GA), 2020Uncommitted 2020 RHP Chandler Tillman (Sox Baseball; @WHSWildcatbsbal) continues to impress on the mound. Struck out the side to take him into the 7th w/ a 1 hit shutout. Strike machine and can flip the CB at any time. FB in the low 80’s. @PBR_Uncommitted #FallUpperclassWS pic.twitter.com/XlCXRrRO7F

6-foot-1 160-pounds. Another solid arm for Sox Baseball. Arm works well, flashing an 87 on the final day of the tournament. FB was 84-86 with effective movement. Comes across body slightly which created deception for the hitter. Has a firm SL at 76-77 that he uses for an out pitch. Has the ability to pitch in to open up the zone, and attack with the fastball. Quick arm that has more velocity left to produce.
Jacob Howell, RHP, East Coweta (GA), 2020Uncommitted 2020 RHP Jack Seppings (Sox Baseball; Landmark Christian) has an easy arm action that is up to 87. FB 84-86, with good life. Firm SL at 76-77. @PBR_Uncommitted #FallupperclassWS pic.twitter.com/BGdxrh6euH
— PBR Georgia (@PBRGeorgia) October 6, 2019
6-foot-4 185-pounds. Big, physical frame with a nice and easy motion. Low effort that produces strikes, and forces contact. FB worked up to 82, sat 79-81 most of the game against a tough lineup. He worked down in the zone, and made hitters swing the bat. CB was 70-73, and could flip it for strikes early and late in the count. There is definitely untapped strength in the 6-4 frame. Clean mechanics with a good arm path that can produce higher velo numbers.
Uncommitted 2020 RHP Jacob Howell (Sox Baseball; @ECBaseball14) is an imposing 6’4 frame. Nice and easy motion w/ a good arm path. FB 80-82, CB 70-73. Commanding both pitches for strikes. Keeping the ball down in the zone. @PBR_Uncommitted #FallupperclassWS pic.twitter.com/ZVrga3jwv5

New Orleans commit. Matured body at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds. Up and down delivery, utilizes body strength well. Gets decent extension on all pitches. Fastball showed heavy life, living 85-87, touching 89. More impressive outings we have seen from Rich. Curve ball had good shape at 1/7; 72 mph.
Keegan Rich (2020; @ECBaseball14) sat 85-87, touching 89 in the semi-final game for Sox Baseball. The big-bodied #NewOrleans recruit paired a heavy FB with a 72 mph 1/7 breaking ball. #FallUpperclassWS @keeganrich19 pic.twitter.com/ig0Z93sEaE

Team Elite Black
Team Elite Black showed why they are one of the top squads in the country. After only allowing 3 runs in pool play, Team Elite Black showed the ability to come from behind in the semi-finals to beat Sox Baseball. In the Championship Game, they cruised to victory, remaining as the Champions of the 2019 Fall Upperclass World Series.
Jordan Walker, 3B, Decatur HS (GA), 2020
Duke recruit, one of the top draft prospects in the 2020 class, currently ranked No. 1 in Georgia, No. 33 overall. Physical specimen, stands 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, lean, athletic build with proportional strength and plenty of room for continued physical development. Showed up shortly before Team Elite’s second game of the day and proceeded to make his presence known in each of his three at-bats. First, he roped a double to right center field, and followed it with a line-drive single to left field. Then he topped it off with a laser home run, 105-mph off the bat, that cleared the left field wall in a nanosecond. Quick-twitch athlete, generates plus bat speed with little effort; for his size and length, he stays connected. Present power with more projection in the future.

High-level defensive backstop. Possesses extremely soft hands, athletic feet and flexible hips; blocks well. Sticks pitches, steals strikes; overall framing abilities are advanced. Arm is strong and accurate with finish through the bag, consistent 1.95.2.10 pop times. Offensively, has a compact, balanced swing; generates easy bat speed and is strong at contact. Carved for Team Elite Black in his start, pounding the strike zone with his 88-90 fastball. Pitched at 87-89 in the third inning. Effectively mixed three pitches. Arkansas-Little Rock recruit. 6-foot, 165-pound left-handed pitcher, thin frame with room for continued physical development. Threw one inning for Team Elite Black in relief and impressed. Possesses an extremely quick, athletic arm coming out of a high-3/4 slot. Fastball sat 85-87 with some arm-side life - more velocity in the tank. Struggled to land the breaking ball, but it showed flashes of being a banger. It’s tight with sharp late downer action at 71-73 mph. Showed potential of being a plus pitch in the future.
