The Rock 14U Summer Championship: Takeaways


Scouting Staff

This past weekend, we continued our tournament circuit with the Rock Summer Championships 14U. This event was host to over 40 teams, with 29 of them hailing from the 14U division. Today, we wanted to take the time to highlight some of the 14U players that stood out to our staff, with a couple high-level 2030 grads mixed in as well. 

AHQ 2029 - Deshazer

3B/RHP Israel Atkins (Hampshire, 2029)
Atkins showed an intriguing two-way profile this past weekend, highlighted by an athletic, long-levered frame, with remaining projection both at the plate and on the mound. A middle-of-the-order presence for his AHQ squad, Atkins presented a simple, line-drive approach throughout the weekend, showing some selfless intelligence in multiple high-leverage at-bats. On the mound, the right-handed arm would show some quality pitchability during his Friday start in which he threw 5.2 innings of work, allowing no earned runs, two hits, and collecting nine strikeouts. Working from a whippy 3/4 arm-action, the right-handed arm would sport a quality two-pitch mix, including a 73-75 mph fastball that showed cutting action and an upper-60s slider with sharp break & tight spin, both of which generated swing-and-miss for the young arm. Entering high school this fall, Atkins is just 13 years old at this point in the summer and should be a name to follow. 

LHP/OF Mitchell Aukes  (Marengo, 2029)
Presenting an athletic frame with remaining projection, Aukes would make a dominant appearance on the mound Friday, throwing five innings while only allowing two earned runs and one walk. His fastball would sit 69-71 mph and was complemented with a 61-63 mph curveball. On the mound, he is loose, relaxed, and lands in-line with rhythm. As a position player and left-handed bat, Aukes would take quality, intelligent at-bats throughout the weekend with a line drive approach and obvious poise in the box. At the plate, would finish the weekend 3-for-7, with a triple, two RBIs, two runs scored, and three walks.  

C/UTL Josiah Sykes (Nazareth, 2029)
Displaying a strong, athletic, and projectable frame, Sykes is a name to follow in the emerging Illinois 2029 class. He has strong hands with a minimal stride and present quick bat speed. Defensively, Sykes would also show some intriguing versatility with fringy actions at shortstop and in the outfield. Behind the plate, the backstop showed soft hands and an athletic defensive profile at the catching position. 

SS Joel Uriostegui Jr (Schaumburg, 2029)
A defensive asset at shortstop for his AHQ squad, Uriostegui showed confident, athletic defensive actions throughout the weekend, with above-average footwork and soft hands. At the plate, the right-handed bat would find success thanks to a simple line drive approach, finishing the weekend 3-for-8 with two doubles, three RBIs, one walk, and one run scored. 

OF Jack Wieczorek (Jacobs, 2029)
Presenting an imposing 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame, Wieczorek demonstrated game-changing strength, making him a name to watch in Illinois' 2029 class. The left-handed bat had an aggressive approach throughout the weekend with obvious loft-based intent in his at-bats. In setup, the rising freshman presents an athletic base, utilizing a short stride to get into a position of launch with his strong hands and uphill bat path. Wieczorek moves well for his size, with some athleticism to potentially dream on. 

AI9 Baseball Scout

RHP/3B Michael Sisto (Brother Rice, 2029)
High-waisted 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame that showed projectability. Sisto had a quality showing on both sides of the ball. The right-hander started on the mound on Thursday, tossing a seven-inning complete game with only three earned runs allowed. He operated out of a controlled, up-tempo delivery, working in line with the plate, with a higher ¾ arm slot. He was able to keep hitters off-balance with his two-pitch mix, inducing weak contact. His fastball played heavy and sat 75-77 mph for most of the game, also going to a 12/6 curveball at 64-66 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed quick, loose hands that worked into a flatter path. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a hard-hit ball back up the middle for a single. The righty also went 2-for-3 with a single and triple Saturday morning, showing his athleticism around the bases, along with his easy swing with quick loose hands, able to drive the ball around the field. 

2B Benson Winthrop (Downers Grove North, 2029)
Wiry 5-foot-7, 140 pound frame. Winthrop had a strong day at the plate in Thursday's 10-7 win. The right-hander showed quality bat-to-ball skills, going 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and a walk. At the plate, he demonstrated the ability to control the barrel, and showcased a gap-to-gap approach. He lined a single to right field in his first at-bat, and lined a single to left in his third at-bat.

Athletes HQ

RHP Lawson Madej (Central, 2029)
Madej has a high waist and athletic 5-foot-11, 140-pound frame with more room for growth. Across four innings he recorded four strikeouts. On the mound he was a clean delivery and arm action. The fastball sat 77-79 mph and topped out at 80 mph, also paired with a 65-67 mph curveball. 

C/OF/RHP Beckett Cuchna (St Charles North, 2029) 
Presenting an athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with a high waist and developing strength, Cuchna emerged as a name to follow in Illinois’ 2029 class. The left-handed bat showed above-average feel for the barrel throughout the weekend with an aggressive approach, a developing power tool, and pull side tendencies. Would finish the weekend 3-for-8 with a double, three RBIs, three runs scored, and three walks. Defensively, Cuchna showed aptitude for both catcher and right field with an above-average arm that played well at both positions. Behind the plate he showed quality catch and throws traits, with evident acumen for the position. In right field, Cuchna’s above-average arm would play up, allowing him to profile as an above average defensive presence when paired with his present athleticism. He would also make an appearance on the mound, showing a fastball in the 75-76 mph range.

INF/C Lucas Huyser (St Charles East, 2029)
Huyser has a high waisted athletic build standing at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with room to grow. A name to look out for in the 2029 class, Huyser has quick hands and a whole-field approach. Driving the baseball to all areas of the field on his two hit day. He tripled down the opposite field line and doubled to the pull-side gap Thursday afternoon. Defensively Huyser has an athletic look with soft hands and an arm to pair. 

RHP Trenton Nichols  (South Elgin, 2029)
Nichols, 6-foot-1, 135-pounds, has an athletic looking frame with long limbs and room to grow. On the mound Nichols could be one to watch out for in the future. He has a smooth and fluid delivery with a balanced finish. Nichols had a feel for his offspeed as well with the ability to locate his curveball consistently. FB topped out at 77 mph with a firm 70 mph curveball to pair. He finished the day with five strikeouts through five innings pitched. He looked strong at the plate as well, barrelling a baseball for a pull side single. 

Cedar Rapids Reds 

RHP/INF Cooper Sweeney (Assumption, 2029)
Sweeney led the charge for the Cedar Rapids Reds- Red offense against PTA Cardinal, collecting two extra-base hits in the contest, one of which was a double that drove in two runs, and the second of which was a grand slam to center field. Showed advanced movements at third base with soft hands and a strong arm to pair. 

CRB 2029

1B Julian Ochoa (Jones College Prep, 2029) 
Julian Ochoa had an impressive day at the plate for CRB 2029. Ochoa collected multiple hits and one RBI. His biggest hit came in the sixth inning on a double down the left field line that drove in a run. In the box, he is relaxed and loose with soft hands and displays a rhythmic operation. 

Forceout Baseball 14U-Jaramillo

1B Arttavius Bradford (Oak Creek, 2028)
After being one of the most impactful offensive performers during the PBT Youth World Series at the Rock, Bradford continued to perform in front of our staff. The Oak Creek rising sophomore would showcase a developing power tool that has the makings of a future plus trait thanks to a loft-based approach, loose hands, and evident strength throughout his present frame. Would finish the weekend 3-for-9 with a double, five RBIs, and a run scored. A name to follow in the Wisconsin 2028 class.

3B Cruz Jaramillo (Union Grove, 2030)
Playing up an age group, Jaramillo would continue to perform in front of our staff this past weekend, acting as a middle-of-the-order presence. Working from an athletic, balanced base, the rising eighth grader would provide polished at-bats through the weekend with an aggressive, line-drive seeking approach. Offensively, would finish the weekend an impressive 6-for-6, with an RBI, four runs scored, and four walks. Defensively, Jaramillo would spend his weekend getting a majority of his reps at the hot corner and would show above-average footwork and developing hands. With big league bloodlines and a mature polish to his present toolset, Jaramillo is a must-know name in Wisconsin’s 2030 class. 

SS/RHP Donald Krause III (Milwaukee School of Languages, 2029)
A name that emerged as a must-follow after the PBT Youth World Series at the Rock, Krause would continue to make a major impact for his Forceout squad. A wiry 5-foot-8, 135-pound frame, the rising freshman showed dynamic athleticism both at the plate and on the dirt. The right-handed bat showed an all-fields, line-drive approach with a direct bat path and above-average control of his wrists that allowed his present strength to play up. Defensively, the shortstop would continue to show above-average footwork, hands, range, and instincts, stealing multiple hits throughout the weekend. Krause would also make a few different appearances on the mound and would work from a low 3/4s arm slot with a fastball that at its best would top 80 mph, but mainly profiled in the mid-70s. 

C/INF/RHP Dominick Pina (Union Grove, 2029)
Pina would continue to show quality actions this past weekend, with a smooth right-handed swing, above-average defense behind the plate, and a steady glove on the dirt. The rising freshman would also show well on the mound against the eventual tournament champions, throwing five innings of quality baseball, showing a fastball that would sit in the 75-77 mph range that was paired with a 65-67 mph breaking ball. 

GRB Northstar 14u Navy

SS/OF Sam Drieman (Cretin-Derham Hall, 2029) 
Set to attend the Junior Future Games as member of Team Minnesota, Drieman is a must-know name in the emerging Minnesota 2029 class. At the plate, he saw the ball extremely well, showing a smooth operation with a quick bat path. In the field, Drieman had a natural look to him with athleticism that played up on the dirt. In the outfield, Drieman would also show quality actions, with above-average reads and routes. A wiry 5-foot-10, 140-pounds, there is plenty of room for added strength within his present frame. 

3B Easton Simons (Hill Murray, 2029)
Simons would show an intriguing left-handed hitting profile at the hot corner this past weekend. Defensively, the rising freshman stood out with fluid, confident footwork, developing hands, and above-average arm strength. At the plate, the left-handed bat looked the part with poise in the box and a developing feel for the barrel. In setup he presents an athletic base, utilizing a short stride to get into a position of launch with a slightly uphill bat path. Strong 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame. 

GRB Rays Illinois Gallina

C Edmond Serifov (Antioch, 2029)
Serifov displayed an athletic 5-foot-8, 153-pound frame. The right-hander operated out of a balanced setup, with a simple left-and-place stride, showing quick and direct hands that worked into a compact finish. Serifov went 1-for-2 at the plate in Friday’s game, lining a hard hit triple into the left-center gap. 

GRB Rays Illinois Shower

C/OF Pauly Withaeger (IL, 2029)
Witheager has a strong frame and looks comfortable at the plate. Withaeger had two singles on Thursday afternoon. One straight back up the middle and the other to his pull-side. He collected two RBIs as well adding to his productive day. Defensively looked comfortable behind the plate with ability to catch/throw behind the plate as well.

SS/OF Henry Shower (Jacobs, 2029) 
Shower presents an athletic 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame. Defensively Shower has soft hands and range to the glove hand side. He had multiple attempts in the field and showed a strong arm across. Offensively he has a simple gap-to-gap approach and good rhythm in the box. Shower finished the game 2-for-2 against Longshots Teal. 

2B/RHP Mason Aumann (Huntley, 2029)
Aumann presents a young and wiry-athletic 5-foot-2, 103-pound frame with room for a lot more growth. Aumann came into relief against Longshots Teal throwing a 72-74 mph fastball, paired with his 65-67 mph curveball. He has a clean delivery that primarily works out of the stretch with a loose high ¾ arm action. Aumann has good tempo on the mound and mixes his pitches well.

OF/RHP Mason Koth (Jacobs, 2029)
Athletic 6-foot, 155-pounds. Batting out of the two spot, Koth reached three times, with his first at bat resulting in a two RBI double. Koth showcased great feel for the barrel, calm lower half in the swing. Barrel stays in the zone for a long time, allowing for consistent strong contact out front. On the mound the right-hander would show an upside look in a brief relief appearance. An athlete on the mound, working in rhythm and in sync with a loose and whippy arm action. The fastball played mostly in the upper-70s reaching 82 mph in two strike counts while spinning a 12/6 breaking ball out of the same window. 

GRB STIKS Black

INF Brock Stuck (Nicolet, 2029)
Athletic 5-foot-10, 157-pound infielder, producing at the top of the order throughout the entire weekend. At the plate, the right-hander showed feel for the barrel throughout the weekend, maintaining connection while making consistent impact out in front. Defensively at shortstop Stuck was able to make plays on the move flashing range to both sides.

Great Lakes Baseball Academy 14

C CJ Dornfield (East Ridge, 2030)
Dornfield would present a quality left-handed hitting catcher profile throughout the course of the weekend. At the plate, the rising eighth grader showcased an athletic swing, with a quiet presence in the box while producing consistently intelligent at-bats. Defensively, the backstop showed soft hands and above-average defensive awareness that allowed his present toolset to play up. An athletic 6-foot, 175-pounds, Dornfield is a name to follow in Minnesota’s 2030 class. 

INF Caleb Williams (Woodbury, 2029) 
Williams would act as a viable top-of-the-order right-handed bat throughout the weekend, with a line drive approach and above average feel for the barrel. In setup, the right-handed bat presents an athletic, slightly open base, utilizing a short leg kick to get into a position of launch with a slightly uphill bat path. Defensively, showed athletic actions on the dirt with confident footwork. Developing 5-foot-6, 130-pound frame with present athleticism. 

Halos National 2029

C/RHP Kael Boenitz (Menomonee Falls, 2029) 
Boenitz presents an athletic 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. Boenitz went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs against Athlete HQ 14u. In the box he features an athletic setup, gap-to-gap approach, and a short stride to start the swing. On the mound Boenitz pitched in four innings and had six strikeouts with no walks and only three earned runs. He offered a two pitch mix, the fastball was sitting 74-75 mph paired with a 66-67 mph curveball. On the mound he has a clean arm action and delivery. 

OF Robert Perez II (Bay Port, 2029)  
An athletic 5-foot-11, 157-pound frame, Perez showed well in the Halos game against Top Tier West. The left-handed hitter ended his game 1-for-2 with a walk and a line drive double. Perez took a fastball back up the middle over the center fielder's head for an easy double. He sets up in the back of the box, slightly open, with a two-tap load, rhythm in his hands, and an easy, fluid uphill swing. 

HIt Dogs Illinois Reesh

RHP/OF Braxton Bruns (Rochelle, 2029)
Presenting an athletic 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame with long-levers and remaining projection, Bruns would show an intriguing two-way profile throughout the weekend. On the mound the right-handed arm would work from a high ¾ slot, showing a 78-80 mph fastball with arm-side run and life up in the zone. Bruns would also show a sharp 68-70 mph curveball with tight spin and swing & miss traits, also flashing a changeup at 72 mph with developing shape. The rising freshman would also show quality actions at the plate and in the outfield throughout the weekend. The right-handed bat had a confident presence in the box, with a gap-to-gap seeking, line-drive approach. Bruns hunted fastballs up in the zone and consistently did damage for his Hit Dogs squad. Defensively, he showed quality reads and routes in the outfield, with athleticism and speed that consistently played up.

SS/RHP Cody Busch (Joliet Catholic, 2029)
Coming in at a projectable 5-foot-7, 140-pound frame, Busch impressed in every way imaginable. At the plate, the right-hander operated out of an athletic, balanced setup, working into a short toe-tap stride with loose hands. Busch was all over the barrel in Thursday’s 10-0 win. He went 2-for-2 at the plate with two sharply hit doubles to center field. The same story wrote itself Saturday night as Busch was all over the barrel again, going 2-for-3 with a single up the middle, and a shot banging off the base of the left-field wall, missing a home run by mere feet. Busch was a consistent, confident presence out of the leadoff spot for his Hit Dogs squad with an effective line-drive approach. Defensively, it's clean fluid actions with excellent footwork. Would also show aggressive base running tendencies with an above-average run tool. On the mound, the right-handed a would throw a complete-game during the first round of Sunday bracket-play, collecting seven strikeouts with a 62% strike percentage. Working from a low 3/4s slot, Busch would show a two-pitch mix which included an upper-70s fastball and an upper-60s gyro slider. A competitive presence mound, Busch was an athletic mover with evident  room for velocity gains as he grows into his developing frame. 

C Mason Carlson (Joliet Catholic, 2029)
Carlson would provide  an intriguing look throughout the weekend with above-average defensive traits and consistent feel for the barrel. Defensively, the backstop showed confident actions with above-average hands and leadership qualities that played up throughout the weekend. At the plate, the right-handed bat had a simple line-drive approach that consistently put his team in good positions. Would finish the weekend 7-for-12 with two doubles, six RBIs, and four walks. Strong 5-foot-8, 175-pound frame.

INF Todd Dulaney Jr (Nazareth, 2029)
Dulaney Jr. is a wiry, highly projectable 5-foot-10, 143-pound frame, giving one of the best looks throughout the entire tournament. Setting up towards the back of the box, the righty has a simple step load with explosive hands that stay compact, keeping the barrel through the zone on a flat path, staying through the ball. With the glove, he spent a majority of the weekend at second, but additionally showed well at short during his lone start at the position. An athletic defender with fluid, clean actions and a loose, whippy arm, is a must-follow in the 2029 class. 

OF Mason Heydecker (Schaumburg, 2029)
A football player by trade, throughout the weekend Heydecker would act as a physical left-handed bat and consistent defensive presence in centerfield for his Hit Dogs squad. At the plate, the rising freshman showed a loose swing that was consistently on the barrel with opposite field tendencies. Defensively, the two-sport athlete’s athleticism was evident with speed that allowed his present reads to play up with quality routes. Athletic 5-foot-7, 155-pound frame. 

OF Matthew Holley (Homewood-Flossmoor, 2029)
Holley displayed a wiry 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter showed quality bat-to-ball skills the entire weekend, collecting multiple extra base hits. He worked out of a narrow upright stance, displaying rhythmic hands that worked into a flatter path, with feel for the barrel. Holley showcased some easy pull-side strength in Thursday’s 10-0 win, lining a hard hit double into the left-center gap. 

1B Drew Reece (East Lansing, 2029)
Reece would provide an intriguing middle-of-the-order presence for his Hit Dogs squad, finishing the weekend 6-for-15 with two doubles, five RBIs, six runs, and four walks. The left-handed bat was a quiet presence in the box, utilizing a controlled line drive approach throughout the weekend, showing quality control of the barrel. In setup, Reece presents an athletic, slightly open base, using a short leg kick to get into a position of launch. 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame.

1B/OF Grant Spackey (Nazareth, 2029)
Spackey would show a versatile defensive profile and a solid right-handed bat throughout the weekend. An athletic defender at first base, was an asset at the position, solidifying a strong Hit Dogs infield. Spackey would also get reps in the outfield, with above-average reads and routes, offering valuable versatility to his squad. At the plate, the right-handed bat showed an aggressive approach, with developing wrist strength and feel to hit. Athletic 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame.

RHP/OF Hector Valdez (Nazareth, 2029)
Valdez would offer one of more intriguing two-way looks of the weekend, with above-average stuff on the mound and a strong right-handed bat. On the mound, the right-handed arm would get the Sunday semifinal start and would throw a five inning no-hitter in which he allowed zero earned runs and collected five strikeouts. With developing feel for the strikezone, the rising freshman would show a 78-82 mph fastball that was thrown alongside a sharp 68-70 mph slider with up to 2200 rpm and a developing low-70s changeup. A dynamic offensive presence, Valdez offered an aggressive, loft-based approach with strong hands through contact. With advanced feel for the barrel Valdez would finish the weekend 9-for-16 with three doubles, a triple, seven RBIs, six runs, and three walks. Strong 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame. 

RHP Caden Reesh (Barrington, 2029) 
Reesh came into relief after the first inning against ISA Royal and was lights out, tossing three innings of one-run ball, striking out three. The 5-foot-6, 125-pound frame didn’t overpower hitters, but was locating and able to get soft contact outs. Showing a two-pitch mix with the fastball 72-74 mph and curveball 60-62 mph. Where the velo lacks, it is made up for by projectable mechanics and pitch ability, as Reesh has an athletic, fluid, and reputable motion. This, along with a loose, quick short arm where the ball jumps out, sets him in a good position to continue to climb as he grows. He also got it done with the bat, going 2-for-2 with two singles, a walk, and three RBIs. 

Hitters Black 2029

SS/3B Justin Les (St. Laurence, 2029)
Les would show a quality left-handed bat throughout the weekend with an effective contact oriented, line drive approach, showing the ability to slash the baseball and produce intelligent, selfless at-bats for his Hitters squad. Would finish the weekend 9-for-14 with two doubles, 10 RBIs, seven runs, and three walks. Athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame.

RHP Chris Morrison (Providence Catholic, 2030)
Playing up a year, Morrison would get the Sunday quarterfinal start for his squad, throwing five innings while only allowing one earned run, four hits, and collecting four strikeouts. An athletic mover on the mound with arm speed, Morrison would show a 75-77 mph fastball that would top out at 78 mph, and was thrown alongside a 66-68 mph breaking ball. The rising eighth grader was confident in the zone, showing some maturity and poise to his current profile on the mound. A must-follow name in the emerging Illinois 2030 class. 

Hitters U14 Navy 2029

C/3B/UTL Chris Worrell Jr. (Oak Creek, 2030)
Possessing an athletic projectable frame at 5 foot-11, 165-pounds. Worrell Jr’s ability to hit stands out with fluid hands and a whole-field approach. Throughout the weekend, the left-handed bat would consistently be on time with his swing, barreling balls to all areas of the field throughout the weekend. Defensively, Worrell would show versatility throughout the weekend, receiving time behind the plate and at the hot corner. As a catcher he showed soft hands with arm strength to pair. On the dirt, the rising eighth grader showed confident, developing actions with baseball IQ that allowed his defensive toolset and athleticism to consistently play up. A mature field presence with a quiet confidence to his game, Worrell continues to cement himself as a must-know name in the nation’s emerging 2030 class. 

OF/RHP Oliver Peltz (Homestead, 2029)
Peltz has an athletic and projectable frame standing at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. Receiving the Thursday start, Peltz threw two and one thirds innings with 3 strikeouts. Peltz showed fluid actions on the mound with a fastball up to 77 mph and feel for a curveball. An offensive presence at the plate, his short stride, quick hands, and ability to hit to all sides of the field shows promise. 

1B Cooper Graham (Mukwonago, 2029)
Standing at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Graham has evident present strength, with still room for more physical development. A comfortable, confident presence in the box, the right-handed bat showed above-average bat speed and a developing power profile throughout the weekend. Would finish the tournament 7-for-18 with a double, seven RBIs, six runs, and three walks. 

RHP/2B Brock Taske (Oak Creek High, 2029)
Taske has an athletic frame with room to fill in and add strength. He showed his ability to hit today with two singles on the day. He barreled a ball to the opposite field and also hit one up the middle for his two hits. Defensively Taske started the game at second base, showed soft hands and fluid footwork with an arm to pair. Later he came in to pitch and ended the game on three straight strikeouts. His fastball sat 72-74 mph and had feel for offspeed with ability to spot his curveball. 

SS Cael Ebert (Homestead, 2029)
A contact-oriented bat out of the leadoff spot for his Hitters squad, Ebert would finish the weekend 9-for-21 with two doubles, two RBIs, nine runs, and five walks. With advanced barrel control and evident baseball acumen, Ebert has the potential to develop an above-average hit tool as he enters high school. Defensively, the shortstop showed athletic footwork and hands that consistently made him an asset up-the-middle. Athletic 5-foot-9, 135-pound frame with plenty of room for added strength. 

OF Matthew Nolan (Greendale, 2029)
An intriguing line-drive oriented left-handed bat, Nolan would act as a top-of-the-order presence for his Hitters squad, producing consistent quality at-bat throughout the weekend. In setup, he presents an athletic, slightly open base, utilizing a toe tap to get into a position of launch with a level bat path. Athletic 5-foot-9, 148-pound frame with room for added strength. 

Impact Sports Academy Royal

LHP Eli Shepard  (Freedom, 2029)
Possessing an athletic and projectable 5-foot-9, 135-pound frame, Eli Shepard was dominant on the mound for ISA Royal. The lefty threw five innings allowing zero runs and two hits while striking out five. On the mound, he features a quick tempo with a high leg lift slightly throwing across his body and a high 3/4 arm slot. 

LHP Trent Demeuse (Preble, 2029)
Demeuse presents an impressive 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. His fastball sat 79-80 mph topping out at 81 mph and his changeup was sitting at 69-70 mph. On the mound Demeuse has good tempo and strong presence. He keeps hitters off balance with his two pitch mix while occasionally flashing his 68-70 mph slider. He finished the game with eight strikeouts across four innings only allowing one run and two hits. Overall Demeuse had an impressive outing and has the tools to project well in the future on the mound.  

SS Cole Pichette (Preble, 2029)  
Pitchette gave an intriguing look during Saturday night's game, where the shortstop went 1-for-2 with a double. Standing in with a lean 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame, the right-handed hitter took an 80mph fastball through the left-center gap for a stand-up double. Set up with a wide stance, a knee-knock trigger, and an uphill path with hands drifting back. With the glove, the shortstop has good actions, working around the ball with a strong, loose arm, with throws on a line. 

JBA Clutch

RHP Johnathan Will (Marshfield, 2029)
Displaying an athletic and projectable 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame, Johnathan Will was dominant on the mound. The righty threw three innings of work not allowing a run or a hit with one walk while striking out two. His fastball was thrown 70-72 mph complemented with a 65 mph changeup. He has a relaxed presence on the mound, moves fluidly, and lands in line. 

SS Carter Simonis (Mosinee, 2029)
Standing at a strong and athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame, Carter Simonis was impressive at the plate and in the field. At the plate, Simonis collected two RBIs on a double to left field in the second inning. He has a relaxed presence in the batter’s box with loose hands and a shorter bat path. In the field, he was consistently making routine plays and showed athleticism with a natural look. 

RHP/SS Carter Simonis (Mosinee, 2029)
Standing at a strong and athletic 5 foot 11, 165-pound frame. Simons looked comfortable at the plate today. He was 1-for-1 today at the plate where he barreled a ball off the wall to his pull-side, showing his easy power at the plate. He has a short stride to pair with loose hands at the plate. Defensively he started the game on the mound where his fastball sat 72-74 mph. 

INF/C Drake Volm (DC Everest, 2029)
Athletic, high waist, and projectable build standing at 5 foot 10 140 pounds with room to grow. Volm led the charge on offense for JBA going 3-for-3 driving in all the runs on the day for his team. He looks comfortable at the plate with an athletic setup, quick stride, and quick hands. Defensively Volm looked comfortable at third base, showed soft hands and good footwork with an arm to pair. 

Longshots Baseball Teal

C Austyn Santana (N/A, 2030) 
Santana has an athletic build with room to develop and add strength. He looked comfortable at the plate with a good approach to hit the other way. He barreled a ball to the opposite field on an 0-2 count for a base hit. He has an athletic setup at the plate with a short, quick stride. 

LHP/LHB Alekzander Laden (Homeschool, 2029) 
Starting on the mound Saturday afternoon for the Longshots was left-hander Alexander Laden. Standing in as a high-waisted, 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame, the lefty tossed two innings, allowing no runs, on one hit, one walk, and struck out one. He was showing a two-pitch mix with the fastball up to 76 mph, sitting 73-75 mph - and the curveball sitting 60-61 mph. It was a heavy fastball usage, filling up the zone from an over-the-top slot, with a quick snapping arm action. The motion was repeatable, with lots of room to develop. Laden was also showing well with the bat, going 1-for-2 with a pull-side line drive single and a loud fly out just shy of the center field warning track. Setting up tall in the back of the box with a long stride, it's a fluid, low-effort swing able to generate natural pop. 

3B Zachary Donaldson (Montini Catholic, 2029)  
A muscular 5-foot-9, 175-pound frame with a defined lower-half, Donaldson showed well on both sides of the ball. The right-handed hitter was all over the barrel, showing opposite field power with a line drive double to right and a line drive down the left field line, going foul by an inch. He has clear power over all parts of the field. He has a wide base with a toe tap and twitchy hands that calm down, working simply and quickly with the ball. A simple, compact swing that generates easy power. Donaldson also made an appearance on the mound, showing a two-pitch mix with the fastball sitting 72-75 mph, T76 mph - and the curveball at 62 mph. He has quick and fluid arm action, looking like an infielder on the mound. In one inning of work, he filled up the zone and was able to get easy outs. 

SS Luke Zizek (Downers Grove South, 2029) 
Showing well on both sides of the ball was a wiry high high-waisted, 5-foot-8, 135-pound frame shortstop. Zizek had fluid actions at short with noticeable range and a loose whippy arm working from a lower ¾ slot. With the bat, he went 2-for-2 with a triple, single, and walk in a Saturday afternoon game. The righty has a wide base with lots of rhythm in high-set hands, and a high leg-kick to his belt. He was working pull-side with his single and triple over the center fielder's head. An athletic player with lots of room to grow. 

MASH 14U Black

RHP Mason Lewandoski (Cretin Derham Hall, 2029)
Catching eyes early with his glove at short, Lewandoski made his presence known with confident, athletic, and easy actions at short. He has evident range up the middle, with a loose arm that was working from a ¾ slot. After showing what he could do with the glove, the bat followed and was loud. Standing in with a 5-foot-7, 145-pound athletic frame, the left-handed hitter started his day with a walk, then barreled a ball that one hoped the fence for a triple. There's rhythm in the box as he sets up in the back, with his knees bent, and a long stride out. The hands tend to drift, but he has present bat speed that allows him to get the barrel to the ball. It’s a smooth, powerful lefty stroke that can create damage pull side. Lewandoski was also impressive on the mound. The righty threw five and one-third innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out eight. His fastball was a firm 78-81 mph complemented by a sharp 69-70 mph slider. On the mound, Lewandoski is a deliberate mover, landing in line with a full arm action and a high 3/4 slot. 

Michael Spear (Southwest, 2029)
Standing at 5-foot-7, 150-pounds, Michael Spear has a projectable frame. Spear had a strong showing at the plate as he collected two hits, a walk, and three RBIs. His biggest hit was a three-run double to left field in the fifth inning. Spear features a calm presence in the batter’s box with soft hands, a minimal stride and a shorter bat path. 

LF Aaron Smith (Eden Prairie, 2029)  
A tall, long-limbed 6-foot, 155-pound frame, Smith showed well during Mash’s Saturday morning game. The righty went 2-for-4 with a single and a double, along with a hard line out to center. Working with a pull-side approach, Smith stands tall in the back of the box with his hands set high, dropping as he loads, setting up for a flat path through the zone. Smith showcased some intentful swings in Friday’s 6-3 win, finishing 2-for-4 with a deep pull-side inside-the-park home run. He has a lot of room to grow into his 6-foot frame and will be an interesting follow as he continues to grow. 

OF Joey Diaz (Washburn High, 2029)  
A strong 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame with a defined lower half, Diaz has a mature and calm presence in the box. Setting up the righty has a wide base with rhythm in the hands, that stays compact and quick, keeping the barrel through the zone and able to drive the ball with ease. It’s a low-effort fluid swing that can create damage to all parts of the field with ease. In his first at-bat, he sat on a curveball, able to barrel it for a two-run single. His calm presence and ability to generate easy pop make him an intriguing follow in the Gopher state. 

3B Brandon Rye (Austin Senior High, 2029) 
Standing in the box, Rye is a built and filled-out 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. The righty was working up the middle in his early morning at-bats this Saturday, lining two back up the middle. Rye has a presence in the box with a built and powerful lower half. This is followed by hands and a barrel that work through the ball, able to get barrels with ease. The right-hander was all over the barrel in Friday’s 6-3 win, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. With the glove, the third baseman showed good actions, making a pair of back-handed plays and a slower roller, all followed by a strong arm working throws on a line.

C Blake Seppala (Farmington, 2029)
Standing in at a wiry 5-foot-8, 168-pound frame. The right hander displayed a simple setup, operating with loose hands that worked into a line-drive approach. He had a strong day at the plate in Friday’s 6-3 win, doubling on a line drive to left field to finish 1-for-2. Seppala showed quality actions behind the dish all weekend, proving to be a willing blocker with a live arm that threw out multiple baserunners.

Lumberjacks 14

C/RHP Roman Cirhart  (Woodbury, 2029) 
Cirhart presents an athletic 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame with more room to fill out. On the mound Cirhart has a clean delivery and high ¾ arm action. He offered a two pitch mix with the fastball sitting at 78-81 mph topping out at 82 mph and the curveball at 64-67 mph. Despite running into some trouble in his later innings, Cirhart showed feel for his fastball on the corners and utilized his curveball deep in the counts.  

Outlaws Baseball 14u

3B/SS Jaxson Hockenbury (N/A, 2029)
Hockenbury would show well during Outlaws’ Saturday game against Athletes HQ, going 1-for-2, with a run scored and a walk. Presenting a strong frame with some present athleticism, Hockenberry stood out for his above-average footwork and glove at the hot corner. A controlled aggressive approach at the plate, Hockenbury had good strike zone awareness with confident takes throughout the day. A name to follow in Illinois’ emerging 2029 class.

PTA Cardinal 14U

RHP Cameron Palmgren (Case, 2029)
Possessing an athletic and projectable 5-foot-10, 144-pound frame, Cameron Palgren was impressive on the mound. The righty threw four innings not allowing an earned run or a walk. His fastball was thrown 74-76 mph complemented with a 61-62 mph curveball. He is loose and an athletic mover, rides his back leg down the mound, and lands in-line.

C/OF Michael Lee (Marquette University HS, 2029)
Long levers with a projectable 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame. Showcased a smooth left handed swing with good discipline. Consistently on the barrel, loose mover with plenty of room to continue to fill out. 

PTA Clark

OF Cooper Gear (Valpraiso, 2029)
Presenting a dynamic toolset, Gear has the potential to develop into a five tool player as he enters the high school ranks. The left-handed bat has a quality feel for the barrel with strength that he has consistently shown the ability to leverage. A true athlete with wiry strength throughout his 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame, Gear’s speed plays up both in the outfield and on the basepaths. Would finish the weekend 5-for-19, with a triple, two home runs, five RBIs, five runs scored, and two walks. Must know name in the nation’s emerging 2029 class. 

C Hayden Jones (Deforest, 2030)
Jones would show quality defensive and offensive traits throughout the weekend. Behind the dish, the rising eighth grader showed confident hands with above-average catch and throw tendencies. At the plate, the right-handed bat had a confident presence in the box and took intentful swings throughout the weekend, constantly looking to do damage for his PTA squad. Would finish the weekend 6-for-14 with three doubles, five RBIs, four runs scored, and three walks. 

INF Eliot Worm (New Berlin West, 2028) 
Worm showcased consistency for finding the barrel out of the leadoff spot for PTA Clark. Athleticism plays well running the bases as well as in the field, primarily playing up the middle. Stands in an upright position at the plate with a tall leg kick. Bat stays on plane through the zone. Worm went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in Thursday’s 6-1 win with three singles and a walk. 

Slammers Black 2029

RHP Brady Goldberg (Vernon Hills, 2029) 
Possessing an athletic and projectable 5-foot-7, 126-pound frame, Brady Goldberg was pounding the zone on the mound. He threw five innings while striking out six. His fastball was thrown 73-75 mph complemented with a 64-66 mph slider. He is an athletic mover on the mound with a natural look. He will be someone to follow in the future.

INF Aiden Winston (Marian Catholic, 2029)
Smooth left-handed swing. Coil load, showed discipline at the plate as well as the ability to find the barrel. Athletic and aggressive runner on the bases, scoring from second on an infield error. Looked the part at multiple infield positions throughout the day. 

Top Tier Americans 14U

RHP Vincente Amaro (De La Salle, 2029)
Amaro would get the Sunday Quarterfinal start for his Top Tier squad and would throw five and a third innings of work, allowing two earned runs while collecting six strikeouts along the way. The rising freshman showed advanced pitchability and poise on the mound, ultimately sporting a 71.3% strike rate. The right-handed arm would show a quality two pitch mix including an upper-70s-low-80s fastball with run and a low-70s slider. Working from a high 3/4s arm slot, Amaro showed athletic movements on the mound with quality, repeatable mechanics. Presenting a long-levered, athletic frame, there is plenty of room for added strength within Amaro’s present frame.

LHP Townes Cinninger (St. Joseph, 2029)
Cinninger would make an appearance in relief during Top Tier’s Sunday Quarterfinal matchup, the left-handed arm would throw one inning, collecting two strikeouts, and allowing zero earned runs. Working from a high 3/4s arm slot, the rising freshman would sport a two-pitch mix with about 20 mph of separation: a low-80s fastball with arm-side run & a low-60s curveball with gradual break that Cinninger threw with confidence in his short outing. An athletic 6-foot, 146-pound frame, there is plenty of room for added strength on Cinninger’s present frame. 

OF Paulie Hobbs (Marist, 2029)
An all around stellar tournament for the rising freshman, Hobbs’ most noticeable performance would be his 2-for-2 game against a talented Forceout squad in which he would hit a triple and a towering two-run shot off of the MATC scoreboard, ultimately finishing the weekend 8-for-12 with a double, two triples, two home runs, nine RBIs, five runs scored and two walks. A mature presence in the box with confidence and intelligence at the plate, Hobbs showed an aggressive, line-drive oriented approach at the plate with above average barrel control and bat speed. An athletic 6-foot, 175-pounds with present strength throughout his present frame, Hobbs is a must-know name in the nation’s emerging 2029 class. 

MIF Andrew Jones (Marist, 2029)
Presenting an athletic 5-foot-9, 155-pounds frame, Jones acted as a consistent offensive presence out of the leadoff spot for his Top Tier squad, showing a calm, smooth swing and above-average instincts on the basepaths. Would finish the weekend 3-for-8 with two RBIs, eight runs scored, and five walks. Defensively, the shortstop showed athletic actions on the dirt with fluid footwork and developing hands. Name to follow in Illinois’ emerging 2029 class. 

CIF/RHP Leo Kelly (Loyola, 2029)
This past weekend Kelly would show a top echelon two-way profile for the 2029 class. At the plate, the right-handed bat showcased an aggressive, loft-based approach and above average feel for the barrel. The rising freshman would take intentful swings throughout the weekend, constantly looking to do damage for his Top Tier squad. Would finish the weekend 4-for-9 with a double, a triple, a home run, seven RBIs, six runs scored, and four walks. On the mound, the right-handed arm would make a short appearance during the Sunday quarterfinal, coming out of the bullpen sporting a lively 82-84 mph fastball. A true competitor on the mound, Kelly has the makings of a well above-average arm as he enters the high school ranks. Presenting a still developing 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame, Kelly has dynamic strength throughout, which allows his present toolset to play up with his competitive nature on both sides of the ball. Must-know name in the nation’s emerging 2029 class. 

LHP/OF Charlie Kohman (Downers Grove North, 2029)
Kohman would get the Saturday evening start for his Top Tier squad and would end up working a four inning complete game in which he showed a quality three pitch mix. The fastball would sit in the upper-70s with some sinking action and was thrown alongside a low-70s changeup that Kohman threw with fade and feel in addition to mid-60s curveball. At the plate, the left-handed bat would also show well throughout the weekend with above average feel for the barrel, explosive bat speed, and an intentful aggressive approach. 

C Nathan Miller (Harper Creek, 2029)
Miller would show quality actions at the plate and behind the dish throughout the weekend. Defensively, the backstop showed above average catch and throw tendencies while also acting as a field general for a talented Top Tier squad. In setup, the right-handed bat presents a balanced base, before getting into a position of launch via a leg kick with an uphill bat path. Would finish the weekend 5-for-15 with three RBIs and one run scored. Athletic 5-foot-11, 140-pound frame. 

1B Dempsey Steinmetz (Marist, 2029)
A confident presence in the box, Steinmetz would present a viable top-of-the-order bat throughout the weekend. In setup, the right-handed bat stands tall before utilizing a simple leg kick to get into a position of launch with a level bat path. A 6-foot-2, 175-pounds with wiry strength that translated at the plate, Steinmetz intentful swing decisions allowed for his present toolset to play up throughout the weekend. 

Top Tier West Rader

C Harrison Aiello (IL, 2029) 
A fully built, strong frame with a defined lower-half, Aiello was all over the barrel Saturday afternoon. The big right-handed hitter had a triple through the left-center gap and a line drive single. Athletic for his frame, moving around the bases quickly and efficiently. Behind the plate, he’s athletic, working throughout multiple positions with a strong arm, with throws on a line to the bag. 

3B Cody Rader (IL, 2029) 
With an athletic, long-limbed frame, Rader impressed in his second game Saturday afternoon. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Starting the game with a hard ground ball single up the middle was followed up by a double that one-hopped the wall. Rader turned on an inside fastball and was able to drive it with quick hands that get around the ball. It’s a quick, powerful swing that can create damage with fast hands and lower half. With the glove at third, Rader has clean fluid actions, moving well with good footwork. 

1B/LHP Caleb Soliman (N/A, 2029)
Soliman would have quite the two-way performance during Top Tier West’s matchup against the eventual tournament champions. At the plate, the left-handed bat would go 1-for-3 with an RBI, showing quiet presence in the box and loose hands. On the mound, the left-handed arm would throw six innings of quality baseball, allowing three earned runs and collecting three strikeouts while sporting a 64.6% strike rate. An athletic frame, there is remaining projection within Soliman’s present frame.
