Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Middle Infielders

Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted middle infielders in the class.

Brayden Shannon SS / 3B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2027

Shannon is one of the best athletes, not just in the state but in the country, headlined by a 60 time of 6.47 seconds. There is plenty of strength to go along with the speed, with EVs in the upper 90s. The strength carries over to the infield as well where he's been gunned at 85 mph.

Connor McCool SS / RHP / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2027

Another athlete with an excellent blend of speed and strength, McCool is also a legitimate two-way prospect at the next level. At the plate, he's produced exit velocities as high as 96.2 mph, and defensively he has displayed impressive arm strength, throwing it around the infield at 90 mph.

Drew Pittman SS / 2B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2027

Pittman is an exciting high-upside prospect who should continue to see jumps in his already-solid numbers as he adds strength to his long frame. Presently, he's got nice speed, clocking a 60 time of 6.99 seconds. There's some pop at the dish as well, with EVs in the low 90s.

Cole Ryherd SS / 2B / Blue Valley West High, KS / 2027

Ryherd has added some strength over the past year, and has seen some noticeable improvement in his number across the board as he pairs some improved power numbers with solid barrel control to put together a nice profile as a hitter. He's smooth defensively, with solid arm strength.

Micah Gray SS / RHP / Emporia, KS / 2027

Gray profiles really well both as a pitcher and position player, with a chance to continue as a two-way guy at the next level. The arm strength from the mound carries over nicely to the field, where he's been gunned at 87 mph tossing it across the diamond.
