Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2025 Diamond Notes (Week 2)

The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors.
NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches from around the state. Our Diamond Notes will be released each Wednesday throughout the high school spring season.
Pitcher of the Week (Week 2)

Brody Trosclair LHP / Thibodaux High School, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 47 / POS: 5
The Northwestern State recruit had an impressive Week 2 for the Tigers, on route to helping the team move their season record to 5-4. Trosclair made three separate appearances last week with his first being in relief against Denham Springs on Monday, where he earned a save, after closing out the game with two strikeouts. He then tossed a 4 inning no-hitter with ten strikeouts in his start on Tuesday against Houma Christian, but his biggest contribution came on Saturday against then-undefeated Catholic (BR). Trosclair entered the game in the bottom of the 5th inning with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out. He got the Bears three-hole hitter to fly out to right field, before hitting their cleanup hitter, which loaded the bases with two outs. Trosclair then struck out the next guy to end the threat, and ended up earning the save against Catholic (BR), after tossing 2 2/3 no-hit innings with 0 walks and 4 strikeouts. In total for Week 2, he logged 7 2/3 no-hit innings pitched with 0 walks and 16 strikeouts.

Koa Romero 3B / RHP / Hahnville, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 2
A Top-10 player in the state's 2027 class since he arrived on Hahnville's campus, Romero was on fire at the plate in Week 2 for the Tigers. He kicked his week off by leading Hahnville to a big win last Tuesday against then-undefeated Dutchtown. In that game alone, he went 4-for-4 with 2 homeruns, 1 triple, 4 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. He then hit another homerun on Saturday against Opelousas Catholic, and finished the week 6-for-11 (.545) with 3 homeruns, 1 triple, 7 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored.

Carter Wilson LHP / OF / Sulphur, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 44 / POS: 10
The uncommitted junior southpaw was terrific in his start last Monday night against then-undefeated St. Thomas More. Wilson tossed 5 1/3 innings and gave up 2 R on 4 H with 1 BB and 10 K's, as the Tors came from behind to beat the Cougars by a score of 3-2. |

Grant Sunstrom RHP / University Lab, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 3
The former Future Gamer and Louisiana Tech commit had an impressive Week 2 outing for the defending State Champion Cubs. Sunstrom tossed a complete-game shutout allowing only 2 hits and 0 earned runs with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts to lead University Lab in the 2-1 win over C.E. Byrd.

David Flynn RHP / Ascension Christian, LA / 2025Flynn had a big-time week at the plate for Ascension Christian in Week 2. For the week, he went 9-for-13 (.692) with a .733 OBP, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 6 R, and 1 SB. He also logged an inning on the mound and had 3 K's. |

David Johnson / Laccassine, LA / 2026Johnson went 4-for-6 (.667) at the plate in Week 2 with 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB, and 3 SB. |

Grant Gautreau C / Prairieville, LA / 2026The Hurricanes backstop had a nice week swinging the bat in Week 2. In four games, he went 7-for-11 (.636) with 5 RBI and 3 BB, as Prairieville finished the week with a 3-1 record. |

Andrew Odom / Natchitoches Central, LA / 2025In four games, Odom went 7-for-11 with a 2B, 5 RBI, and didn't strike out once. |

Skyler Andrews OF / Zachary, LA / 2025The uncommitted senior has been the engine of the Broncos offense and he continued to swing a hot bat in Week 2. Andrews went 7-for-13 (.538) with 1 double, 5 runs, 1 walk, 2 hit-by-pitches, and he also swiped 7 bases. |

Collin Walls INF / RHP / Zachary, LA / 2025Walls along with teammate Noah Sullivan combined to throw a no-hitter against Waxahatchie (TX). He ended up throwing the last two innings with 2 strikeouts. |

Parker Abshire 3B / Lafayette, LA / 2026The uncommitted junior infielder hit at a .625 clip last week for the Lions, which included 2 homeruns, 1 double, 9 runs batted in, and 2 stolen bases. |

Dayton Hicks RHP / Sulphur, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 140 / POS: 34
The LSU-Eunice commit had another good week for the Tors. Hicks got the start against Zachary and tossed a complete game giving up only 1 R on 3 H with 1 BB and 8 K's. |

Logan McNamara RHP / Mandeville, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 26
The Belhaven recruit was masterful against the then-undefeated Sam Houston Broncos last week. McNamara got the start in Game 1 of the series last Thursday and tossed 8 shutout IP with 0 BB and 8 K's on 98 pitches (75 strikes | 23 balls). |

Maxwell Sanchez RHP / Prairieville, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 259 / POS: 59
Sanchez led the Hurricanes to a 2-0 win over St. Martin's last week after tossing a complete-game shutout with 9 strikeouts. |

Jacob Brignac RHP / Ascension Christian, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 262 / POS: 62
The recent LSU-Alexandria commit turned in a really good start against Central Catholic last Thursday. Brignac tossed a complete-game and gave up 3 ER on 7 H with only 1 BB and 9 K's.

The uncommitted junior hit at a .300 clip last week with 2 2B, 5 RBI, and 3 R. He also tossed 4 innings on the mound and allowed 1 H and 1 R with 3 K's. |

The former Future Gamer and Louisiana-Lafayette recruit earned his first win of the season last week for the Eagles. Durbin tossed 4 shutout innings giving up 4 hits with 8 strikeouts. |

Gavin Brint RHP / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 207 / POS: 51
The Belhaven College recruit tossed a complete-game shutout with 0 BB and 13 K's last week. Brint has already tallied a 3-0 record through 19 IP this spring and hasn't allowed an earned run yet with only 2 BB and 34 K's.

Samuel Mitchell RHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 3
The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit was stellar again in his second outing of the year last week. Mitchell earned a win after tossing 5 shutout innings and giving up only 1 hit with 10 strikeouts. He also hit at a .600 clip for the week with 1 double and 5 runs batted in. |

Aiden Melna RHP / St. Frederick, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 90 / POS: 23
The Hinds Community College recruit turned in an excellent performance against defending Select Division IV State Champion Opelousas Catholic last week. Melna tossed a complete-game and gave up only 4 H and 0 ER with 2 BB and 13 K's.

Marshall Conner RHP / Benton, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 220 / POS: 53
The uncommitted senior picked up a win on the mound in Week 2, after tossing 5 innings and giving up 0 earned runs on 5 hits with 1 strikeout.

Noah Sullivan RHP / Zachary, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 15
The uncommitted senior combined with teammate Collin Walls to throw a complete game no-hitter against Waxahatchie (TX). Sullivan tossed 5 no-hit innings and had 4 strikeouts.

Cole Navarro RHP / 3B / Brother Martin, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 49 / POS: 14
The University of New Orleans recruit did it all in Week 2 for the Crusaders. He tossed a complete-game against Sulphur last Friday night, giving up only 1 earned run on 4 hits with 2 walks and 11 strikeouts. Navarro also hit at a .462 clip for the week with 3 2B, 5 RBI, and a .533 OBP.

Mac Griffin RHP / Walker, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 98 / POS: 24
The Holmes Community College recruit picked up a win last week after an impressive 77 pitch outing. Griffin tossed 6 1/3 innings and gave up 3 hits and 0 earned runs with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts to lead the Wildcats to a 5-3 win over Doyle.

Jaden Ard OF / 2B / Walker, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 6
The uncommitted junior was hot at the plate all week long, as the Wildcats improved their overall record to 7-1. For the week, Ard went 7-for-13 (.538) with a .667 OBP and scored 5 runs with 3 stolen bases.

Dwyer got the win against West Ouachita at the Trey Altick Tournament last weekend, after tossing 7 innings and giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 0 walks and 6 strikeouts. |

The Louisiana Tech recruit got the start last week at Northwood and was really good for the Chiefs. Guillet went 4 innings and allowed 0 hits and 1 run with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. |

The former Sr. Future Gamer and Baton Rouge Community College recruit went 5-for-14 (.357) with 4 runs batted in and 1 run scored last week, and also logged 2 shutout innings on the mound.

The Louisiana Tech recruit helped Benton improve their overall record to 8-0 last week. Jones went 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and a whopping 12 runs batted in, while also logging a no-hit inning pitched with 2 strikeouts.

The LSU-Eunice commit delivered on opening day for the Tigers. He got the start against Hahnville and earned the win, after tossing 5 no-hit innings with 3 BB and 10 K's.

The Bossier Parish CC recruit continued to swing the bat well in Week 2, as he went 7-for-15 with 2 doubles, 6 runs, and 2 walks.

Vick had a solid Week 2 at the plate for the Bucs. The LSU-Eunice recruit went 5-for-16 (.313) with 1 HR, 5 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored.

Jairus Miller LHP / Barbe, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 165 / POS: 12
The Hill College recruit picked up his first two wins of the season last week for the Bucs. Against South Beauregard he tossed a complete game shutout with 17 strikeouts, and then turned around and tossed 5 scoreless innings against Concorida Lutheran (TX) with 6 strikeouts.

Kelan Guidry SS / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 110 / POS: 26
The uncommitted senior shorstop swung the bat well in Week 2 for the Eagles. Guidry went 8-for-13 (.615) with 5 runs scored and 6 stolen bases.

John David Alexander OF / RHP / Barbe, LA / 2026The Texas A&M commit and former Future Gamer continued to swing a hot stick in Week 2. Alexander went 7-for-15 (.467) with 1 double, 2 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored last week.
