North Carolina Class of 2027: Rankings Update

With the close of the summer season and the start of the new school year, Prep Baseball North Carolina has updated its Class of 2027 Rankings. This update expands the list to the Top 275 players in the state, reflecting the depth and quality of talent in this group. For the, now, Junior class, this summer was the beginning of the eyes of the scouting world turning their attention to them. With bigger stages, several players in the state made big impressions. With new recruiting rules in place, coaches and scouts are getting a longer look at players prior to making offers. This summer was just the beginning of the process that will last, for many, well into their Senior year.

Summer of Growth

The summer of 2025 was a pivotal period for the Class of 2027. Players across the state competed in national tournaments, organizational scout days, and Prep Baseball events, testing their tools against high-level competition. Many prospects showed measurable gains in strength, speed, and skill, while others emerged as consistent performers in game action.

The Prep Baseball Future Games once again proved to be a major proving ground. Team Carolina’s 2027s delivered standout performances in front of more than 400 college coaches, with several players making significant jumps in their prospect status. Those gains are now reflected in the updated rankings.

Overall, the rankings database saw over 350 players added from Prep Baseball events and coverage. The 2027 Rankings move to the Top 275 players with over 60 players making their 1st appearance inside the state’s rankings.

2027 Rankings - New Names You Gotta Know

Stone Massey RHP / 1B / James Hunt High, NC / 2027

Massey had an impressive summer.  He popped at the Prep Baseball Scout Day with the Dirtbags in late May.  Long and lean, he is an athletic mover with the potential for electric stuff.   High ceiling and very intriguing follow in the coming year.

Charlie Beck SS / 2B / Central Davidson High, NC / 2027

Beck earned an invite to the Prep Baseball Future Games with a good performance at the Team Carolina Summer ID.  He also showed athleticism and ball to barrel skills at the State Games of NC.  As a member of Team NC at the Future Games, Beck continued to find barrels against some of the top arms in the country.

Dru Gaddy LHP / 1B / Surry Central High, NC / 2027

A low slot lefty, Gaddy presents a very difficult at-bat for left handed hitters.  Pair that with a fastball with heavy run and sink and he has the ability to attack high level hitters with his fastball.  Having said that, the slider flashes potential out-pitch ability.  His bullpen at the Prep Baseball Scout Day with CBA earned him an invite to join Team NC at the Future Games.

Kannon Huffman OF / C / Southwest High, NC / 2027

Long, lean and athletic.  A true utility player that showed skill behind the dish, the athleticism will allow him to be a productive defender in the outfield as well.  There is strength and quickness present.  His outing at the Team Carolina ID in Wilmington caught a lot of eyes.

Brennan McKenna RHP / SS / Holly Springs, NC / 2027

A very pleasant surprise at the Team Caroilna ID East in July, hosted at Campbell University, McKenna has an ease through his delivery with stuff that will present big issues for hitters.  Hidden behind some good arms at Holly Springs, McKenna is poised to overtake innings this spring as his athleticism suggests the stuff is going to continue to tick up.

Kayden Bradsher SS / C / Orange, NC / 2027

Bradsher checked a ton of boxes and stood out with his game play at the Top Prospect Games at High Point University in August.  A potential utility player, with the potential to stay in the middle of the field in the outfield and behind the dish, Bradsher will extend a roster, giving coaches plenty of ways to use him at the next level.

James Price 3B / 2B / Mount Tabor, NC / 2027

Strength with athletic movement patterns, Price may just be scratching the surface of his ultimate potential.  There is intent and damage when the barrel is working through the zone.  Athletically he moves well laterally and projects to be a solid infielder as he continues to mature.  He was a top performer at the Team Carolina ID Charlotte.

Jackson Stepp SS / West Henderson High, NC / 2027

Stepp came off the spring as a name to know.  His work at the east Coast Pro Showcase and then the Team Carolina ID Asheville bumped him into the rankings.  There is strength and quickness with room to his ceiling as he continues to refine his game, applying the athleticism that is present.

Jason Moschella OF / 1B / Wakefield High School, NC / 2027

Athleticism and quickness play.  Players that have quickness tend to develop and Moschella has plenty of quickness.  In May, Moschella caught eyes with his performance at the Prep Baseball Scout Day with Rawlings Prospects NC.  This performance earned him an invite to the Top Prospect Games.  He jumped off the page with his workout at High Point University as part of those 2025 Top Prospect Games.

Max Liriano SS / 3B / Eastern Carolina Academy, NC / 2028

Long and rangy, Liriano has excellent rhythm on the defensive side of the ball.  His movement and actions suggest that he may be a premium defender by the time his development is done.  Pair that with solid actions in the box and there is a lot to like.  He performed in the workout and game action at the 2025 Top Prospect Games.
