Who's At The Top

Broder Katke C / 3B / Brother Rice High School, MI / 2027

Report: Broder Katke, C, Brother Rice - Katke remains at the top of the class after a strong spring and summer performance. Katke played a big piece for the Warriors behind the plate - was also able to pick off several base runners in the spring alone. Katke saw a jump in power numbers from year 1 to year 2 which made him a key fixture in the middle of Brother Rice lineup. Katke earned an invite to Future Games in July which was followed up by an invite to the All-American game in Miami, Fla. September 20-21st.

The Risers

Dylan Crowe 3B / SS / Hartland High School, MI / 2027

Report: A mainstay in the heart of the order for Hartland, Crowe cemented himself as a key player during the state championship run for the Eagles coming up with a few key base hits in the process. Crowe profiles a good body profile with a strong arm from the left side and ability to put the ball in both alleys. A name regional programs need to keep track of as we head into the fall offseason.

Taber Edwards-Benner SS / RHP / Midland, MI / 2027

Report: Edwards-Benner made strong strides this spring and summer at the plate - we saw a number of at-bats of productivity and able to handle the state's biggest arms. A multi-sport athlete, we feel his best baseball is still ahead of him as he plays football in the fall. Taber followed up the spring with a good summer with Berryhill Post 165 helping lead them to a regional appearance.

Grady Preston RHP / 1B / Brother Rice High School, MI / 2027

Report: Preston came on strong at the end of spring and carried his successes into the summer. Preston logged key innings in the Catholic League which led to a big role this summer with D Las Vegas. Preston had a strong appearance at Future Games running the fastball up to 89.5 and attacked hitters really well. An imposing figure on the mound with a 6’5 frame, look for Preston to make another jump this offseason heading into to a big junior campaign.

Josh Vanderlugt LHP / OF / Hudsonville High School, MI / 2027

Report: The southpaw from Hudsonville came on strong the past few months earning himself an invitation to the Future Games at LakePoint. A good build with a ¾ arm slot - VanderLugt displayed a 3 pitch arsenal with a fastball with good arm side run and a 2/7 shaped slider to go with it. VanderLugt will look to earn big innings next spring for the Eagles.

Notable Newcomers

Boston Grueter C / Loy Norrix High School, MI / 2027

Report: Boston came on strong this summer and made a great impression on our staff. A strong bodied catcher with a left handed swing with some power to the pullside and a good carry on the ball from behind the plate. Grueter is poised for a big junior campaign in SW Michigan.

Luke Mette 3B / SS / L’Anse Creuse High School North, MI / 2027

Report: Another Macomb county player who had a strong month of June at Top Prospect Games. Mette gets the barrel through the zone and has the capability of some power to the pullside of the field. A strong round of BP with accurate throws from the outfield, one to keep an eye on as he garners more experience this coming spring.

The Sleepers

Adam Narr SS / RHP / LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL NORTH, MI / 2027

Report: Narr made his first impact on our staff during the winter months at the Detroit Prospect Scout Day - an athletic shortstop with a good arm to pair with the athleticism, he had a good spring for Lutheran Northwest and certainly solidifying himself as a top defender in the class up the middle.

Nathan Siler RHP / SS / Sacred Heart Academy, MI / 2027

Report: Nathan Siler is a name to know in the 2027 class as he headlined tradition rich Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart pitching staff this spring along with Capital City Kings 16u - Smith. Baseball runs deep in the family as his father played for the Chippewas in the late 80s and soon after the Detroit Tigers farm-system, Siler will look to follow in his fathers footsteps. A slender frame with much room to grow - Siler fastball will run into the mid-80s with a polished changeup to LHH. One to follow closely as programs start to assemble their 2027 recruiting classes.

Logan Scheidt C / SS / West Bloomfield High School, MI / 2027

Report: A reliable backstop for the Lakers of West Bloomfield - Scheidt offers more athleticism behind the dish than your traditional catcher. A strong arm and IQ for the game - Scheidt has established himself as a top defender in the class who had a big summer for the Detroit Prospects. Look for Logan to take another jump offensively this coming spring as he goes into the off-season.
