Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2026 Catchers

Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2026 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the class. With plenty of talented players still available, our staff will dive in and highlight the top five uncommitted prospects from each position group. This time, we'll take a look at the five top ranked uncommitted catchers, with a short breakdown of each prospect.

Tre Wilson C / OF / Iola, KS / 2026

Wilson is an excellent athlete behind the dish, putting together impressive numbers across the board. At the plate, the switch-hitter has showed off plenty of present power, with exit velocities as high as 102.5 mph. Defensively, he's got a pop time of 1.84, and has displayed good arm strength, being gunned at 80 mph behind the dish and 88 mph from the outfield.

Oscar Diez C / OF / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2026

Diez is a strong athlete with clear gap-to-gap power at the plate. The rising senior continues the trend of catchers on this list with triple digit exit velocities, and is a solid defender, putting down a 1.90 pop time.

Wyatt Otto C / OF / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2026

Otto is an athletic prospect as a backstop, clocking a sup 7.00 60 yard dash time. The athleticism translates to his defensive game, with pop times in the upper 1.80s as well as being gunned at 81 mph throwing it down.

Maddox Hodges C / OF / Manhattan, KS / 2026

Hodges is another athletic guy behind the dish who utilizes his athleticism to put together a strong metric profile defensively. As he adds some more strength to his 6'3 frame, he should see continued jumps in his power numbers as well as his all around game, making him an intriguing, high-upside follow.

Daxton Grissom C / OF / Olathe South, KS / 2026

Daxton Grissom is an athletic catcher, clocking a 6.73 60 yard dash time when we saw him a little over a year ago. Defensively, he has a quick transfer with solid arm strength. At the plate, he has proven an ability to elevate the ball with some power from gap to gap.
