VENTURA, CALIF. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues after a jam packed summer of Prep Baseball California events, summer travel baseball, and other opportunities to evaluate players we will be recognizing some of the top remaining uncommitted players around the state. We will be looking at players from the 2026 class and 2027 classes across the upcoming weeks/months. 

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on an impressive 2026 player who is featured inside the Top 100 of our 2026 California rankings. We are looking at SoCal '26 3B/OF Parker Smith from Poway High School in San Diego, Calif.. Smith has been a highly regarded player by the Prep Baseball California staff out of San Diego for the past two spring seasons and this summer posted a strong showing at the 2025 California State Games before excelling over the first two weekends of SoCal Scouts Association Scout League for myself and Les Lukach with his impact profile RH hitting profile.

Smith showed off his highly impressive powerful offensive profile during the batting practice sesion at California State Games. A RH hitter Smith starts from a wide base with a small heel lift and toe tap forward move to launch. Once there he sinks into his lower 1/2 during the turn with a connected turn of his hands and upper body using an uphill path geared towards elevating the baseball with authority. His turn has a strong ability to generate torque with a peak rotational acceleration of 17.9 Gs while using quick strong hands with a 21.5 MPH peak hand speed and strong present bat speed at 76.3 MPH in his swing operation. The consistent and quality swing for Smith mix well with his sound present approach, feel for rhythm/timing plus the high level barrel feel during batting practice to produce max exit velocites up to 106.3 MPH while averaging 91.9 MPH on his exit velocity with a max distance of 361' at the California State Games. The deeper metrics provided by Trackman during batting practice give additional evidence the intrigue of Smith's offensive profile including a 75% hard hit rate.

The 2025 spring season for Smith was personally very strong despite a down year for the Poway program. He took 106 plate appearances with 89 official at bats for the Titans while slashing .393/476/.539 and walked seven times. Parker posted a total of 35 hits to lead the Poway squad while nine of those went for extra bases (seven doubles and two home runs) for good measure he drove in 20 runs to lead the team and scored 16 runs. His doubles number was tops on the teams while his homers and runs finished second. 

Parker is athletically built tapping into his emerging physicality profile for the future with a 6'2 187.6 lbs frame that has room to continue adding good weight as he matures. A strong athlete he showed 6.73 60 yard sprint speed with a top end 20.4 MPH run speed while posting 1.57 10 and 3.73 30 splits that give him CF defensive potential in the OF should he move there in the future while fitting comfortably on either corner.

With a strong JR. of high school stats, impressive offensive metrics, intriguing athleticism and room to continue polishing his overall game the San Diego based product Smith is a name college programs would be well served to keeping eyes on for their 2026 class.
