2025 Spring Team Preview: Chagrin Falls Tigers

Team Name: Chagrin Falls Tigers
Head Coach: Michael Sweeney
Division: V
2024 Record: 11-18
2024 Tourney Finish: District Semifinals loss to Garrettsville Garfield
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/3

Coach Outlook: "We have been hit hard with injuries so far. We have 3 players who could be out for the season who would be in the starting line-up. Two of them are definitely out for the season. This will force many of our younger players to have to grow up in a hurry. We may have to play many different combinations and pitch many different players before we find out who gives us the best chance for success."

2025 Team Strengths:

  • Work ethic
  • Very coachable
  • Overall team speed

Top Returning Players:

  • Finn Johnson - C/SS/P - Senior - 5’9”, 150 lbs., R/R, Captain, HM CVC, Finn has made huge improvements each year as he does an outstanding job wherever we put him in the field. He has become a tremendous all around catcher. He does an excellent job of framing, blocking and throwing out runners. Finn is also an excellent shortstop. Finn has improved steadily as a hitter and as a pitcher. Last season, Finn was 3-1 with a 2.864 ERA while striking out 31 and walking only 7 in 29.1 IP. He also had 17 hits and 9 RBI at the plate as he batted .218.
  • Brandt Stevens - OF/P - Senior - 5’11”, 170 lbs., L/R, Captain, 1st Team CVC, Brandt is a relentless worker and has steadily gotten better and better. Brandt has turned himself into an excellent outfielder with a strong arm and is a middle of the order hitter for us. Brandt hit .250 last season with 4 doubles and 15 RBI.
  • Henry Cimperman - OF/P - Junior - 6’, 160 lbs., L/R, Captain, 2nd Team CVC, HM All District Henry has turned into an excellent all around player. Henry is an excellent defensive center fielder. He gets great jumps on the ball and can go get it. He is probably our most consistent hitter. Henry has a chance to be one of the better hitters in the area. Henry will also pitch a little this year. Last season, Henry hit .292 with 26 hits and 4 doubles. Henry scored 25 runs and stole 11 bases.
  • Will Murray – SS/P – Sophomore - 5’7”, 130 lbs, R/R, Will had a great start to his high school career. Will has tremendous hands and is an outstanding shortstop. After struggling at the beginning of the season, Will finished strong as a hitter and hit .224 with 15 hits, 10 RBI and 10 SB. Will also turned into an effective relief pitcher as he made 8 appearances, had a save and an ERA of 1.5.
  • Henry Myers – 2B/P – Senior - 6 '0”, 180 lbs, R/R, Henry is injured this season at the start and his status is unknown at this point. When healthy, Henry could help us in the field. Last season, Henry was 2-1 on the mound with a 3.11 ERA. He struck out 19 in 18 IP. He started 2 games and pitched in relief 10 other games so he gained plenty of experience.

When healthy, Jack has 4 plus pitches, with a fast ball in the mid 80s, and is one of the premier starters in the area. Unfortunately, Jack will not be able to play in the field this season.
