Nate's Notables: WV 2026 Preseason All-State Standouts

From event to event and showcase to showcase, thousands of players display their talents to us at Prep Baseball. This series of articles is made sure to highlight the standout players from the various events held throughout the Northeast region. Each installment will feature athletes who demonstrated exceptional skill, hustle, coachability and potential—whether through dominant performances on the mound, explosive hitting, or exceptional athleticism. Our goal is to recognize those who not only impressed statistically but also showed the intangibles that make them true prospects to watch.

Brad Bucci SS / RHP / Peters Township, PA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 5
Bucci is a two-way prospect that stood out on both sides of the ball. He stands at 5-foot-11 and 161-pounds with a lean yet athletic frame. Offensively, he showed off a left-handed swing that displayed body-control, efficiency, and quick-trigger speed. He produced a max exit velocity of 94.2 mph with multiple balls hits over 92 mph to the pull side. Defensively, his arm strength stood out immediately with throws from the outfield up to 88 mph and 89 mph in the infield. He is a versatile defender that will hold his own up the middle in the infield and in the outfield as well with his 6.88 sixty-yard dash speed.
On the mound, his arm talent translates well from the field. Bucci threw the bullpen after his upper 80s from the outfield and infield and he still had one of the top bullpen’s of the event. He flashed an 83-84 mph fastball and an impressive 72-73 mph curveball that produced -18 inches of horizontal movement.

Brayden Edwards C / RHP / Washington, WV / 2026
Edwards is a unique two-way prospect that is a pitcher and a catcher. He boasts a strong 6-foot, 220-pound build with some straight line speed running a 7.31 sixty-yard dash. From the left side of the plate he produced a max exit velocity of 101.9 mph and peaked at a max distance of 364 feet. Behind the plate he has a quick release and a strong arm that peaked at 79 mph and produced a pop-time of 1.91-2.02 seconds.

Adam Koraido SS / Peters Township, PA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 45 / POS: 7
The Pennsylvania product was the quickest runner at the event and flashed an eye-popping 6.56 sixty-yard dash, a 3.94 thirty-yard split, and a 1.60 ten-yard split. Offensively, Koraido hits from a simple set-up utilizing a minimal front foot lift with controlled movements in the box. He has a flat bat path with a bat-to-ball direction that produces a max exit velocity of 95.2 mph and a peak distance of 322 feet. Defensively, he flashed quick footwork and got to the proper spot and position to field the baseball and make strong throws that peaked at 87 mph across the infield.

Kohen Madden SS / RHP / Allegany High, MD / 2027Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 10
The tenth ranked shortstop and 36th overall player in Maryland’s 2027 class showed exactly why he is a highly rated prospect. Madden is a multi-sport athlete that boasts a physical frame of 6-foot, 206-pounds. Offensively, Madden had a round full of bullets up the middle that peaked at a max exit velocity of 94 mph. He flashed a repeatable swing with body control that translates well to the top of a lineup. In the field, he fielded ground balls from third and short stop and peaked at an arm strength of 90 mph, which led the event. He met the ball out front, shuffled into a good throwing position and rifled it accurately to first base.
On the mound, Kohen led the event with a fastball peaking at 88 mph and that was after throwing 90 mph from third base and short stop. He threw his fastball 85-88 mph with up to 19.8 inches of induced vertical break. His curveball was 70-74 mph and his slider was 72-77 mph with up to -19.4 inches of horizontal movement. He also flashed a changeup with a nice arm side fade up to 17 inches and threw it 77-78 mph.

Tyler Wilhite SS / RHP / Shady Spring High, WV / 2028Rankings OverallRank: 121 / POS: 36
Wilhite was a stand out performer in all aspects of the event. The 6-foot, 176-pound sophomore started his day with a 6.82 sixty-yard dash and a 1.58 ten-yard split which led the entire event. Offensively, he produced a max exit velocity of 92.6 mph and an average exit velocity of 86.6 mph. He flashed a twitchy swing that worked through the zone at an upward angle. Wilhite has a very high ceiling as he continues to refine his swing.
On the mound, Wilhite displayed two different release points that included a traditional three-quarters slot and a not so traditional side-arm slot. He throws a fastball and curveball from the three-quarter slot and a sinker and slider from the side-arm slot. His fastball was 80-83 mph while his sinker was 75-78 mph. His curveball had a large speed differential from his fastball at 60-64 mph and his slider was a little firmer at 66-70 mph.

Jason Vass 3B / RHP / Bridgeport Middle School, WV / 2028
Vass was one of the event’s top all-around performers that flashed a smooth round of defense at the hot corner. Defensively, he showed body control with soft hands that repeatedly funneled the baseball into his glove transfer. He also displayed a strong arm that peaked at 83 mph from the hot-corner. Offensively, he produced a max exit velocity of 95 mph with an efficient swing that can cover the entire zone. He has a swing that translates well to the top part of a lineup.

Trenton Tolliver C / 2B / Pikeview High School, WV / 2028
Tolliver was impressive behind the plate where he displayed a very quick translate and accurate throws that produced an event low 1.87-1.90 pop time. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound catcher also displayed soft hands during bullpens where he flashed the ability to steal strikes for his pitchers. Offensively, he has a whippy swing that creates some pop to the pull side. He flashed a max exit velocity of 90.6 mph and peaked at a max distance of 321 feet.

Tyler Baxter 3B / 1B / Hurricane High School, WV / 2027
Baxter produced the event’s top exit velocity with a batted ball at 103.5 mph. The 5-foot-10, 231-pound left-handed hitting corner infield was the loudest bat of the day. He hits with his hands in a ready position and stands upright in the box. He has a linear attack angle on the baseball and creates hard-hit balls with back spin. He worked the ball through the middle of the field primarily.

Eli Hilling RHP / Pikeview High School, WV / 2027
Hilling was one of the pitcher onlys that attended the event and stood out from his performance and his athleticism on the mound. The 2027 grad is 5-foot-8 and 148-pounds, a lean and athletic frame that is only scratching its potential. His arsenal consists of an 81-83 mph fastball, a 66-69 mph slider, and a 75-76 mph changeup. On the mound, Hilling showed a loose and lively arm action paired with an athletic movement pattern down the slope. As he continues to mature physically, expect Hilling to take big strides in the right direction.

Cutter Boggs OF / 3B / Shady Spring High, WV / 2028
Boggs had one of the more intriguing frames at 6-foot-3, 198-pounds. The sophomore has the makings of a high-level prospect and he displayed the athleticism and swing of a high-level prospect as well. Boggs ran one of the event’s quickest sixty-yard dashes while being one the largest players at the event. He displayed a 6.98 sixty, 4.12 thirty-yard split, and a 1.67 ten-yard split. Offensively, he shifts his weight into his backside and transfers his weight into an even hitting position utilizing a moderately sized leg kick. He attacks the ball with a slight upward attack angle and looks to elevate the baseball. He produced a max exit velocity of 93.1 mph.
