Overton @ Beech
Opening night on Shackle Island with the early night fog rolling in and Chase Burns making his Bucs debut against visiting Overton. He posted a perfect night striking out all 12 batters he faced while just pounding the FB and mixing a few off speed late. Beech offense scratched a few early before Jr. 3B Connor Ward put the game on ice with a 3-run blast off the scoreboard to make it 6-0 in the ___ inning. Ward would follow it up with a 2-RBI double down the line and the Bucs would add another in the 5th to secure a 10-0 win via run rule. Sr. RHP Jackson Shanks tossed a clean 5th inning to cap off a dominant pitching performance to kick off the year.

Tanner Langley, RHP, Overton, 2021 (Southwest TN CC Commit)
Summit vs Farragut (@ Lebanon)
A good pitching matchup between Summit's Sr. LHP Garrett Sims (Austin Peay) and Farragut's Jr. RHP Jaxson Pease (Uncommitted). The Admirals would strike for one in the first inning then add three more in the 3rd, thanks to a 2-RBi single from Fr. MINF Lukas Buckner. Summit would get one back in the top of the 4th due to a RBI single from Jr. Austin Nephew. Sr. C/1B Hudson Seigler (ETSU) would put the game away after hitting a solo homer in the 5th inning and followed it up with a 3-run shot in the 6th. Pease twirled five innings of one hit ball before giving way to Sr. SS Angus Pence (Tennessee) to close it out. The Spartans would put together a small rally in the 7th, but come short in a 8-3 loss.
Jaxson Pease, RHP/OF, Farragut, 2022
‘22 RHP/OF @jaxson19pease (@AdmiralGameday) twirled 5 innings of one hit ball w/ 1 walk and 9 punchouts to pick up the win. FB worked 81-85 (2068-2333 rpm) with downer SL at 73-75 (2395-2473 rpm). @PBR_Uncommitted #ShapeTheState pic.twitter.com/FxRp2WieWP

‘24 MINF @BucknerLukas (@AdmiralGameday) is advanced beyond his years w/ balanced approach and ability to control the barrel. Farragut @ Lebanon
Following the opening game win, Farragut matched up with hosting Lebanon, Sr. RHP Jake Wurms (Charleston Southern) made his first HS start for the Admirals and Blue Devils countered with Jr. left handed mixologist Bryce Fuller (Uncommitted). Blue Devils brought the energy and Wurms struggled out the gate with controlling the zone before Jr. C Copeland Bradford (Uncommitted) unloaded on a big 2-RBI triple to give them the early lead. After Fuller worked around trouble in the first two frames, the Admirals broke through to knot it up at 2-2 in the 3rd inning. Soph. RHP Matthew Kilbey came on for Farragut and tossed 3.1 hitless frames as Farragut would take a 3-2 lead on a Sr. OF Bryce Burkey (Cleveland St CC) triple. The teams would trade zeroes, but Farragut would take the decisive lead in the 7th after a leadoff double from Angus Pence, a H. Seigler walk, then another Burkey triple before scoring on a Buckner sac fly. Jr. sidewinder Kaleb Toon closed out a 6-2 win for Farragut.

Farragut vs Tullahoma (@ Siegel)
Due to rainfall in the area, I'd catch Farragut for the third time facing off against the Tullahoma Wildcats. Farragut starting pitcher Hunter Merrick (ETSU) would blast a 2-run homer to highlight a 4 run first inning before turning in four innings of 2 hit ball with 9 strikeouts. Farragut would tack one run in the 2nd and 3rd inning before Tullahoma answered with 2 runs in the 3rd. Following Merrick's departure, Tullahoma clawed back scrapping for 3 runs in the 5th to make it 6-5 ballgame. However, Farragut survived adding two in the 6th as Fr RHP Michael Delph tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to close out the 8-5 victory.

Ravenwood @ Riverdale
Both teams picked up a run in the first, Ravenwood's Blake Bevis laced a solo home run that was nearly robbed, and Jackson Underwood peppered a single to plate a run for Riverdale. That would be all the scoring until the 8th as pitching dominated. Riverdale was able to walk it off after a lead off double from Bamberg and then a bases loaded hit by pitch to pull out the 2-1 win.
