Stix Scout Weekend: Quick Hits
June 11, 2025
On Thursday June 5th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Southlake Carroll HSigh School in Southlake, TX, to host the Stix Scout Weekend, an event exclusive to the Stix Organization that featured 2026-2028's.
More than 120 players made their way to Southlake Carroll High School and participated in a pro-style workout on Thursday, followed by gameplay on Friday & Saturday.
Today, we take a look at scouting notes on some of the standouts from the day.
Cole Koeninger (2026 | SS/RHP | Keller HS | Tennessee Commit)
Cole is a top two-way prospect who must be scouted both as a shortstop and a right-handed pitcher. He has a strong build with plenty of room to add strength in the future, coupled with a 6.61 60-yard dash time. His agility and body control on the field stand out, and he has the potential to stay at shortstop. His raw arm strength is impressive, and he shows the ability to impact the baseball.
On the mound, his fastball reached 94 mph during this outing, and he has shown improved velocity this season. His fastball is a plus pitch with projection for even more. His curveball has solid action, clocking in at 80 mph with a spin rate over 2200 rpm. He also mixes in a slider at 82 mph with a spin rate above 2400 rpm. Koeninger is a solid strike thrower and has a great makeup. He competes well and has shown the ability to handle big moments. Right now, he profiles as a hitter/infielder over pitcher. The 2 time Prep Baseball All American continues to show why he is one of the top players in the country.
Hunter Watson (2026 | RHP | Tuttle HS (OK) | Oklahoma Commit)
Hunter is a solid prospect with a build that should continue to develop as he adds strength. He reminds me of Logan Henderson during his time at McLennan CC. His delivery and arm action are both smooth and repeatable. His fastball topped out at 91 mph with a spin rate of 2500 rpm, while his curveball sits at 76 mph with a spin rate of 2400 rpm. He also showed a changeup at 85 mph with present action, and he mixed in a slider at 80 mph. Hunter is a strike thrower with the ability to generate swings and misses on both his fastball and curveball. The fastball has that late carry in the zone, and the ball explodes on the hitters. A follow prospect, I would like to see him again this summer and in the spring to evaluate if his stuff has made further strides.
Luke Tucker (2026 | SS | Krum HS | Arkansas State Commit)
Luke has a solid build and will continue to add strength in the future. He shows the ability to make consistent contact with the ball and has the potential to impact the baseball, with power developing. As his lower half continues to get more consistent, there is another level of power to be untapped. He impacted the baseball every ab over the weekend. As a defender, he is an average player who moves well and gets to the baseball. With plenty of arm strength, he could transition to third base in the future if needed. He ran a 6.92 60-yard dash, which shows he moves well on the field.
Jack Byers (2026 | RHP | Artesia HS (NM) | Uncommitted)
Jack has a solid frame with room to add strength as he matures. His delivery is smooth, and his arm works well with ease. He has a low-effort delivery and shows the profile of a potential starter. His fastball topped out at 91 mph, and his slider, which sat at 78-79 mph, shows good feel. His curveball reached 76 mph, and he also threw a changeup at 85 mph with solid action. Jack is a strike thrower and should see an increase in velocity over time. His fastball really ran on RHH’s and velo seemed to play up.
Nicholas Smith (2026 | MIF | Mansfield Timberview HS | Uncommitted)
Nicholas has a good build with noticeable improvement in strength over the past year, and he still has room to add more. He posted a 7.0 60-yard dash and moves well on the field, showing great body control and agility. His actions at shortstop are solid, and his throws have carry. He has a strong approach to hitting, with more focus on hitting for average than power. Intense player, who is always playing hard. Academic kid as well.
Rylan Alaniz (2026 | INF | Trinity Hs | Uncommitted)
Rylan is an aggressive hitter who exudes confidence at the plate. He’s not afraid to get his swing off and shows pull-side power. He is a steady defender with solid actions, although at times he fields the ball a little deep. His 7.01 60-yard dash shows he has some speed on the field. Rylan is coming off a monster HS season, can play all over the field and has the intensity you look for. Should be a popular name this summer.
Adam Alvarez (2026 | MIF | Hebron HS | Uncommitted)
Adam has a solid build and moves well defensively, especially in the middle infield. He posted a 7.1 60-yard dash and shows the ability to field on the move. His approach at the plate is quality, as he stays short to the ball and consistently makes line-drive contact. He has solid arm strength and the ability to throw from various angles.
Jayde Austin (2026 | OF | Mansfield Lake Ridge HS | Uncommitted)
Jayde has the potential to add strength as he matures. With a 7.06 60-yard dash time, he moves well and shows a solid approach to hitting. He’s demonstrated pull-side power but also uses the entire field with good contact. As an outfielder, he is steady, and his arm is average but has carry. Jayde is a player with upside as he continues to develop, and has the potential to be a plus defender in CF.
Colton Bird (2026 | OF/3B | Denton Guyer HS | Uncommitted)
Colton is another prospect with good potential to add strength over time. He ran a 6.92 60-yard dash and moves well in the outfield. His arm shows carry, and he demonstrated a solid contact approach with pull-side power. Colton consistently finds the barrel and crushed a HR during gameplay.
Logan Brown (2026 | RHP/CIF | Keller HS | Houston Commit)
Logan has really reshaped his body, and he moves well for a big frame. His 6.94 60-yard dash time is impressive. He has a nice approach at the plate, generating some pull-side power with an aggressive swing. As a corner infielder, he shows solid feet and good body positioning to make plays. He also has carry on his throws. Won the HR Derby.
On the mound, Logan’s fastball reached 90 mph during this outing, and he has shown more velocity in the past. He demonstrates feel for his breaking ball, making him a solid two-way player. Big cross fire delivery he repeats well and makes for some tough angles.
Carson Cox (2026 | C | Mansfield Legacy HS | Uncommitted)
Carson has a solid build and ran a 7.17 60-yard dash. He moves well behind the plate, showing good feel for blocking and receiving baseballs. He has solid footwork when setting up to throw with a quick release. His throws have carry, and he posted a pop time of 1.9 seconds or better in his workout. During a game, he threw with accuracy at 1.86 seconds. Carson loads into a good position to hit, but his swing is a bit long. He has fair bat speed and more to develop in his game.
Jeffery Todd-Darden (2026 | CF | Cy Woods HS | Oklahoma State Commit)
Jeffery has a great build and will add strength as he matures. He had a banged up knee, but has been one of the fastest runners in the state for the 2026 class in the past. From what I observed, it doesn’t seem like anything major, and he moved well. He shows great range in the outfield and has carry on his throws. His bat/power combination has upside, and he shows flashes of hard contact with more to come. Jeffery will need to be scouted in the spring to get a better sense of his overall development.
Trent Vilade (2026 | INF | Prestonwood Christian | Texas A&M Commit)
Trent has a great build and will continue to add strength in the future. He was limited to DH duty this weekend due to minor elbow tenderness but still hit the ball hard all weekend. His approach at the plate is solid, and he shows the ability to use all fields. He flattened baseballs all weekend and has really started to grow into some real power. His makeup is outstanding, and he's a player to watch moving forward.
Jaeden Wilson (2026 | OF | Allen HS | Uncommitted)
Jaeden has a well-proportioned build and room to add strength. He posted a 6.75 60-yard dash and moves well in the outfield with plus range. He shows arm strength with carry on his throws. He demonstrates bat quickness and has an intriguing upside. Needs to continue to get reps and keep playing. Has all the tools.
Griffin Bourland (2026 | RHP | VR Eaton HS | Uncommitted)
Griffin is a pocket follow with a long, lanky build. His arm works well, and he repeats his delivery with ease. He topped out at 91 mph with his fastball, which has tail to the arm side. It got up to 94 at Cary this week during USA. His slider sat at 78-80 mph with short, downward action, and his changeup sat at 80 mph. He’s a strike thrower and could see another velocity spike in the future. Has the frame of a Friday night guy, and the stuff is starting to match.
Kayden Mansell (2026 | RHP | Mansfield Lake Ridge HS | Uncommitted)
Kayden has a solid build with strength in his lower body. His arm works well from an overhand slot, and his fastball topped out at 89 mph with carry. He showed a nice down-plane at the bottom of the zone. His curveball reached 76 mph with a 2400 rpm spin rate, and he gets swings and misses with it. Kayden continues a steady progression and is poised for a big summer.
Kyle Tanksley (2026 | INF | Allen HS | Uncommitted)
Kyle has a solid build and will add strength in the future. He has good defensive skills, with solid feet and hands. He can play anywhere on the infield, and at the next level, he could project as a third or second baseman. He makes hard contact with the barrel and shows some pull-side power. A good baseball player with a lot of upside. Instincts are off the charts and everything on the field he does plays up because of them.
Jobe Reed (2026 | OF/RHP | Colleyvillle Heritage HS | Uncommitted)
Not many players in North Texas had as good of a year as Reed. He posted a 6.78 60-yard dash and showed hard contact in batting practice with good bat speed. His pull-side power is developing, and he moves well in the outfield with carry on his throws. As a pitcher, he topped out at 91 mph with his fastball, and his slider has a sweeping action. His fastball is from a super low release height and can be really tough to get on top of at the top of the zone. Don’t see him remaining uncommitted much longer.
Kenson Buth (2027 | SS/RHP | Byron Nelson HS | Uncommitted)
Kenson has room to add strength and was arguably the best baseball player seen all weekend. He ran a 7.04 60-yard dash and has solid defensive actions at shortstop with good feet. His throws have carry across the infield. At the plate, he shows a good approach with power developing. Kenson battles at the plate and finds ways to get his hits.
On the mound, he has a solid delivery and arm action. His fastball topped out at 89 mph, and he worked between 86-88 mph. His curveball has plus spin and sits between 70-73 mph, and his changeup has nice tail/sink action at 76-80 mph. He’s a solid prospect on both sides of the game.
Camden Dean (2028 | OF/LHP | Southlake Carroll HS | Uncommitted)
Camden has a good build and will add strength as he matures. He ran a 6.99 60-yard dash and is a solid defender in the outfield, showing good reads and range. His arm shows carry on his throws. At the plate, he gets in a good position and makes solid contact.
As a pitcher, Camden has a solid delivery and arm action. His fastball topped out at 87 mph with good tail action. His curveball sits between 72-75 mph, and his changeup is developing at 80 mph with sink. Camden has plenty of upside as he continues to develop. Has a chance to be the top 2 way in the 28 class.
Will McIntitre (2027 | INF/RHP | Boyd HS | Uncommitted)
Will is an athletic player with a good build and room to add strength. He ran a 7.03 60-yard dash and has solid footwork when fielding the ball. His hands work well, and he shows the ability to throw from all angles with carry on his throws. He has a solid approach at the plate, consistently making line-drive contact and finding the barrel.
On the mound, Will shows solid delivery with good arm speed. His fastball topped out at 90 mph and has tail action to both sides of the plate. His curveball, at 72-75 mph, has swing-and-miss potential, and he shows good feel for the pitch. Fastball command is some of the best in his class.
Craig Russel (2027 | MIF | Navajo HS (OK) | Uncommitted)
Craig has a solid build and will add strength over time. He ran a 6.99 60-yard dash and shows range with excellent instincts. He makes plays on the move with solid body control and agility. At the plate, his contact approach results in line drives, and he uses all fields effectively. Craig is a plus baseball player with excellent makeup, and he plays the game hard.
Carson Roy (2027 | OF | Prosper Rock Hill HS | Uncommitted)
Carson has room to add strength and ran a 6.94 60-yard dash. He has the ability to impact the baseball and shows pull-side power. His setup at the plate includes a wide base with a draw-back stride, but he also shows a no-stride approach. With more adjustments, his hitting ability will continue to improve. In the outfield, Carson moves well and has carry on his throws.
Evan Ogwezi (2028 | RHP/OF | Mansfield Lake Ridge HS | Uncommitted)
Evan has a great build and will add strength as he matures. He repeats his delivery well, working from an overhand slot. His fastball reached 91 mph and has carry. His curveball is developing and sits between 70-72 mph. Evan has upside, and with more innings and experience, he will continue to develop. He also has real football upside.
Taegen Tate (2028 | RHP | Amarillo HS | Uncommitted
Taegen has a solid build and will add strength. His delivery is repeatable, and his fastball reached 86-88 mph with arm-side tail and sink. He blends in a breaking ball between 73-77 mph and shows good feel for the pitch. His changeup sits at 78 mph. Tate relies on athleticism mostly now, but as he refines his stuff, he will have a chance to be one of the top righties in the country.
