VA/DC Class of 2028: Spring Risers

Elijah Archer OF / 1B / HIGHLAND SPRINGS HIGH, VA / 2028A rare combination at this age of physicality, athleticism, hit tool, and present power. Short path to contact, generates advanced bat and hand speed through the zone, and has shown flashes of a relentless motor out of the box. The biggest question long term will be where does the defensive fit settle in, but has the footspeed to play left and the potential power production to provide value to corner outfield/first base. Has been a standout in the middle of the Highland Springs order this spring.

Luke Torres 3B / OF / MARSHALL HIGH, VA / 2028The athletic infielder stood out this spring in our handful of looks of Marshall HS. Played third during our time seeing him this spring, but has the actions to move around the infield. Solid arm strength for a freshman, some feel for the pocket, and works out front. At the plate it is a lower lift to stride, lands on line, and has a medium level path to contact. More hit tool than impact, but has shown some doubles power at times. Long term projects as more of a hit tool bat that has the athleticism to impact the game on the bases and the frame that would lean toward some future run tool improvements.

Devin Trendl RHP / 1B / Maret, VA / 2028An outstanding season for the DC area right hander. As a freshman, Trendl threw the most innings for Maret. In just over fifty innings of work, Trendl struck out sixty-six and held a 4:1 K/BB ratio. It is not overpowering stuff, sitting upper 70's to low 80's, but has shown the ability to compete and win at a consistent level with what he currently possesses. Lower effort delivery and has shown some feel for two to three secondary pitches. As the strength and maturity sets in, it should only allow the pitchability to continue to trend up with as the stuff progresses.
