WIAA State Finals: Day Two Recaps

No. 1 Kenosha St. Joseph vs. No. 4 Barron

The Lancers would take the lead in the bottom of the first inning, a leadoff double by Dominic Santarelli (2026; Louisville) and a walk to Peter Visconti (2025; Wisconsin-Milwaukee) who would both advance on a wild pitch, would set the table for Zach Rizzo (2026) to drive in the first run of the game on a groundout.

An error on the defense, a hit-by-pitch for Dominic Rinaldi (2026), and a base hit for Tim Falk (2025) loaded the bases for the Lancers in the bottom of the second. A run scores on a walk for Santarelli, and a Visconti single drives in another two runs.

Barron would cut into St. Joseph’s lead in the top of the third as the first three baserunners reached safely, RHP/UTL Glendon Thompson (2026) would drive in a run on a sacrifice fly to center field cutting the lead down to three runs.

After a scoreless bottom half of the third, Barron would score two more runs, one on a single from OF/INF Zac Edwards (2026), the other run would score on a rundown in the infield cutting the lead down to one.

Heading into the bottom half of the fourth, Santarelli led off the inning with a opposite field double before being driven in by Visconti on a base hit to center field.

Barron would score again in the top half of the fifth on a base hit from INF/LHP Adam Wirth (2025) driving in one run.

St. Joseph would score eight runs in the bottom half of the inning on only four hits, Visconti drove in his fourth and fifth RBIs on the day on a base hit to left field.

OF Tim Falk (2025) would collect his third hit of the game on a base hit to center field, walking the game off for St. Joseph as they advance to the State Finals on Thursday.

No. 2 Fennimore vs. No. 3 Kewuanee

Pitching would take over early throughout the game as each starting pitcher would hold the opposing offense scoreless through the first three innings.

Kewaunee would score first, taking the lead in the top of the fourth on a RBI double by INF Brady Pribek (2025) to center field scoring two runs.

Fennimore would answer back in the bottom half of the frame, cutting into Kewaunee’s lead scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by UTL Gianni Filardo (2025) to left field.

Kewaunee would continue to find the barrel, as OF Connor Kilgore (2026) would drive in three runs on a RBI base hit to right field that he would find his way home on after an error by the defense.

Fennimore would cut into the lead again, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth the first scored on a wild pitch before INF Corey Dresen (2026) would drive in the second run of the inning on a single to right field.

After a scoreless seventh for Kewaunee, INF/RHP Waylon Delain (2026) would record three quick outs as Kewaunee advances to the State Finals on Thursday.

No. 1 Pacelli vs. No. 4 Edgar

After a scoreless top of the first inning, Pacelli would score first in the bottom half of the inning. A leadoff walk for INF Malise Beduhn (2025), a sacrifice bunt moved him into scoring position, where he later came around to score on a base hit for INF Lucas Haemmerle(2025). INF Tomas Uemura (2025) would drive him in with a triple.

In the bottom of the second, three straight singles by INF Sullivan Schober (2027), OF Braeden Flaker (2027), and OF Bryce Flaker (2027) would load the bases. Beduhn drives in two with a single of his own. Haemmerle would drive in three runners with a double following a OF Jaden Garski (2027) single that loaded the bases. Another triple for Uemura would allow Haemmerle to score. C Nate Haemmerle (2026) would follow this up with a double to drive in Uemura. C Eric Reincke (2027) would go on to double to score N. Haemmerle.

In the top of the third inning, a lead off walk for OF Will Hackel (2025), a double for INF Jase Apfelbeck (2025) , and a walk for OF Dakota Ellenbecker (2025) would load the bases for MIF Leyton Schuett (2025), who drove in two runs with a base hit.

In the bottom of the third inning, a leadoff hit-by-pitch and a stolen base for M. Meduhn would allow him to score on a base hit by L. Haemmerle.

Uemura would follow this up with his third triple of the game, driving in L. Haemmerle. Uemura would score on a fielder's choice. Reincke doubles with two outs, and is driven in on a base hit for Schober.

Keltin Opper would come in and record three straight outs, finishing out the win for Pacelli.

No. 2 Johnson Creek vs. No. 3 Pittsville

After a scoreless first inning, Pittsville would get on the board first with C Jameson Krueger (2025) collecting an RBI base hit driving inINF Kash Ostermann (2026), who doubled and advanced to third on an INF Corbin Leigh (2028) base hit.

The lead stayed with Pittsville until the bottom of the fourth inning. INF Tanner Hermann (2025, Bryant & Stratton JC) got the action started with a base hit and would later come around to score on a fielder’s choice. INF Dugg Hartwig (2025) would drive in INF Zach Holland (2025) with a base hit.

The Panthers would tie the game up in the top of the sixth inning. INF Grant Rademan (2027) would get hit by a pitch and come around to score on a double by INF Ben Friday (2025).

Johnson Creek would answer right back in the bottom of the sixth, Holland leading the inning off with a double, followed up by a bunt hit for INF Aiden Smith (2026). Holland would come around to score on a base hit by Hartwig. OF Brady Fincutter (2026) would walk to load the bases, and two more runs would come around to score on an error by the defense to give the Blue Jays a 6-2 lead going into the top of the seventh inning.

Hartwig would close out the game, going 1.2 innings in relief, recording three strikeouts as Johnson Creek advances to the state finals on Thursday.
