Central Illinois Open: Preview
August 7, 2018
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 8, PBR Illinois hits the road to visit The Corn Crib in Normal where we’ll be hosting the Central Illinois Open, a showcase shining a spotlight on the talents of those prospects residing in the middle of the state. Each year, this event allows us to uncover players with next-level abilities we otherwise may not have seen.
Last year, we got the chance to see RHP McCade Brown (Normal West, 2018; Indiana) break out before committing to play Big Ten baseball this fall. Before that, the Central Illinois Open has hosted the likes of SS Cole Daily (Sacred Heart Griffin, 2015; Notre Dame) and RHP Cole Bellair (Lockport, 2015; Illinois).

None of the 70-plus players headed to The Corn Crib tomorrow have commitments, making the event an important one.
Another name who made a huge leap at last year’s Open was LHP Cameron Edmonson (Rochester, 2019; Indiana State). Edmonson used this very same platform to display his velo jump and mix of above-average secondary offerings. The lefty, just last week, committed to Indiana State.
Cameron Edmonson (8.9.17)
At tomorrow’s event, there’s bound to be a prospect like Edmonson who jumps onto the big stage, it’s just a wonder who it might be.
