Draft League Spotlight: Ryan McCoy

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

Player: Ryan McCoy
Position: C/1B
School: Wabash Valley

When you hit left-handed, run a 6.88 sixty, have a strong, accurate arm, wear the tools of ignorance and slightly resemble Joe Mauer at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds scouts tend to take notice. And that’s just what they do when McCoy puts on a show with throws to second base and POP times in the 1.9s with strong accuracy. At the plate, the lefty hitter has some leverage to his swing for developing power, but it’s ultimately his size, athleticism and defensive tools that provide the foundation for his value as a pro prospect.
