Midwest Prospect League Scout Notes: 2019 Prospects

By Sean Duncan
Executive Director

In the coming days, I will roll out content on the 2018, 2019 and 2020 prospects that competed in the Midwest Prospect League (MPL) at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. The MPL featured top-level travel programs’ 15U, 16U and 17U teams all at Grand Park’s state-of-the-art complex and some neighboring fields. From a scouting and competition perspective, it was one of the best events I’ve been to in a while, certainly one that will require more than one guy next year. Nevertheless, this scouting notebook focuses solely on a handful of 2019 prospects that I saw over the course of two days during the four-day tournament …

CONNOR PRIELIPPLHP / TOMAH, WI / 2019

Uncommitted. 6-foot, 155-pound left-handed pitcher, wiry-thin frame with long limbs. High level of projection in the frame. Pitching for the Wisconsin Hitters, had an overall stellar performance against the Indiana Bulls Black squad. Delivery is smooth, easy and in-line; works downhill, creates angle and gets significant arm-side run on his 85-87 mph fastball. Ball seems to jump on hitters. Breaking ball was equally impressive, working 78-80 with sharp, late bite. Also mixed in a 78-80 mph changeup with fade. Excellent feel for three pitches. Overall calm, confident demeanor on the mound. Arm is athletic and clean from high-¾ slot.  Pumped high-volume of strikes.
