St. Louis Fall ID: Quick Hits

By: Illinois Scouting Staff

On October 8th, the Prep Baseball Illinois and Prep Baseball Missouri staff hosted the St. Louis Fall ID at Arsenal BG Ballpark in Sauget, IL. 16 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball staff.

Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.

Pitchers

RHP Matt Morris (Triad, 2028) emerged as a high-follow arm in Illinois during our 2025 preseason events, and he continued to look the part of a top arm in the state’s sophomore class last week. Morris stands in an athletic, high-waisted frame with seemingly more projection still to come. His delivery has easy actions and minimal effort down the mound, paired with a loose arm out of a ¾ slot. His ability to control his three-pitch mix stood out during his bullpen this fall, showing an advanced ability for his age to throw each pitch in and around the zone. His fastball sat in the low-80s throughout his ‘pen, and he mixed in a curveball at 67-71 mph with an average of -5.5 inches of induced vertical break, and an average of -12.8 inches of horizontal movement. He rounded out his arsenal with a low-70s change-up. Morris will continue to be a name to circle in Illinois.

Two-Ways

LHP/OF Tyler Mehrtens (Highland, 2028) impressed our staff both on the mound and as a position player at this event. He’s a projectable athlete with long, wiry levers at 5-foot-10, 146-pounds. It’s a quick operation on the mound, working his fastball up to 81 mph with some arm-side action. His slider looked like his best off-speed offering, sitting in the mid-to-upper-60s with 1/7 shape and averaging 18.3 inches of horizontal movement. To round out his three-pitch mix, Mehrtens mixed in a change-up in the mid-70s with clear fade. Mehrtens started off the event posting a 6.86 60-yd time. At the plate, the left-handed hitter operates from a tall stance with a small stride. Compact swing with a gap-to-gap approach. Mehrtens posted a max batted ball distance of 348 feet, while having a max exit velocity of 92.6 mph. Mehrtens is a name to know in the ‘28 class.

Hitters

MIF/OF Amir Muhammad (John Burroughs (MO), 2027) had one of the top all around performances during the event. Muhammad is listed with an athletic 6-foot-1, 166-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter operates from a wide, balanced stance with a small stride. He has a pure swing that is direct to the ball with a line-drive approach. Muhammed had an average exit velocity of 92.6 mph with a max of 99.6 mph. He had a max batted ball distance of 333 feet. Muhammad showed off his athleticism by running a 6.79 60-yd time while also posting an 82 mph outfield and infield velocities.

CIF Henry Brown (Festus (MO), 2027) had one of the top BP rounds of the event. Brown is listed with a strong 5-foot-10, 210-pound frame. The right-hander operates from an upright, balanced stance with no stride. Pure swing that has a slight uphill bat path with a pull-side approach. Brown posted a max exit velocity of 100.8 mph with an average exit velocity of 91.6 mph. He showed impressive bat speed as he had an average of 76.4 mph while topping out at 83.3 mph.

OF Raiden Redd (Sullivan (MO), 2027) had the top max exit velocity of the event at 103.9 mph. Redd is listed with an athletic 5-foot-11, 168-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter operates with a tall, open stance with a high leg lift into a long stride. Slight uphill bat path with a pull-side approach. Redd had an average batted ball distance of 241 feet with a max of 344 feet. He had an average hand speed of 24.3 mph with a max of 25 mph.

MIF Brayden Good (Festus (MO), 2027) was a standout at the plate as he posted some of the best numbers of the event. Good is listed with a 6-foot, 171-pound frame with room to add strength.
