Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 of the 2025 spring season. 

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chase Gockenbach 3B / RHP / LAKEWAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, TN / 2028 Gockenbach, a freshman from Lakeway Christian School had a stellar performance at the plate throughout the week. With a .389 average at the plate in the opening week of the spring, Gockenbach added 7 hits, 4 of those being via a homerun and 3 doubles. On the mound, pitched 5 innings for Lakeway Christian in a complete game effort. Picked up 5 punchouts, allowed just 2 hits, no runs and no walks. 77% of his pitches landed for strikes as well. With 4 homers at the plate, Chase leads the nation as a freshman and leads Tennessee for all classes.

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Will Harmon LHP / 1B / Greeneville High School, TN / 2026 Harmon, an uncommitted junior had eye-opening performance on the mound to start his junior campaign. Got the nod and went 6 innings for Greeneville, allowing just 2 hits, no walks, no earned runs and tallied a total of 17 punchouts in their win.
