2025 Colorado Preseason All-State: Quick Hits

On February 23rd, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff hosted this year's Colorado Preseason All-State at The Farm Sports in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This event featured ~150 prospects from the 2028-2025 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players in attendance. Today we'll continue our deep dive into the data collected at this event within this 'Quick Hits' story.

Keaton Maiorana RHP / Mountain Vista, CO / 2026Keaton continues to impress each time we see him and this time around he posted a Trackman fastball velocity up to 95.5 mph after showcasing a fastball up to 94 mph about a month ago. The Mountain Vista right-hander comes with a 6'5'' frame that moves exceptionally well for his size, along with a quick arm. Keaton's fastball has a max spin rate of 2,547 rpm with a max IVB (induced vertical break) of 12.7. We have also seen Keaton throw both his curveball (2,596 max rpm) and changeup for strikes in both of his event bullpen sessions of 2025. Keaton is still uncommitted, but could have plenty of eyes on him early this spring if he is around the strikezone.

Thomas Shank SS / OF / Rock Canyon, CO / 2028Shank was one of the most impressive left-handed bats at this event, even as a freshman. The Rock Canyon athlete is 6-foot and 153 Ibs with a wiry/athletic frame that produced a max exit velocity at over 98 mph. Shank also had one of the most consistent rounds of the day thanks to an average exit velocity at 92 mph. The ceiling is high on Shank while he continues to actively develop with his 86 mph outfield throwing velocity, 85 mph infield throwing velocity, and a 7.1 60-yard dash time.

Michael Kroll RHP / 3B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 6
A name to circle for 2025 is certainly Michael Kroll and his fastball up to 92 mph from this event. The uncommitted sophomore continues to develop and flashed big upside with his arsenal. Kroll stands at 6'4'' and 205 Ibs with an easy arm action that still projects for higher velocity. Along with his fastball, Kroll showcased a quality slider (11.4 inches of horizontal movement) and changeup (~1550 rpm / 10.4 inches of horizontal movement).

Alvin Jarrell RHP / OF / Palmer, CO / 2025Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 13
Jarrell is committed to Hutchinson CC to continue his baseball career after this spring, and he continues to increase his velocity. The fastball on Jarrell in this event sat from 90-93 mph with a curveball, slider, and changeup combination. Jarrell is 6'1'' and 185 Ibs with plenty of pitchability and stuff on the mound. In spring 2024, Jarrell pitched 56.1 innings with 85 Ks, 36 walks, and a 5-2 record.

Maddox Burnett RHP / OF / Erie, CO / 2026Burnette is a 2024 Future Games alumni who is due for a big spring after missing a chunk of last season. The BYU commit is tool'd up thanks to his fastball up to 91.2 mph, a 101 mph top exit velocity, a 92 mph infield throwing velocity, and a 93 mph outfield throwing velocity. Burnette comes with plenty of natural arm talent out of an athletic and strong frame that should continue to develop.

Easton Embrey RHP / OF / Palisade, CO / 2025Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 30
Another player who showcased some high-end tools from this event was Palisade's Easton Embrey. The uncommitted senior has been a highlight from this year's Colorado preseason events since he has posted a fastball up to 91 mph, a 6.6 60-yard dash time, 102 mph top exit velocity, and a 92 mph outfield throwing velocity. Embrey is 6'3'' / 178 Ibs and pitched 52 innings last spring with 67 Ks, while hitting .460 with 4 triples, 5 doubles, and a 1.182 OPS across 110 plate appearances.

Jack Sansone RHP / OF / Roosevelt, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 4
Sansone is a 2024 Super Sophomore Games alumni who showcased quite well during this event. We have always seen the arm talent with Sansone, but during this year's Colorado Preseason All-State we saw the underclassman eclipse 90 mph with his fastball. Sansone has already pitched some quality innings at the varsity level and could have another strong spring with his developing arsenal. Sansone is 6'1'' and 186 Ibs with active strength and a full pitch selection of; fastball, slider, and changeup.

Luc Gaca Thiele 3B / RHP / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 1
The top round of batting practice from this event came from 2024 Future Games alumni Luc Gaca Thiele. Luc topped out at a 103.2 mph exit velocity, but his average exit velocity wasn't too far behind at 99.6 mph. The uncommitted junior continues to develop and comes with a true hit tool from the left-side that was on showcase during the Future Games at LakePoint with his homerun, and plenty of barrels. The Fossil Ridge infielder is looking to build off of his .412 batting average (2 HRs) from last spring, and has a frame that comes in at 6-foot and 196 Ibs.

Holden Goodrich C / OF / Arvada West, CO / 2028Goodrich is Colorado's #2 ranked 2028 prospect and a 2024 Junior Future Games standout. The freshman posted plenty of personal bests at this event thanks to his 101.6 mph top exit velocity, a 1.97 pop time, an 85 mph outfield throwing velocity, 80 mph catcher throwing velocity, and a fastball up to 85.5 mph on the mound. Goodrich already presents higher level feel at the plate and controls himself and the game well at the catcher position for his age. The freshman has a chance to be an immediate impact for his 5A Arvada West Wildcats this spring.

Connor Thrush OF / RHP / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2028Colorado's #1 ranked 2028 prospect comes with a high ceiling and posted a 91.3 mph top exit velocity, a 90 mph outfield throwing velocity, and a fastball up to 85.4 mph on the mound. Thrush is athletic and strong while his 6'1'' frame should continue to develop exceptionally well. The Cherokee Trail freshman has a quality fastball, slider, and changeup combination he can land for strikes and could have a chance to make an impact with his varsity program this spring.

Cole Teltschik C / SS / Discovery Canyon, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 1
Teltschik is another 2024 Future Games alumni who put up some strong numbers in this event. The Missouri State commit stands in at 6'2'' / 193 Ibs and comes with a 1.83 top pop time, an 83 mph catcher throwing velocity, an 88 mph infield throwing velocity, and a 95 mph top exit velocity. Teltschik's strong frame helps him create easy power from a simple approach in the box while he controls himself very well behind the plate with a strong arm.

Gavin Marsh OF / 2B / Mullen, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 5
Marsh has made some quality jumps to beef up his toolset as the sophomore now has a 6.9 60-yard dash time, a 93 mph top exit velocity, an 86 mph infield throwing velocity and a 90 mph outfield throwing velocity. The 2024 Super Sophomore Games alumni could be in for a big spring, and is a name to circle as we head into the 2025 baseball calendar.

JC Smith OF / C / Broomfield, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 48 / POS: 11
Another underclassman who put up some numbers to note in this event was Broomfield's JC Smith. The outfielder and catcher posted a 6.93 60-yard dash time, a 92 mph top exit velocity, 87 mph outfield throwing velocity, and a 1.95 top pop time. Smith comes with quality hands and an athletic frame that bodes well for his future development.

Ethan Cartagena OF / ThunderRidge, CO / 2028Cartagena flashed plenty of athleticism as a freshman in this event thanks to his 6.93 60-yard dash time, a 90 mph top exit velocity, and an 81 mph outfield throwing velocity. The ThunderRidge freshman has a wiry/athletic frame with some twitchy actions that should only continue to get stronger.

Tyler Kephart C / RHP / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 47 / POS: 6
There is no shortage of strength when it comes to Tyler Kephart. The junior was a standout across the board at this year's Colorado Preseason All-State thanks to his fastball that topped out at 91 mph, a 102 mph top exit velocity, an 84 mph catcher throwing velocity, and outlier bat speed over 88 mph. Kephart is 5'11'' / 192 Ibs and uses all of his frame to max out the toolset. The upcoming 2025 spring season could be a breakout year for the uncommitted Fossil Ridge junior both on the mound, and at the plate.

Titus Dokes RHP / 3B / Denver East, CO / 2026Dokes was yet another uncommitted arm that topped out at 90+ mph in this event, and the junior has some strong overall metrics surrounding his arsenal. The fastball on Dokes has a max IVB of 12.3 with a max spin rate of 2,636 rpm, his curveball sat around 75 mph with an average spin rate of 2,600 rpm, his slider was from 77-82 mph with a max spin rate of 2,686 rpm, and he also placed a formidable changeup around 78-80 mph (11 inches of average horizontal movement). Dokes comes in at 6'3'' / 185 Ibs and is an uncommitted name worth following closely this spring.

Sawyer Tipton RHP / OF / Mountain Vista, CO / 2026Sawyer Tipton produced a fastball up to 91 mph in this event and has now been seen over 90 mph twice by the Prep Baseball Colorado staff this preseason. Tipton is 6'1'' with a physically athletic frame and quality feel for spin on the mound to go with his above average velocity. The fastball on Tipton sits from 88-91 mph (~2,500 rpm) with a swing and miss slider at 76-77 mph (~2,600 rpm), and a changeup around 81-82 mph. Tipton does a great job keeping a consistent arm action on all of his pitches while his curveball has a more unique "downer" (12/6) shape thanks to around -15 average IVB on the pitch.

Kolten De Groot 1B / RHP / Arvada West, CO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 1
De Groot is a freshman right-hander at 6'6'' who registered a fastball over 86 mph in this event. The tall underclassman does a great job controlling his frame on the mound and comes with some feel for spin and pitchability as well. The fastball on De Groot sat around 84-86 mph (2,324 max rpm), the curveball from 70-72 mph (2,530 max rpm), the slider around 74 mph (2,318 max rpm), and the changeup from 78-80 mph (10.3 inches of average horizontal movement).

Brady Bradford SS / 2B / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 1
Bradford is a 2023 Junior Future Games alumni who just keeps getting better. The left-handed hitting infielder comes with an advanced approach at the plate while he continues to develop thanks to his 93 mph top exit velocity with a 75 mph bat speed from this event. We are also seeing Bradford unlock more of his athleticism lately as he ran a 6.9 60-yard dash last Sunday as well. The Fossil Ridge sophomore should continue to get stronger and is another name to circle for spring 2025.
