Another class of prospects has set foot on high school campuses for the first time with the Class of 2020 beginning ninth grade. In the latest Hotlist, state directors take a look at some of the top freshmen in their state—ones that should be watched this fall and into the spring season.

Logan Beard, SS, North Oldham HS, KY
One of the top middle infielder’s in Kentucky’s 2020 class, Beard stands at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. He displays good hands and footwork to go along with plenty of arm strength across the diamond. At the plate, he uses a quiet and balanced approach that produces line drive contact to all fields. He produces good bat speed for his age and shows flashes of gap power that will only improve as he gets physically stronger. Beard has posted a 7.25 60.
