2025 KSHSAA Player of the Week: Week 1
April 1, 2025
Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Prep Baseball KS Player of the Week. We will rely on submissions from high school coaches and others by way of email ([email protected]) or DM on X (twitter). Nominations should include player name, grad year, position, and stat line. The Kansas High School Player of the Week will be released every Tuesday after noon. This week had the most nominations we have ever received with some of the most impressive numbers we have ever seen, making the selection a difficult process. We will cover all players nominated for player of the week in our Diamond Notes article that comes out on Wednesdays.
Thank you to each high school coach who submitted a nomination for this week's awards.
Let's take a look at the Player of the Week for Week 1 (March 20th-30th):

Colton Sims 3B / OF / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2025Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
Sims is no stranger to a hot start of the season and this year was no exception. Facing one of the most difficult week one schedules in the state, Sims rose to the challenge. The Vanderbilt signee played in 6 games where he had 25 PA and 20 ABs. The right-handed hitter tallied 10 hits for a .500 ave including three HRs, three triples, two doubles, and three singles. Sims totaled 15 RBIs and 11 runs scored. Maybe most impressive is one of the home runs was a grand slam while another was a walk-off winner.
