Redshirt freshman MIF Blake Venneman is having an excellent season for Allen County in 2023. Through 199 plate appearances in 46 games, he has slashed .329/.467/.382 and scored 38 runs. Venneman has shown off impressive contact skills and plate discipline, racking up 50 hits and 32 walks, while striking out only 12 times. He has also stolen 21 bases on 25 attempts, and he sports a .949 fielding percentage with 6 double plays turned. Venneman performed well at the Allen County Scout Day in October 2021, showing an ability to consistently hit hard line drives. His average launch angle was 26.5 degrees, and his average hit distance was 252 feet. 50% of his hits were line drives, and he had a 41.7% hard hit percentage with a 66.7% sweet spot percentage. With his blend of contact, speed, and quality defense, Venneman should impress coaches at the next level.
