Joey Wentz (KS) Flashes His Mound Presence

By Nathan Rode
National Supervisor

Joey Wentz (Shawnee Mission East HS, KS) is a two-way player. Some may have not known it, but he made it pretty clear at the Super 60. After a summer of putting his power on display, the Virginia recruit made Sunday all about pitching sitting 91-92 mph, touching 93, with an easy, loose and athletic delivery while also flashing a sharp curveball from the left side. While he threw some bullpens last summer and several more in recent weeks, Wentz hasn’t pitched in a game since the high school season. In game late in the season, he was sitting 86-88. Even so, Sunday was just another day for him.
