Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Outfielders

Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted outfielders in the class.

Grant Westphal OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2027

Westphal continues to prove why he's one of the top prospects in the country, most recently with an excellent performance in the showcase portion of the All-American Game. He put together one of the loudest rounds of BP of the event, with a max exit velocity of 107 mph, while also showing off some speed to go with the power, running a 6.58 60.

Ryker Mahnke OF / SS / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2027

One of a pair of Lawrence Free State outfielders to make the list, Mahnke has elite athleticism and a great blend of strength and speed. At the plate, we've seen him run his exit velocity up to 97.2 mph. Defensively, his combination of 6.57 speed and nice arm stength create an impressive profile as a defender.

Owen Lester OF / SS / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2027

The other half of the Lawrence Free State duo, Lester is more a physical prospect, with some really nice power at the plate. At the plate, he's knocking on the door of triple digit exit velocities, topping out at 99 mph.

Carter Taldo OF / RHP / Olathe West, KS / 2027

Taldo continues the trend of outfielders in a very strong in-state outfield class to profile with great upside to go along with an impressive present tool set. At the plate, we've had Taldo up to 99.9 mph exit velocity, and that strength carries over to the defensive side where we've gunned him at 91 mph throwing it in from the outfield.

Hays Ensley OF / SS / Mulvane, KS / 2027

Ensley is a consistent in-game performer, with an excellent, well-rounded toolset. Defensively, he utilizes his 6.80 speed and plus arm to lock down the outfield. At the plate, we've seen him slot in just a tick under triple digits, topping out at 99.2 mph.
